  1. I just went though the same process as you. I ended up buying the 60C. The Meridian Color was a close second, but it was too big for my taste.
  2. Version 5? Yes Bean bag? Use it if you don't want adhesive on your dash, or for a second vehicle. Power cable? Standard 12V auto charger
  3. It's definately just a personal preference thing. I knew I wanted a color screen. Wasn't concerned about memory cards, but thought they would be a nice bonus. Went to Outdoor World and played with both a Meridian Color and a 60C. I felt they would both do the things I wanted them to do, but I couldn't get comfortable with the size of the Meridian. The 60C just felt better in my hand. Since my wife would be using it, too, I had her look at them. Without any comments from me, she came to the same conclusion. So, we ended up with the 60C I was really hoping I'd like the Meridian better, 'cause it had a much nicer price. Dang these smaller hands!!!
  4. Which OS are you using? I had the exact same error when I was trying to use XP SP1 on my laptop. It installed fine when I hooked it up to my work PC running W2K. I don't know if the OS had anything to do with it, or not. The email I got back from tech support was the usual "try uninstalling and reinstalling". EDIT: spelling
  5. I bought the Auto Kit with my 60C. It's a great deal for the money.
  6. Well, at least that makes me feel a little better. The only other place I thought it might have been was in the belly of my 9-month old!
  7. My new 60C came with the beltclip already attached to it. Is there supposed to be a cover if you remove the beltclip "nub"? I didn't find one in the packaging.
  8. OK...so I brought the GPSr to work today, installed the drivers on my work pc, and tried installing the firmware. Success!!! So...MapSource was updating my 60c without any problems on my laptop, but the firmware wouldn't update. Strange. Oh well...at least I have a workaround for now. Thanks for your replies!
  9. Thanks. My firmware is at version 2.20. Everything seems to be working fine with the unit, except for the fact that the 3.0 firmware will not load.
  10. I've tried running it about half a dozen times. Always crashes. I think it only has 2.x on it. How would I confirm this?
  11. Batteries are brand new. I just got the unit today. I tried their phone support, but they closed at 5PM CST. I sent an email after trying the phone call. I was just hoping someone here had seen it before. I'm gonna be sad when I find out I got a bum unit.
  12. I mean the 60C 3.0 software. I'm running MapSource 5.4. That update worked fine.
  13. I just tried installing this firmware update on my brand new 60c, and got the following error: App: Updater At: 3/3/2004 11:48:35 PM (UTC) OS: Windows XP Service Pack 1 Processor: Intel Processor Level: 15, RAM: 392632 KB XFERTHREAD.CPP-795-2.6 Any ideas? This really bites...
  14. Well, I just ordered a Garmin 60c. It's my first GPSr, and I can't wait for it to get here. The family and I spent the weekend looking at all the different models, and decided to go for broke. What's a tax refund for anyhow? Now, I get to spend the week downloading cache sites to hit this weekend. I can't wait! Later -
  15. I learned about it in the Jeep L.O.S.T. forum. Now I just have to make up my mind on which GPSr to buy.
