  1. Thanks for the update. And for the information on the approval date - I think I got that wrong in my memory, so I'm sorry for bothering you with that one.
  2. I investigated a little bit. The ones not working are those with visits. And if I change the date format form Germany (dd.mm.YYYY) to mm/dd/YYYY it works. Same applies to the page with the category grid: if I have a different date format I get an error message and additionally the listbox grows with each try by four entries. See image:
  3. Well, there seem to be some more changes in the background: For example the site does not allow reading of the category pages (for example Framed Views) or waymark pages in the list (for example my last one in the category Kiers Gård - Højer, Region Syddanmark, Denmark) without a validated login any longer. I have seen, that this applies to most of the pages now. My java program to create the user statistic pages (see https://wm.familie-frohne.net/count_user.php) used to crawl through these public available pages to create the entries for these statistic pages. Without those public available pages the statistic pages will no longer be updated (at least until I find out how to log on "programmatically" before crawling the categories again). I also had to notice that the approval date in the listing page is missing. I may not view some of my waymarks (for example https://coord.info/WM13PER - where I get redirected to the error page), but I'm allowed to edit it when it is displayed in the category list (https://www.Waymarking.com/cat/details.aspx?f=1&guid=43a392e1-8bbd-4eaf-9eb0-247e22de2ea8&wft=2&uid=e7285268-748d-4e40-ada8-cc100ac950f6&st=2 ). That seems a little bit odd ... There may be other issues, I have not found yet. Yours, Erik.
  4. If nothing else you can try the Wikipedia category (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minar-e-Pakistan). Since it is a national symbol, it is also an official turism attraction (see https://visitlahore.com/attractions/minar-e-pakistan/). Satellite image oddities may also accept this (see https://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/minar-e-pakistan/), but here I'm not sure. Unfortunatly it is not part of the inscribed property of the Unesco World Heritage "Fort and Shalamar Gardens in Lahore", which is next to it (at least it was not mentioned in the document on the inscribed property).
  5. If I understood Alfouine right, the car will be accepted in Permanent Car Displays, because it is in a museum that is not a car museum. I'm a little bit confused on your insistence that the car would not be accepted there ...
  6. Is the car part of of a car museum then? By the one picture you offered I can't tell ... Otherwise I would just try and post it to Permanent Car Displays ...
  7. I knew about the possibility since I started with Waymarking at the end of August 2020. My first edit was a red telephone box that moved to another place and was converted to a free little library (WM69H3). I've used this feature quite often recently to fix wrong countries and regions for waymarks or to correct coordinates if they are obviously in the ocean - just to get the statistics right ... .
  8. Nope - my knowledge of the French Language can be reduced to "Bonjour. Douze croissants et deux baguettes, s'il vous plaît. Au revoir." (Good morning. Twelve croissants and two baguettes, please. Goodbye.). When I met Phil we both talked in fractured English and with hands and feet ...
  9. I met pmaupin at the Mega GIFF in 2021, after I saw his signature on another event earlier that day and we had a good talk. I also know that some cachers I've met personally some time ago (in about 100km distance) do some Waymarking - but caching is more on their focus.
  10. Well ... I saw this challenge two weeks ago on the last post of Andreas. It was on Saturday while searching for a newspaper article with the St. Catharine church I realized that the city of Salzwedel with about 21,500 inhabitants had no waymarks prior our (unfortunately really short) visit at the end of March. I just managed to take some pictures around the church before the light got to bad for my smartphone camera. But the result is 11 waymarks in 7 departments.
  11. "Signs of History" probably - since it states the time frame of the excavation (October 1892 - Mai 1903 (or 1908 - the number is not really readable)).
  12. As far as I can see you are right with your findings. And I can also imagine, why there is no category for "Movie Theatres" in general. If they would serve meals (I know that this is very unlikely from the description you gave us) the place could be accepted by "Movie Theater Meals" ... So the best fitting category would be "Vintage Movie Theaters" - but you'll have to wait at least until 2030, as they say in the description that the theatre "has also been in existence for more than 60 years." ....
  13. Although I live near Cologne, I didn't immediately find any buildings or places directly related to the Hanseatic League - admittedly I didn't search hard enough. Apart from the obvious Hanseatic cities in Germany (Hamburg, Bremen, Rostock), the other cities probably won't much advertise their affiliation with the Hanseatic League. Accordingly, the question arises as to how one wants to present the topic as a Waymarking category without getting too much overlap with other historical categories. I'm curious how things will continue.
  14. Huh? That (archived) category was not visible in the grid last week when the voting for giant letters started - why now?
  15. I was asked by "YoSam." if there is a problem with changing the profile. He explained, that he wanted to change just one row in his century club category list and got the message "Image tags that contain data are not supported." when he tried to save the text. So I tried to do a similar change on my profile and got the same message. Thinking that it might some misbehaving HTML code, I copied the text to a file and cleared the text box for the profile. Saving the empty text box succeeded. Then I started to input some new text without any HTML tags and the error message appeared again: Even entering a single letter is not possible without seeing the error message, so currently a change of the profile is not possible. I don't know if this is a side effect of a change they did for the geocaching platform, but I think that this is another nail for the coffin, because I have to assume, that Groundspeak will not put any energy and money into fixing that bug.
  16. When creating a virtual Groundspeak said in their donation note, that you should be aware that some information may be obtained by google search or Waymarking. So they know about that possibility. If the creator of the virtual does not stick to the warning it is his own fault. And yes, I use this feature also quite often ...
  17. As I expressed in my denial this category description needs more work. Currently I'm not sure what they really want to accept. And as you pointed out there is also the category "Ginormous Everyday Objects" where the giant shoes might fit.
  18. I agree that the fix should be easy (but I don't know the code), but from the financial aspect (costs of fixing that bug versus how much money could the fix generate in return) very unlikely. And then there are currently only about 9048 different waymarkers that have posted a waymark since the start of Waymarking, only 412 waymarkers posted in the last year. I guess that there are probably about 5 times the number (~ 2000) active waymarkers that do log visits, but never post a new waymark. Compared to around 2,000,000 active geocachers, the active waymarkers are a negligibly small proportion (smaller than 1%) - and thus not really interesting for the management.
  19. As I wrote a little earlier the update of coordinates is not done automatically: After the import of the new waymarks the coordinate of these are missing in my database. My program runs a query and does an import of these missing values by reading the according waymark pages. For all other waymarks that have already a coordinate this is not done. Checking all the waymark pages again and again to find the changes would take at least 14 days minimum for each run - so that this would be impractical. Seeing your need (and with that also the amount of work coming my way) I refined a small Tampermonkey script (see https://www.tampermonkey.net/). The script that can be found at https://wm.familie-frohne.net/downloads/WaymarkingDBScript.user.js and will add a small window on the waymark page that allows an update of the coordinate (and who approved the waymark) in my database when clicked. See the output below. Simple, but hopefully useful.
  20. This is a known one to me ... I had some buildings in the past I wanted to waymark that were created around between 850 and 950. In the categories that had this date field as a mandatory variable I entered 1/1/1000 and mentioned the real date in the long description. I still wonder why the date field was restricted that way ...
  21. Happy new year for everyone. I wish you that you stay healthy and that you always get something suitable for Waymarking in front of the camera.
  22. Thanks for the trust in my abilities, but .... since the access to the profile page requires a login my program can't retrieve data from these pages (I suppose that you took the data from the category grid page). The data collected for my database are from the waymark category pages and the according active(!) waymark pages only, as they do not need a login for display. So my database could only give you a value for distinct posted categories (also on active waymarks only, so the number may differ from the profile page).
  23. @wayfrog: I'd like to use the following image as the one for the grid: ( https://erik.familie-frohne.net/wm/nordicheritage.gif ). Thanks for the update ...
