  1. Thank you both for you replies.
  2. maybe I searched the wrong Key Words. In numerous posts I have seen reference to getting notifications about newly published caches and newly posted logs on a mobile device. Can someone direct me to the area to set this up or set me straight on whether it is an option or not. Thanks in advance
  3. I posted this elsewhere, but since the update, the communicator has been sending the files to my GPS but they are not showing on my GPS. I use a Nuvi 200 and have had no problems until the update.
  4. I am having a problem loading caches onto my Garmin Nuvi. The Communicator works and says it is sending it, but it doesn't show up on my GPS. I tried it again and the Comminicator tells me that the info is already there and asks if I should overwrite. I pick yes and it writes succesfully, but still does not show up on GPS. Is this a gc.com issue?
  5. not sure how I do it, but I got my premium membership just before the Site went back down for the updates' update and haven't been able to do anything.
  6. If I understood your post and the way things work here, your friend needs to be at least registered on the geocaching site to view the listing. No need to be a premium member to view them. As a premium member you are given an option to make caches for premium members only I do believe. hope that helps
  7. Thanks for all the replies. Bruce, just remember that you told me that. I have been known to make a paragragh out of a simple statement.
  8. I love being outside and until recently I had not been doing it much. I am glad I found this community.
  9. 1. I giggled because the post I left was very much like your idea, just a little shorter. 2. That makes sense. We are having a nice cold and snowy winter so sometimes I get as close as I can in the truck, look at the drift and then look for the next one on the GPS. I decided I would practice up on mircos and park and grabs until it gets nicer. 3. During winter months, when you are foolish enough to tromp through the cold and snow and don't find one, do you make some kind of mention in your log about how the snow may have hampered the search or is that too much info to log? I have seen some logs where people have mentioned that the cache was frozen in place. That kind of info is what I am curious about. Mr. Dolphin, It was on the first Cache Page that I made the note. I would never make it seem like it was the CO fault. I also wasn't upset to pick it up, more that the patrons and the Park District allow their Park to pile up so much trash. Again, Thank You to all of you for the quick and helpful replies. I have really enjoyed my time here and at the goecache site so far.
  10. I totally understand not logging it as a find, I did post a note on the cache page and just wanted to make sure that was acceptable.
  11. Being still very new to this great game, I find myself with some questions. I hope no one takes offense if ask some of them in one post. 1. I recently went to a park that I have never been to in my area to check out a few caches. Pulling up to the parking are for the first one, I had to make my way around all kinds of litter everywhere. I spent a good 15-20 minutes picking it up and putting it in my truck because the cans nearby were full. I sadly gave up my plans to search for any caches, but I wanted to log my visit. My question is almost two part. Is my posting of a note on the cache page about my visit acceptable? Was describing the scene acceptable? 2. A friend of mine(who is starting to get into caching) and I were recently talking about Logging DNFs. Our views on it differ and I was curious as to how the community feels about it. The question also came up, if you "scout" a cache location to check parking or whatnot, does that count as a search attempt? 3. When logging a DNF, what kind of info about your search should you post? encrypt? I know I will have more. I look forward the answers and thank you in advance.
  12. I too was drawn into caching while updating a recently purchased Garmin GPS for riding. A buddy of mine ( who is also now into caching on this site) and I spend a great deal of time riding our motorcycles all over. Of course neither of us could wait til we went riding so we have already found many of the close ones to our homes. Being my first post, I would like to add how much I have enjoyed the geocaching site as well as the forums here. So many nice and helpful people enjoying a great sport. I look forward to many more great convos here as well as the many adventures I am sure we will have while hunting.
