  1. It goes in a "Slot" at the Top of the M Series Palm. (Look for Elec. Contacts that Match up with the Piece that Fell out.) The Item you have discribed is a Part that when "spun" causes a Vibration. This Vibration is used when the PDA is set in the Vibration Mode. (Alarm Function mostly) If you still can't find where it goes let me know and I'll get you a Picture.
  2. There was this one a few Days ago in the Garage Sales $20.00 + Shipping! http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=200651
  3. Your Handspring Visor Pro WILL work Great with Cachemate! Email me if you have Questions about the Setup.
  4. This should Help.... http://www.floridacaching.com/index.php?op...20&Itemid=9
  5. Miragee; Why do you not Recommend using the "WebUpDater"??? I've always used it with ALL my Garmins and have Never Had a Problem! Am I missing Something?
  6. My Palm 505 uses a separate USB cable to charge or the cradle. When I purchased it on eBay the 12 volt adapter to plug into the cradle was missing so the cradle wouldn't charge the battery of the Palm. The separate usb cable wouldn't stay plugged in to the Palm so I was having a difficult time charging the battery. I found a 12 volt transformer to plug into the cradle so I'm fine now. Beware of cables, CD's with software & manuals included or missing. I paid $15 plus shipping but probably would have been better of paying $30 & getting all the stuff. Also, buying it from the original owner might be better as you're likely to get better info about the condition. Good luck. CBFlyfisher; Be Careful with a 12Volt Transformer to Charge a M505! The Transformer Needed to Charge an M505 or any other "M Series" Palm is a 5.0 VDC 1.0A . The 12 Volt my work for a Short Time, But WILL Ruin the Charging System, and Most likely the Palm as well!
  7. I would try an "In Cradle-Soft Reset" While the Unit is Hooked to A/C Power. After the Reset let the Palm Shut itself off and let it Charge for Several Hours!. This will Reset the Charging Curcuit and should work fine.
  8. Install this Program to your m500... http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/z-digitizer.shtml AFTER the Install, it will prompt you to Calibrate the Digitizer. Once the Digitizer has been Calibrated Delete the Program from the Palm! It will Work, and give you many more Years of Use on the Palm. This Program was Designed for the Palm V Series, but It also works Great on the M Series.
  9. As a newbie, I’ll let you in on a little secret. That worry should loooong be a thing of the past because it’s a reality. I really like geocaching and I’m having a blast and have become addicted but one thing I’ve learned from these forums. It attracts a WHOLE lot of petty, argumentative, questioning every little thing, strongly opinionated people. Every other thread erupts into some flame war. And what I don’t understand, is Geocaching basically doesn’t have any rules so why do people post relentlessly about things that don’t matter. Maybe this lack of rules is what leads to these heated discussions. I wouldn’t change a thing though, I like the few rules there are. I’ve learned quickly…don’t mention stats, lame hides, tough hides, puzzle caches, caches with some sort of agenda, small containers, the words “lamp post”, reviewers policies or lack of, etc. The stats arguments are absolutely filled with people with deep psychological issues. Concerned about people posting false numbers in a game with no rules, watching with bated breath others numbers and how they change, judging how they find caches as a group or an individual in relation to their number of finds. WHO CARES. It simply amazes me that anyone cares if someone has 2 finds or 20000 finds. Finally, as a person who has basically “grew-up” in the internet generation and has spent a lot of time on various different forums….Your right on cue with your post. All the “I hate to be snotty….”, “READ THE FAQ BOZO!” people don’t understand forums and they just say this to make themselves feel better. A forum is supposed to be a community of people with similar interests who are all learning together. We all have our personal levels of research that we like to do. Yes, “What is the best GPS” will get asked over and over and over again but ya see….If we all stayed at home and did ALL the research ourselves about every little thing, what the heck would we need the forum be for? There are very few topics posted that haven’t been asked/posted or discussed before. If you don’t accept repetition that provides opportunity for a new look on an old subject then you might as well close up the forums right now because it’s all been done before. And of course this begs the question why does a person who hates seeing old questions get asked again hang out in the “Getting Started” forum? What exactly are you expecting to see here that isn’t in the FAQs or can’t be found in a search? A newbie asking a questions that hasn’t been asked before? Think about that for a minute. My hunch is that it gives the replier a chance to berate someone else and in turn make themselves feel better. Just a guess though. VERY WELL SAID!!! Looking at the "Stats" for Some of these Cachers who are Hanging out in the Forums offering their "Expert" Advice, I Find that alot of them have very few "Finds" or "Hides. Many have Hundreds to Thousands of "Posts". (almost as if they are trying to make up for a lack of actual "Finds", and feel that being an "Arm Chair Cacher" with Huge Numbers of "Posts" Counts for Something? ) Geocaching is about Getting Out of the House, Finding New Places, Seeing New Sites, Meeting New People, and Signing a few "Log Sheets" along the Way!
  10. Not intended to be snotty, but I believe there are links to software on the resources page of geocaching.com. Or google them. Try reading a little and then if you are stuck ask for specific help. In the Time it took to be "Snotty"....You could have given this Person some Real Help! I get so tired of People who are on the Forums all the Time, Posting Snotty, and Rude Comments. Alot of New Cacher come to the Forums for Questions, and Hoping for an Answer. Instead of Making them feel Stupid for not Using the "Resources Page", or "Search a Topic" Feature.... Maybe inform them there is a "Resource Page" or "Search a Topic" Feature, and offer them Help in using them! We were all New at One Time, and the Geocaching Forums are a Great place to get a "Bad Impression" about the People who Geocache! IMHO
  11. This will inform you on the Subject of the waas Problem. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=185052

  13. The Guidelines from Groundspeak Do Not Allow us to have "Multiple Items' FOR SALE. There seems to be NO Consideration to whether we are Making a Profit or Simply Offering a Needed Product, Information, and Service to those Seeking to "Go Paperless". These are the Guidelines that "Big Brother" as Set, so we will work to stay Inside those Guidelines! Cache on my Friends! I don't see anywhere that mentions "multiple items", and have taken it up with the appeals board. As stated above, we (at least I) don't make any profit on this. I am into a 4-figure deficit not including my time and labor in providing inexpensive PDAs. I I'd like to add that part of get more up to speed with paperless caching usually includes Pocket Queries, pushing new cachers towards purchasing a Premium. But hey, if they think we are horning in on their profits, please cancel my account, I'll spend my time fishing instead. I'd suggest that anyone that has, or would like to, work with any of us that have offered PDAs and/or setup assistance in getting started in paperless caching, PLEASE let geocaching.com know. I feel that we improve the hobby, and unless geocaching.com is all about generating income for the sites owner's and not improving the experience they will allow us to continue. Oh, and as long as I have an account, don't hesitate to contact me with any paperless caching "how-to" questions, I still happily answer them. Cheers, TheBattons TheBattons, I agree with you all the way!!! I have already went to the Appeals Board" and this is the Response and Consideration I received from them; I am sorry but the moderator is correct. The GPS Garage Sale is for the occasional sale of items by geocachers (like, one or two spare PDA's). Selling multiple items is not what this is for. We appreciate your helping people with paperless caching but sales of more than a few items are not allowed. Thank you, Michael Groundspeak - The Language of Location I even ask for Suggestions on how We can Help Cachers who had the Desire to "Go Paperless" and still stay in the Guidelines. I feel that their Response was LESS than Helpful!!! I too will STILL help anyone who has Questions concerning Paperless Caching. Email me; mkarehart@charter.net
