Do You Want All Finds Listed In One Account?
tiki-4 replied to anet's topic in Getting Started with Waymarking (Read-Only)
The WM site appears to be taking on steam. More depth to the options gives greater breadth to the player. The problem with listing all of the finds or waymark ownerships is the numbers involved. As this is evolving, one could end up an owner of well over 1000 per player, and 5 times that many in finds..... The one headache is that requirements vary between directories, categories, sub-categories, and being able to log it as visited. Some are as easy as the virt, some are harder than the original LC. Can't there be some standard? This will mean that some cats/logs get more attention than others and will get flooded. Can a server list? This has the potential to get very deep......................... -

Agree with last post, as this is a place to visit, not avoid. I also like someone getting the coords and forwarding them to the local LE. But the real warning is that any place that has this activity is dangerous to transverse, and booby traps are a real concern. Even in the National Parks such as Kings Canyon & Sequoia have issues with growers, so we all need to be open eyed. But for some reason, human beings have a fatalistic fascination with certain things (drug havens; crime scenes, & car accidents) and posting them would lead to further danger to a player.

Category Proposal:
tiki-4 replied to Elburto's topic in Recruitment and Category Proposals Archive (Read-Only)
Dont agree with the restriction of the word 'military' as there are starter cannons, cermonial cannons, decorative cannon types all around the world. Some were never shot in anger. One concern would be for a cannon park. I know of several that have over 10 different size cannons all within 500', so what would we do for that? Maybe have the waymark inclusive of any cannons within 550' from the center point? Maybe the category could be "Things that go Boom!' and sub categories could be Ship Cannon; Shore Cannon; Howitzer; Artillery piece; Railgun; Launcher; Other..... -

Scouting Subcategories
tiki-4 replied to evrik's topic in Recruitment and Category Proposals Archive (Read-Only)
Wonderful idea. GSA Gold Award is the same level as a BSA Eagle Scout. Also, might want one more category for the Venture/Rover program, as most of WOSM has a lot of 15-21 year olds who are in those programs. Glad someone remembered to request inclusion of all facets of Scouting, as BP and the Mrs. created both programs. Council locations, camps, and history also do not violate any of their rules. As long as the requirement is of the arch, sign, or gateway, than anyone could find the waymark without violating any property rules. Europe has as many scout camps as the US, and Asia is catching up fast. -
Remove Military Installations

Change it to: Closed, BRAC, or abandoned military bases and training sites. That would open it up world wide. -

YES!!!! This would cover a bunch of current virtuals, but it would also bring the rest of them out of hiding. There are at least 50 in PA and 5-10 in MD alone. -
Really crafty way to keep everyone informed!!! Living up to your 'House' name

Wow, get off the coin boards for a few months and every state org now has there own coin, and ebay is off the rails. Made a bid for a few with a top end of 5.50, just to see how high they went. Amazing stuff and potential material for someone to due a thesis on....any business master or crowd psyc canadates out there?

Virtual Caches
tiki-4 replied to nwc_voyageur's topic in Getting Started with Waymarking (Read-Only)
Is GC wanting to isolate the sport to only containers in the woods? I dont think so.... From what i have seen, they are just trying to divide up the labor on the servers to equal them out??? -
Make sure you have a digital camera, to help record the answers, in case you lose what ever you are tracking the data on. You can also get a lot of flowerman's caches in the area, as they also hit historical key points.

Yours is a personal coin, while state coins are organization coins. Personal coins are special, as it took the backing and fortitude of an individual cacher to produce them. They are generally lower in production quanity and are very hard to come by. Org. coins have a lot of players behind them, and it seems that lately, have a wider market, and can be bought to get started in the collection. This is like the disney pin craze, just as it was ramping up. I bought 5 AK, 5 MI (non log), and 5 TX and yet i cant find a trade for the 4 excess of each that i have. If i found a moun10bike coin, do you realize how many offers i would have for the trade?! When i finally get my act together and get a coin made, i would love to trade you for one of yours....you have a cool logo!!! But to trade a state org coin for a personal coin is going to be tough.
