  1. Well be in attendance. We have our reservations all set at the Motel 6. Looking forward to any caches since it's all new territory for me. BTW just got the CB installed in the jeep so that's good to go.
  2. Definitely love finding Path Tags out in the wild! A blank log sheet isn't so bad either.
  3. Amazing KWvers! Just think at Yuma event in February you two were only a measly 15,000!
  4. Way to go condor man and kawikaturn on 9,000 Congrats to condor man and kawikaturn! Huge numbers! You guys are awesome! CONGA RATS TO ... condor man and kawikaturn on 9K! Wowza! Congrats on 9K Cah-V-cah-turn & condor man! Congrats to you both! It's a big accomplishment! Great job on 9K! Huge numbers being put up here in Southern California.
  5. A good place to start http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...1e-f139513b9340 San Diego Concensus Favorites
  6. Count me in for rural caching also. I'll do urban caching but probably with a group planned by someone elese. I'm more of a dirt road / desert cacher. I just lead a group (6 vehicles and 15 cachers) a couple of weeks ago on a 58 cache day over one of the local truck trails here in Southern California.
  7. YIPPEE..............LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are now on our Jeepin' list. can't wait for the first run! Congratulations Nancy............. The Splashes Thank you!! I'm soooo excited and still in shock!! My husband completely surprised me – he and Collin came home from "running errands" with a Jeep and said "happy birthday!" Oh my gosh…I can't believe it!! Then I thought, uh oh…how does he know what I'd like??? I've mentioned a few things, but then I found out he's been talking to some key people: the Splashes, one of his non-caching Jeeping friends, and Tom. Oh…THAT's why it's so much like the Blue October!! No complaints here!! I LOVE it!! Yay!!! I still can't believe it!! Looking forward to that first time out, Janie!! I hope it's more of a "green circle" than a "black diamond" trail to start with. Did I say that I still can't believe it??? All I can say is WoW.....you have a pretty nice husband and little son! I was suppose to get a treadmill for my birthday and I'm still waiting. Congrats! I know lots of JEEPers that will show you the ropes...you'll be in good hands! Have fun Nancy! MMM..... Toss up between a jeep and treadmill Woohoo! Looking great. Congrats on a great Jeep. Hope to see everyone on the trails soon!
  8. First off we didn't even see a snake today poisonous or not. So no one died or got lost. Thanks to Red Buggy Man, Bronco Busters, Foothills Engraving, KE6MAE, Lionhouse75, Fossillady & Flat Black, Luv2Bake and Thunder-4. All I can say is thank you for an awesome day. Glad everyone had a great time. No breakdowns or flats ( I even bought a hi lift and ensured that no lock existed on my spare this time). We got a little separated at the end due to different PQ's. I really need that CB installed so we can keep comms on the trail. Only one DNF on the day, which was expected due to the previous 6 dnf's but I thought for sure it was in there so at least had to look since I found this one last year. To anyone planning on doing the PDTT they have locked the gate to the lookout tower and you have to hike to the last two caches. We decided to skip these for this trip. I had a blast caching with everyone. All and all an awesome day of caching. Thank you for sharing one of my favorite trails with me.
  9. Definitely bring some sort or walking stick / probing stick. As desert caching slows down it's not unusual for natural inhabitants (spiders scorpions lizards snakes) to create homes in geopiles. Use a stick or pole prior to reaching into piles or crevices. Great start posting here in the forums. See if you can't schedule a run and get some of the local cachers to come out and help you along. Weather: know what the weather will do before you leave. If there are forecast-ed storms don't go. The Desert flash floods very easily with a major downpour.
  10. Sounds like the old stone house on the hill, we almost gave up on it and decided to take a few pics of the walls when we spotted it, no snakes roday Correct the cache in question is a unique fixer upper. Glad to hear the snake decided to move along. It's on my watchlist because of the challenge when I found it. Just one of those caches you like to see the follow on logs. Harmon, I definitely respect the fact that I'm sharing the snakes natural habitat and it's more his than mine.
  11. I hoping not. It seems all the San Diego snake magnets (fishnjack, chuy and snflwrmh) have other plans this Friday.
  12. Honk! That's McSweeny Farms! I'd know it anywhere... James. you've got a mind like a steel trap, you don't miss anything. Harmon Since I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you yet, I decide to keep my trap shut. But glad to see that James thought the same thing I did. Ask around, when it comes to me there's no reason to "keep [your] trap shut." It's really fun to post a straight-line like this one and know that LLOT will jump all over anything with a "Mc" in it. Of course he prefers "Mac" thangs. By any chance, are you also Scottish? True blue american...LOL My mom's side has Scottish, and the rest of Europe I think, in it. Dad is Canadian German.

  14. Glad to see hear how many people are already confirmed. Seems we might have several cachers come over from AZ for the trip. Nothing confirmed yet but hoping. The reason for this post. As I just found out the GC for the start in my original post is wrong. The start is GCQ1AF. Also I received a note to my e-mail from one of my favorite caches up there and some cachers ran into a rattler and had to pass up on the cache so we must be vigilant when we're up there.
  15. I'm planning a trip up the Palomar Divide Truck Trail on Friday June 4th. There are 58 active caches and one physical puzzle cache up on the trail. I already have most but loved the trail up here and am looking forward to clearing the ones I don't have. J&J were just up here last weekend and said the trail is perfect. The plan is meet at GC1AF (White Matter) at 9am and head up and over PDTT. I plan on heading up to the lookout tower, and then back down the backside and finishing off at GCQ5YV (ORA). The baker valley trail spur gate is closed and do not plan on hiking down and back up for the four caches. What you'll need: A high clearance vehicle. This is a dirt road with some large ruts in areas. 4x4 is NOT required. Most SUV's will make it easily up and over the trail. Camera some beautiful views up here. Picnic lunch and plenty of water. Walking stick / probe for those caches hidden in rocks. EPI Pen if you're allergic to bee's. Many logs and my personal experience there are lots of bee's on the trail. I know there are some cachers in the area that have never been up here because they don't have a vehicle with enough clearance. If you have an empty seat and would consider sharing it, would you please post so we could possibly show more cachers this wonderful trail. You can contact me through geocaching: Ramona Retired Snipe or directly to my e-mail. d.a.scholl@sbcglobal.net Hope to see many on the 4th!
  16. Read all about it! WooHooo! Two Hall of Fames for Luv2Bake! Great Job!
  17. http://images.google.de/images?hl=de&s...ved=0CDEQsAQwAw Wrong type of Yucca. To the OP, if you think Yucca hides suck, then try finding a micro in a pile of dead Joshua Tree branches. Way more fun! What's even better is finding micro's in dead Joshua tree's branches in Yucca Valley. Go figure....
  18. And here I thought you might have a grand adventure planned for us.
  19. Quite an acomplishment after what you've been through in the past year. So glad you made it onto the podium and had a blast hiking one small part of your accomplishment! AWESOME JOB!
