  1. Unopened program box, complete. I would by FAR prefer to trade for the 24K East version if you have it and need this one. No price listed because I really just want to trade...but you can make an offer if you want. Please email me at mahp2004@yahoo.com Thanks!
  2. Ok, I sent my 60c in for repair and instead of repairing it they just sent me a new one. That's great! Only problem is that I have City Select 5 and though it was unlocked for the old unit, when I try to transfer maps to this one, it says this GPS isn't unlocked. Ok, it's been over 2 years since I had to do this so I don't know what to do. Someone please help? Thanks!
  3. I have been out of geocaching for the winter as we usually take my daughter who is 3 and it's hard for her to enjoy the cold for long. I have been touring on a motorcycle however and have used the gps often. I bought my 60c right when they came out so I still have the v5 software. I see they are now on v7. When would be a good time to upgrade, or should I upgrade at all? I suppose some new roads on my system would be a good thing, but I don't want to upgrade just before they have another release. Also, I see some talk about City Navigator. Will that work on my 60c and should I switch to that instead? Thanks in advance! Sorry I'm such a lurker!
  4. I have had a 60C for almost a month and have logged 6 or so caches. I have also used the City Select on numerous occasions in different cities. I haven't had any problems, with excetion of my power button moving slightly. The electronics seem to be rock solid and dependable.
  5. The "lock up" you guys are talking about is entirely different. I can still turn the unit on and off, but the switch is in a different physical location under the rubber housing.
  6. Desert Warrior, I am a Master, and have 10 Leg points. I use 77gr SMK, 80 SMK, but I'm now getting sponsored by Hornady so I'll switch to 75s and 90 JLKs. LOL! Varta, thanks.
  7. I had my 60c in my back pocket yesterday while hiking. Later found it would not turn off. Eventually I took the batteries out and decided to test it later. When I replaced the batteries, I began to poke around the power button, and found a "sweet spot" where it would turn on and off (about 3mm toward the antenna). The button must have shifted inside. Can I take this apart and fix it, and still have it waterproof?
  8. Bad-Dog, READ THIS: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...6189&hl=easygps
  9. How do I put actual deg,min,sec coordinates into a Garmin 60c? I can't see a way. Thanks!
  10. Thank you...consider my question answered.
  11. IOW, say I find a cache with a TB in it and I can help the fellow on his way. In the cache I also find something I could actually use. Seems to me that I am not taking the TB, but moving it, so I can still trade for the item I like. Right?
  12. I found a cache just yesterday with a knife in it. I was pleasantly surprised, and I left it there for someone who might need it. I know some of you think it is an awful thing to have in a cache, but I grew up with a knife in my pocket and I've owned a rifle since the age of 6, and I have never misused either. We cannot keep "protecting" our children from perceived evils, but rather, teach them to use TOOLS properly and with respect. Off my soapbox for now, but this (newbie) geocacher likes the idea of a knife in a cache.
  13. Ok, looks like GSAK only supports a serial connection, not a USB?
  14. Part of my problem is that the easyGPS program doesn't list a Garmin 60c.
  15. Ok, got my Garmin 60c, and I see the search page where you can find local gc's, and the "dowload coordinates" link, and the "read about downloading" link...AND the different programs like easyGPS. Do I need that to get started? I downloaded it but I don't see a 60c option under Garmin...maybe I need another program? What do the programs do? What's the rest of the procedure to find my first geocache? TIA!

  17. Had the same problems from home. Just did it at work...piece of cake.
  18. I caved... I called Garmin again, now they have no release date at all... (????) Bought a 60c and I'm done with it.
  19. Where is the factory? Someone should post a lookout and report on the happenings on an hourly basis.
  20. I don't know how much longer I can hold out. This will be my first GPSr, I've never "geocached" before, and I'm on the road for work right now and keep looking at some local caches and thinking about how bored I get here when I'm not working. It'll make a man go out and buy a cheapie GPSr just to have something to do. Makes me want to order that 60c too...AARRGGHH Bought another book to slake by thirst for activity over the weekend. Albany (and later Warner Robbins) Ga isn't a real happening place.
  21. Just called Garmin, they're saying they will ship sometime next week. Not-official.
  22. Hi folks, I 've done a lot of research, and found that a Garmin 60C or cs would be perfect for me. Garmin says the release date for the cs is the no later than end of March. Now that I have found out all about geocaching, I really have "ants in my pants" and really cant' stand to wait. Would you guys wait for the cs model?
