  1. Hope you can help. There seems to be a bunch of benchmarks listed in my area that are along the railway. How do I access these areas? I was told as a kid that it was trespassing to even walk along the rail. I live very close to the mainline of the pennsylvania RR, now Norfolk Southern, this area is hoppin' with trains all the time. I am real familiar with the area and could probably hunt for some of these but not sure how to go about it. Feedback would be appreciated. Thanx.
  2. I just started caching this month...so all i know is cold and damp here in PA. I have spent alot of time in the outdoors hunting, fishing, working, skiing, etc. The best combo of clothing I have found is Poly based long undies and a pair of military fatigue pants with a regular tee shirt and a fleece up top. I block the wind with either an unlined rain coat or a hooded lightweight jacket. The boots, as long as the feet stay dry all is well--to keep them warm try the walmart variety nylon blend socks they usually sell in sporting goods. Hat and gloves are the critical components, as said in an earlier post. It may not look glam...but i always stay warm and dry.
  3. I am located in the southeastern part of cambria. we border somerset and bedford--some major forest land that way.
  4. Will do. I hope to get up that way this coming summer. I am interested in visiting the state parks up that way.
  5. Thanks. I looked at all the postings for Pa. in the thread and found none close. I really am looking forward to finding some folks to organize at least an informal group. This particular area has a large amount of potential for geocaching and alot of outdoorsy people to share the "sport" with. I just started and take my kids with me....they are hooked, as am I, and we get to hang out and work as a team to find the "hidden treasure" (that is my young son's interpretation of geocaching).
  6. Pretty new to Geocaching but absolutely love it. I am from cambria county, the forest hills area, pa. Looking for some other likeminded folks to get a group of cachers together from the area. If interested email me at caseyfoxred@gmail.com. The area has many caching opportunities to get out and cache.
