  1. I would have assumed that the top 1% would have had extremely healthy caches. I also assume that cache health pertains, at least partially, to having long-lived caches. Which brings me to one of that 1%. He has hidden less than 30 caches 13 years, with 5 active at this writing. The others were archived with an overall average lifespan of 2.6 years. I think I understand why he now refers to himself as a "top cacher"
  2. To the OP... You could not get all worked up over caches that aren't yours.. If the trackable is yours mark it as missing, and move along. If it also isn't yours, it's log status probably won't have any long term affect on you life.
  3. When I see someone, I just ignore them, and go on about my business. If the politely ask what I'm up to, I'm happy to tell them. On the other hand, if they decide to get in my face, threaten to call the cops, or just threaten me, the gloves come off. I have as much right to be there as they do, and they can kiss my stern.
  4. I just picked up my latest finds PQ. Unzipped it, opened GSAK, and ran FindStatGen3 (latest version). I noticed that FSG was saying I had found 271 fewer caches that I really have. Turns out, none of the found Lab Caches are in the PQ. Anyone have a clue why they weren't included?
  5. That is the term I use. Muggles just don't sound right to me, but I'm not a Harry Potter fan either. Same here. Non cacher is a bit clunky, but I can't think what else is better. I sorta like unwashed heathens
  6. Is there any real good reason that we now need 2-3-4 extra clicks to log an NA? Why can't you just add it to the log types, rather than make us jump through various hoops? And while you're at it, please lose that "A geocacher reported" nonsense. I wanna be able to write what I thing is the issue without having to edit my log.
  7. You can access your watchlist and favorites from the right sidebar of your dashboard page. You'll find Lists about midway down, just below Premium Features. Of course, they couldn't just leave it where it was....
  8. I would rather have the eclipse as a souvenir. Not planning a trip to Canada any time in the future.
  9. I'm gonna think about adopting the I-5 one. If I do, I'll have to move the final up to Tacoma.
  10. If so, count me in! Already got the APE icon, but not the Giga. That'll make a dandy crowd between the tunnel and Seattle. Think I'll head out to the Coast.
  11. I just rummaged around their FB page and website. The website doesn't look like it's been updated in a couple of years. OTOH, they do answer posts on their FB page pretty quickly.
  12. A DNF log doesn't mean the cache needs maintenance. It means someone couldn't find it. I'll check on a DNF'ed cache of mine depending on a couple of factors: 1) How tough is the hide meant to be? 2) How experienced is the DNF-er? If it's supposed to be a difficult find, I'll sit tight until there are a few DNF's by well-experienced players. If you've found 30 (for example), DNF a 3-4 Difficulty cache, and then holler that it's in need of help or not there, try again. I've got a 3D cache out there, whose hint is a spoiler. The 3D is due to the amount of muggle traffic around the hide. One cacher is pretty insistent that I give him more clues cuz he couldn't find it. If it's a 1D, and there's just a couple of DNF's I'll go take a look. We have a couple of Reviewers in my area that seem to think 2 or 3 DNF's mean the cache has major issues. So they just slap a disable on it, and give you 14-30 days to go "fix" it. They did that to one (not mine--belongs to a friend) that was a 5 D!! Of course it's hard to find. It's supposed to be! It has a Disable slapped on it after 2 DNF's. A NM normally log means you found it, and it has severe issues. The trick here is you found it. Although sometimes, a NM asking for a look-see gets posted. Especially if the cache hasn't been logged at all in many months.
  13. Ask your reviewer. He/she is gonna know. Everyone else is guessing.
  14. For me, the main reason is using PQ's. I have something near 30 active right now. Before GS decided to let Non-Premimum members get away with logging PM caches, the PMO feature was useful. It did help protect caches that were expensive or very difficult to put together from a lot of "issues". Now that the PMO feature is nothing more than a joke--and a crappy one at that, I've pretty much stopped investing the $$ and time to build nicer containers.
  15. I would be contacting ebay and getting the sale stopped.
  16. There's a cacher in the Netherlands, turner1985, that is discovering coins right and left. Doubtless, from a number list, as the three of mine that he has logged so far have never been to Europe. They are currently in my basement.
  17. I had the same issues with three different Tritons. After I had returned the 3rd one for a refund, I went to an event and met a cacher that worked for Maggy at the time. According to him, there was a huge push my Maggy to get the Triton model line on the shelves. In fact, the company was in such a hurry, that they didn't allow for much in the way of testing the things. My friend told me that in his opinion, Triton was about 6 months premature. Maggy didn't have a lot of interest in fixing the issues that were found by the public. As far as he knows, they still don't. Since the Explorist modelline was in the pipeline, and was allowed to go through all the testing, there have been a lot less issues with it. I've had an Explorist 300 for three years, and am pretty happy with it. And BTW, my Maggy friend was one of the Triton developers.
  18. Since I didn't see these questiosn being asked, I'll ask them: 1) Why do you care? 2) How does his caching and logging affect you? 3) Who elected you the logging watchdog? Edit to add: I logged 2350 in one day. Wanna accuse me of Armchair caching?
  19. Why are you so interested is someone else's affairs?
  20. Which two of these three? https://coord.info/GC69JZ6 (I'm assuming this is one of them as there are big blank spots in the cache description.) https://coord.info/GC69BP5 (And that this would be the other one.) https://coord.info/GC6F5KC Perchance the images missing are logos of commercial entities? B. It's the top two. All the images were run past the Reviewer and approved at the time of submission. Sounds like it's a FB problem, so the owners will have to re-do the links. THanks, folks.
  21. Two events coming up in Port Orchard, Wa in August are not showing the images on the pages. Any clue why?
