  1. pardon me, but what do you all mean by the border patrol in summersville?
  2. i got my order today, geocaching first aid kit, travel bug and a patch. Every thing is good but the patch. Its a iron on and only half of it stuck. Very dissapointed... aj
  3. hmm may 22 or 23rd.... isnt that labor day weekend or something? If so il be be camping, or out on my jet ski at sutton lake... I just skimmed through the topic, where in sutton would you all be meeting? at the lake or what?
  4. if some one was going to keep him and not drop him off, why pick him up? glad to here he is now back in 'circulation'. I picked up my first bug (logged it) and ill probibly keep it for a month till i go to another state and drop it off. And i feel kinda bad holding it for a little less then month, or a little more. aj
  5. Ths may be a stupid question. Im getting ready to send in my rebate form to get my $30 on my magellan sportrak map. it says to include the sales reciept, rebate form, and the UPC code from the package if applicable. Does that mean i gotta cut the bar code off the box and mail it in? I dont want to do this cause i generally keep all boxes from high end purchases for future referance, or if i sell them in the future (they tend to sell better with all original contents). thanks aj
  6. looks sell. If it looks like crap are you going to buy it? A good example, your buying a car and say they blotched the paint job, it wont effect performance but are you going to buy that one vs the same one for the same price with a perfect paint job? The unit does look good, but use i think they could have made it a bit more 'attractive'. aj
  7. well i have a magellan blazer 12 around here somewhere.... since we moved i havent been able to find it..... I bought a sporttrak map I cant say i have left my GPS on my car but i have done something similiar. While camping i brought my 1/10 scale 4wd rc monster truck (gas powered) and i left a couple screw drivers, fueld bottle, and a $100 temperature gun on my rear bumper of my truck. Well i drove off with all of it on there. I reliezed i did that half way down the road. Mom and dad had seen the fuel bottle and got it. I went out on bike and found the battery (crushed by a car) from the temp gun on the road. and feared the worst for my temp gun. I found it on the road but fortunantly it had only a couple scratches. I found one screw driver, but couldnt find the other aj
  8. my primary was on wgs84, but secondary wasnt. I changed it, ill have to see if it made a differance now thanks aj
  9. will do! I have heard my model will get from 68-70+mph, kawis fastest production. looking to get some jetpilot board shorts, maybe a lyrca shirt depending on how my kawasaki life jacket rubs my skin. I heard the speedometers on skis arent very accurate, i dont have a radar gun, but a gps should do go! maybe put it in the 'glove compartment' below to handle bars, or something. I still got to pay taxes and licensing then insurance, GAG! lol. aj
  10. OIC..... with that being the photo gallery it would lead you to believe (well me any ways) that it would directly link you to the full size image cause it is in the image gallery. thanks for the help. aj
  11. heres one that isnt working for me. The first picture titled "geo cache at erta ale" works but the other DO Not work http://www.geocaching.com/seek/gallery.asp...cb-23421a06bcaa
  12. A lot of the time any more the pictures dont work on the cache pages. When i bring up the gallery and click a picture it just redirects me to the log page of the cache. This has happened on 2 different computers and is getting kinda frustrating. aj
  13. I got stuck for only a few minutes the other dayat this cache in a 2wd s-10. the tire rut in the front of the pictures is from the front wheels, and its 2wd rear wheel drivel the rear tires where in the creek, you can see one tire mark in the creek. But i got out with haste. aj
  14. way cool, i wasnt the auther but i found this thread WAY helpful thanks! I thought i needed to buy a prog to do this! aj
  15. Congrats mike! BTW that was my cache he found lol
  16. jetskier, thanks for the reply. My sporttrak is new so i assume its the newst prog. Ill check in the morning, BTW, what kinda jet ski do you own? I just aquired a brand new off show room flor 2003 kawi ultra 150, 1200 cc baby! Itll be my first time on a jet ski but i have been on a boat since i was 4 weeks old! lol.
  17. I have a sporttrak map, i may have over looked this in the manual but is there a way for the GPS to record or save your top speed? say i was wanting to see how fast my jetski would go and i couldnt hold the gps while driving it. Can it record/save the top speed so you can go back and view it? thanks!
  18. Cool sutton, I just got my jet ski, and i know some roads that go out to into sutton lake. I was thinking of placing a cache close to holly river but the rules say you cant place one on vacation. But we gothere many times during the summer, just not the winter. Who would be interested i a cache on sutton lake? aj
  19. hmm go idea on the batterys, also that thought just hit me a couple horus ago. Im thinking that my next cache will be a 'survival' theme where you have to trade survival items. i think thatd be a neat cache. aj
  20. I placed my order sunday evening, it says they ship in 2 buisness days.Today i had no tracking number or shipping confirmation. I sent a e-mail got a reply (withen a few hours) with my tracking number. There turnaround is good. But sine they are on the west coast and I the east itll be a week before i get my stuff. But they didn say if every thing was instock.... i guess ill find out next week. aj
  21. ROFL LMAO, ya i think id went into hiding too, lol.
  22. You do realize that it could have been the hider's coords right? (35 feet isnt that bad anyway) well every cache i have found so far has been from the same person (the ones i mentioned were all in the same multi cache hunt). I may have typed in the cooridenates wrong or something. but like ya said 35 feet aint bad.
  23. i own my 2nd megallen The brand really doesnt bother me. They all serve the same purpose right? the only downside would be the hardcore brand bias folks and lack of others to help you if you have a problem. But hey if your GPS is good, why would you need help? lol. heck so far my magellan sportrak map is so so on locating the actual spot of a cache. The first one i found was off by 35 feet. the second i couldnt get a good signal on (building in the way) and the third was spot on after it got a good signal. aj
  24. with me being new and all to this i just wanted to make sure i took the right actions before hand. Im not really concerned about finding tree stands, i just worry about finding the hunters. I dont hunt on public land, this being a good example, you never know what (drunk) idiot is around the next tree (shooting at anything that moves). Like i mentioned im going back tommaorw to write on the cache with permanent marker and take some pics. aj
