  1. Most of the world is divided into "haves" and "have nots". Now, unfortunately, these forums have become divided the same way. I "have" the means to pay for a premium membership and was actually considering it until now. However, I refuse to be blackmailed or otherwise subtly coerced into premium membership.
  2. Where's Halden? No one else here appreciates my sense of humor.....
  3. I think the best approach is to be straightforward. Contact the cache owner and tell him of your concerns, especially regarding the park officials possibly prohibiting caching in the park system if they see the condition it is in. Tell him you would be happy to help him in any way possible and see what his reply is. (I wouldn't ask him if he got permission to place the cache yet.)
  4. Exactly! I agree wholeheartedly. Another point being missed is that there are some people in these forums who DO attach undue importance to the number of finds made by others. I don't care enough about this to go searching through the forums, but I have seen instances where someone has implied that someone else doesn't know what they are talking about (or that their opinion is of no consequence) because they do not have very many cache finds showing. And, I am sure that there are people who do not post to these forums because they are reluctant to subject themselves to that type of ridicule. What's the score, anyway? I bet someone knows......
  5. I am in it strictly for the fun. The only challenge is to myself. That is why I do not log any caches found. I would do so if numbers were no longer posted. When I was in about 4th grade, the boys used to have contests in the rest room at school, to see who could pee the highest on the wall. I thought that was silly then, and I cannot see the difference between that and the people who visited a certain city and "bagged" (their term) 301 caches in 6 days (72 in one day). To me, that is just a blatant attempt to add to the numbers and not something that I personally would be proud of. I do, however, always leave a note in the cache log itself thanking the person for hiding the cache, along with any other observations or comments about the hunt. By the way, I have actually been a member since July 2001; I changed my nickname due to a conflict.

I will quit when I decide to, not when I hit some mythical "magic number".
  7. Are you at 0%?? Read topic to see how you can get your warn meter to 10, 20 yess even 100 %. Wanna know about the tadpole title under your name? After a certain number of post it will change to geocacher. Ok, thanks for the info. I will try to keep my nose clean.....arr, arr, arr!
  8. "Whew"! Thanks, I thought I was in trouble already.......
  9. What the heck is this "Warn" thingy, and why am I the only one who has it?
  10. Oh, now this sounds like such a cool idea! How did you find information about the cache you located? There are a couple of big new Gander Mountain stores around where I live, I wonder if they have these firetacks.....guess I'll have to stop by and find out.
