  1. Ok I am a bit confused here. Your saying the pocket query I ran and that was sent to my email I can place into GSAK? How?
  2. SO the dvd does not come with the memory card correct? What you are saying is to buy the 2gb memory card than load the TOPO and Nivagtor areas of interest on it? Which screen does the topo show up on and which screen does the navigator? thanks
  3. I have a Garmin 60CSX and would ike to add Nivigator as well as TOPO software to it. I was wondering if the TOPO and Navigator software can be used together at the same time or can you only do one or the other? I guess what I am wondering is can you switch from screen to screen between the two? Also do either of these software programs come with a memory card? If not what is the biggest size memory card I can get for my 60CSX? Can you fit all of TOPO or Navigator on a memory card or into internal memory or do you have to pick and choose the area to download that you will be at? Thanks
  4. My first question is how do I update the caches I have transfered from Geocaching.com once they are on GSAK? I would like to be able to update them from time to time to track the status of the cache (people finding or not finding) and so on. I was also wondering if there is a way to transfer caches faster from Geocaching.com to GASK? Right now I have to send each GPX file individually and also do the same when I upload to GSAK. Just wondering if there is a way to send in one bunch to save time? My last question is that I have started to do some pocket queries and was wondering how I can get the info from the query sent to my palm pilot. I get the email with all the caches but I am not familiar with how to get the info to my palm pilot? Thanks
  5. You will see the cache getting closer on the navigation screen, the icon will get closer on the navigation screen, and if you have information boxes set up to tell you distance or time to the cache, they will show the numbers running down. There is a way to set up proximity alarms: Main Menu>Setup>System>Proximity alarms on Do you think it is better to use TRACK UP or NORTH UP? Advantages/disadvantages?
  6. So when I get to the cache or close how will I know on my GPS? Is there a way to make an alarm to let you know your in the area?
  7. Could you please tell me how I can get my pocket queries sent from Geocaching.com to GSAK? ALittle lost there...thanks
  8. Thanks for all the help!! I need a little help on how to get the pocket queries from Geocaching.com to GSAK?
  9. I am a new geocahcer so please bear with me. I just got my new 60CSX a few days ago and have read over the instruction manual however I am still somewhat confused. I have downloaded the GSAK software and have transfered some to my GPS without any problems. What I need help with is getting from point A (either home or where I park my car) to the cache. I need to know what to clcik on with my GPS (screen wise) so I can track to the cache. I have not loaded any software such as TOPO or Navigator into the unit yet but do plan to in the near future. I guess I just need to know the basic way to track to the cache. How do I know when I am close to the cache or heading in the right direction? Also I have an older PALM Pilot I am going to place my pocket queries on but I need a little advise on how to get them from the Geocaching website to GSAK than to my Palm pilot. As always thanks for your help!
  10. I am new to geocaching and I just got a new Garmin 60CSX however I want to go paperless so I am in need of a palm pilot. I have read many forums about people saying what they bought and for how much however I don't know a thing about palm pilots. I will more than likely just head to Ebay and pick one up there but I first need to know some good models to go with the models to stay away from? Once again thanks for your help in advance from a very greatful new geocacher!
  11. I was thinking of adding TOPO software....any other suggestions or ideas?
  12. Thanks for everyones advice on the different gps models. I purchased a 60 CSX and will use an old palm to download cache info!!! I'll let you know how things go...THANKS AGAIN!!!

    Geocoins

I want to get into placing geocoins into some caches I hide and was wondering where I can get the best deal on coins? I would like to eventually design some of my own however if I can purchase a few already made I am ok with that as well. I am also a little lost reading on here about how you can track them...? Can someone tell me just what it'll show me when I log on to the page to track them? Thanks again from a new geocahcer!
  14. I just was wondering as a new geocacher if people who have purchased the Idiots Guide to Geocaching have found it worth the money/helpful? Thanks in advance for all your help!
  15. Being that there seems to be so many problems with the Oregon series and working out the kinks is it better to go with the 60CSX or am I going to find I have a paper trail being that the 60CSX is not paperless? Just want to get off to the right start being a newbie! THANKS in advance for the help.
  16. Can someone please explain to me what will show up on the Oregon screen vrs. the 60CSX screen geocaching wise? If I understand correctly the Oregon will allow you to download all of the clues from the cache listing but what does the 60CSX download if you connect it to your computer via a USB wire? Sorry if I am sounding confused here....just a new cacher!
  17. I am in need of some help getting some questions answered. I am new to geocaching and need to buy a GPS which I have it narrowed down to the Garmin 60CSX and the Garmin Oregon. I have read many forums about people really liking the 60CSX and that the Oregon is not what it is all cracked up to be. So here are some questions I need answered: 1. Please explain just what "paperless" means as the Oregon does it and the 60CSX does not? People on here are talking about bringing PDA's and palm pilots with and I am a little confused. Just what will the Oregon be able to upload that the 60CSX can't? 2. Do I need to invest in TOPO software if the gps I buy does not have it already on it or does it not benefit the average geocacher? 3. I can get the 60CSX new for 292.00 or the Oregon 400t for 462.00.....what would be the better buy in the long run? It just seems from other forums that the 60CSX is a real workhorse and that people are having a lot of problems with the Oregon series. 4. I am also confused by all these other software programs to help manage things. What one(s) do I need to help simplify things? I just want to start off on the right foot so any insight you could provide me with would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!
