  1. We have a night cache here deep in the woods. you go to a set of three reflectors and turn on your track log on your gps. Then you follow the trail of reflectors. when your at the end your gps draws out the next step of the multi you have to complete. As far as regular caches go. There is an ammo can in a very crowded part of town. when you open it a loud alarm goes off directing everyones attention to you. Kind of scary but fun for those who know its there.
  2. We were in a park and I was just about to give up on this particular cache and I leaned over close to the ground to try to get a gound level view when a tiny brown bunny exploded out of the palmeto bushes and breezed right past my nose! It woke me up and I found enough adrenaline to keep looking until we found the cache!
  3. I have on more than one occasion ran into things while trying to walk and put in coordinates at the same time. I have stepped into holes and lost my footing. I have since learned that no matter how bad I want to get to the next cache I have to stop punch them in and then go. I have also gave my wife a heart attack while trying to look at the Gps and drive. I can see trying to explain to the officer why I caused an accident. He might reply as follows " You are geo What?" Caching officer it's a game ....Nevermind just give me my ticket. D.W.G(driving while geocaching.LOL
  4. I was looking for a nano on a pedestrian crosswalk over a major intersection and I spotted it inside the end of the railing. I could only get two fingers in the end to get it and below was a 30-40' drop to the water. I was so worried I'd drop it. Luckily i didn't but I was wondering has that ever happened and You actually did drop it or broke the cache and had to replace it?
  5. I ran into a couple that I have read about many times in various logs. They said the took a Dnf on this one and walked away. I walked right to it and yelled I found it! They came back over and signed the log too. It was nice to put a face with the names I had read about.[]
  6. Try using damp rid. Place them in a trash bag put in a tub of damp rid tie bag and let it sit overnight.
  7. I have ran across many animals here in Florida mostly harmless but I have also encountered more than my share of poisonous snakes and Alligators. Whats some creatures you've came across?
  8. Yes I still have some cans left. what is the shipping cost on an ammo can?
  9. Oh No! Not another muggle asking what are you looking for or a cop asking your doing what? What is geocaching?
  10. The codes are GC122AC and GC10GG5 let me know if you really want to do them and we could meet up and do them together. They are both right next to each other.
  11. I went on 3 seperate occasions to this one cache and couldn't spot it only to go home and see someone logged that they found it. How Frustrating. I did find it after a hint from a friend. It was a Magnetic#2 letter on top of a light pole 10' up with the log behing the magnet. I felt so stupid! If your gonna be dumb you gotta be tough!
  12. Here is what I used for one of my puzzles. http://www.scholastic.com/spyx/pdfs/Cipher_Wheel.pdf And to make it even more difficult I translated the letters into spanish. Check it out! Feel free to use it if you wish. I will tell you anything you want to know about it. GC1KJ7Z Ranchland Romp.
  13. I have a cache by me that you have to wade through a swamp to get the cache. I checked logs and the owner says it is for those who are undaunted by terrain! This water has green algae growing all in it. I mean NASTY water. I havent given up on it yet but I am planning a day to go get it with my brother in law. We are going to put on our waders and get it. Has anyone else come across any this difficult to reach?
  14. Wasps and bees are less active at night. If you find a nest wait til dark then you can walk right up to it and remove it. Also a relatively cheap way to get rid of wasps is to get a cup of water add a couple of squirts of dish soap. then add some water. Make it really sudsy. Then simply throw on nest. The soap coats their wings and they cannot fly. then they are harmless unless you pick them up.
  15. Hi I live in Apopka, Florida and i have a pretty good mystery cache. Check it out. Email me and i will tell you how to slove it. GC1KJ7Z
  16. Great idea! I am going to try that one. Thanks
  17. How was the kite string type of device that holds the string attached to the tree? I like this idea, but I don't want to put screws into a live tree. It was just the same as one you would find in a kite. He had it held in place by screwing a boat cleat to the tree and hooking it to that to hold it. You could use a ratchet strap to a tree thats closeby also you just have to camo it well.
  18. I know what not to wear. That is if you are geocaching at night. Do not wear all black. It may help you remain invisible to muggles but is sure hard explaining to the cops why you are all in black searching through the bushes. I just dress normal and comfortable and wait until the area is clear before I search.
  19. I hadn't thought about placing it high up in a tree - although it still could be done with one person and the right equipment After thinking about it a little more, two trees, about 100' length of parachute cord, two pulleys and a heavy weight may be just what the doctor ordered There is one near me I had to dnf the first time out. I returned with a friend and found it. It was camo mayonaise jar 30 ft in a tree. To lower it down you had to go to the tree and about 6'up was a kite string type of device that holds string. The string was actually power pro green fishing line and you had to unwind the string to lower it. the string was ran through and around the branches. It worked great. I thought the string would frey after rubbing against the tree but surprisingly the stuff is strong. It is however expensive.
  20. I found an evil cache yesterday. It was a puzzle cache and took me a while to solve it. when i did solve it I finally found the evil cache. It was a concrete parking stop behind a grocery store. At first it looked like any other parking stop but it wasn't fastened down on one side. I kicked it and it slid. Ah ha I said. The rebar that holds them in place had been removed and the cache was inside with a 2" piece of rebar on top to look like it blended in. I pulled up the rebar and lo and behold there it was. Once I found it I could appreciate the effort that went into hiding it.

  22. I also wonder who actually takes trash out with them when they go. I will be honest I dont always do it. My wife however is really good at it. I try not to destroy the vegetation when I go for a cache. We all need to be better geocachers!

  24. The best cach I have found yet was a cache called eye for an aye. coordinates took me to a subdivision entrance sign. There was no place visible for a hide. Finally found it. They drilled a hole in the wall behind the letter I in the subdivision name and glued the micro to it and re-inserted it. It was perfect.
