  1. If I provided a Radio Flyer Red Wagon could you tow me behind you? Ya know, while this creates a whimsical image, I'll bet it could be done!
  2. I'm going to do my best to make it to this one.
  3. If the tunnel is accessible to road bikes, I'm assuming it's accessible to a power wheelchair? Not one of those "Rascal"-type scooters, but a regular electric wheelchair. I want to to do the tunnel SO badly, but I simply can't walk that far; a quarter mile, round trip, is the farthest my legs will carry me, and only under extreme protest. I've been staying out of my chair (yay!) and hate the thought of even riding in it since I haven't used it in months, but the length of the hike makes it impossible for me to do on foot. I'd love to do the other caches along the way, too, but I've no idea if that's possible using the chair. Is there a bookmark or route that plots the terrain so I can judge whether or not my chair can make it? Oh, to be able just to do the whole thing as a bi-ped... For ease of loading and unloading my very heavy chair, I'll be driving my van (it has a lift). I'll gladly play ferry for as many as can fit inside in return for someone who can show me where I'm going.
  4. Of course you do. You did. At no small effort. Yes, some spelling and grammar might be corrected, but this is for cachers by cachers, not an erudite publication for academia. Most articles will go out as the author wrote them. Actually Ed I think he was making a well made point. Also that was our tag line "By cachers for cachers" However they still have to be edited. Otherwise you get a lot of articles that are so misspelled and grammer incorrect that it turns off the readers. That's why we had April, Kylee, and Carleen. Believe me every time I wrote something, they groaned. El Diablo I'm practicing exemplary editorial control and restraint. It ain't easy.
  5. Oops I forgot one of our main stars. Criminal was an original staffer and had huge following of readers, more than any other staff writer. He always showed up every Wednesday for the meetings. Never mind that everyone else showed up on Tuesday. I'm sorry I forgot to mention you Chris. You were a huge part of the magazine and will be again if the time ever comes to revive it. El Diablo Never mind. Nothing to see here.
  6. Payment was mailed today, but thanks for the offer...it truly is appreciated.
  7. The 600 is sold. The Map 410 is still available.
  8. Reply sent. Sale pending; just like that cute li'l yellow thing I'm sellin', this is pretty much a done deal, too.
  9. Sale is pending, but is pretty much a done deal.
  10. So much for beating around the bush about needing the money...I really need to sell these (sale of the yellow etrex is pending, but pretty much a done deal). Maybe I should ask how much they're worth to you guys? Make it a package deal...both GPS receivers and the accessories mentioned for one price...PM me with an offer and I'll make a decision. I can't just give them away, but it appears that desperate times call for desperate measures.
  11. No interest? I'll take $35 for the Magellan Map 410, and pay for the shipping of the eXplorist 600 myself...that's about the best I can do. I really need to sell these. I just added a yellow etrex for sale here, too.
  12. This Etrex was my second GPSr; the screen has always been protected with a clingythingy made for such a purpose. Works as good as new, and I'd say it's in excellent condition. There are a few very minor rubs on the case, but you really gotta look to see 'em. The lanyard and serial/USB adapter are freebies. You'll need the adapter if you buy a data cable and your computer doesn't have a serial port. $50.00 plus shipping. I really need to sell this, along with the two other GPS units I have for sale in this thread. I can do PayPal (preferred) or personal check/money order. Thanks for looking.
  13. My first GPSr, a Magellan Map 410. Yes, it's older. Yes, it's bigger. However comma...this antenna still keeps those flying birds under lock and key better than many of the newer GPS units. Instead of "waypoints", this model uses "landmarks", and is more of a marine unit, I think. Included is a data cable, DC cable (Not intended to charge the batteries, but it will keep them from discharging while being used in a vehicle), Mapsend CD ROM and user guide. This model will work on either two or four AA batteries...I'd never seen such a thing, but 'tis true...I tried it. I rather regret selling it, but it's yours for $50.00 plus shipping. Next is a Magellan eXplorist 600. Included is the GPSr, data/charging cable, and CD ROM. Now, there's a very minor 1/4" long scratch on the screen...barely noticeable and only if you hold it at an angle, and thinner than a human hair. Right after I purchased this unit, caching became very low on my list of things to do, and as such, it was barely used. I'm caching again, but the buttons on this GPSr aren't as easy to operate as those on my MeriGold, so the eXplorist is for sale. I'll tell ya what I'm gonna do. Act now and I'll throw in a 32 MB SD card (oooh! aaah!) with as many MapSend DirectRoute maps as I can fit on that puppy. This will give you the locations of the nearest McSwag shop, not to mention malls, hospitals, gas stations, etc. nearest you. $250.00 plus shipping. Let's see...that's...carry the one...figger in a discount for buying both...$285 for two GPS units, plus the cost for shipping (insurance recommended). I can do PayPal (hate the 4.9% they're gonna want from me, but it's convenient). I'd rather not take a check, as I don't even have a new bank account since I moved from one side of the country to the other. If a check is all you can do, though, I'll work with you. Know how, when you move, ya gotta buy new stuff for your new place (food, clothes hangers, etc.)? Well...I'm gettin' hungry and my clothes are on the floor. Okay, okay...that's a bit of an overstatement. I really do need to sell these, though. Thanks for taking the time to look.
  14. *raises hand* Earlier today: Half an hour ago or so: After being in SC for way too long, I'm absolutely lovin' this weather!
  15. ConSmurfulations on the new addition, Sax. Good-lookin' kidlet.
  16. My cache description of long ago, for instance, (url=http://www.todayscacher.com/2004/sep/outdoors.asp[/s], "How to "Disable" a Cache", may actually become one of the most widely-accepted instances in which "gimp cachers" may face, realistically-speakingives pause for the entire "disabled" population of handicapped geocachers, is, in my opinion, an invaluable method for ]] I'm proud of ya. Tee PLEASE pardon the typos; I'm not only exhausted, but there aren't many things lately that warrant my individed attention. To my knowledge, anyways.
  17. It's NOT all about me, nor do I want it to be so...but because I never received the hiking staff I won over three years ago, I'd like to throw my name into the hat. No sour grapes nor bitterness here...merely a request that the right thing be done after so much time has elapsed without so much as a single, "I'm workin' on it". If this makes me sounds egotistical and/or petty, so be it, but I prefer to think that, at one time, I was a fervent advocate of caching and did much in creating an awareness for the activity. Yeah, I'll most likely regret this post, but it certainly won't be the first regret I've ever experienced. ::cynicism::
  18. In addition to what's been stated above, to ensure that a child has FTF honors, wouldn't a parent would have to be involved? That alone would make the parent privy to the coords when the hider hid the cache, I would think.
  19. Planet!!!!! How cute...and mondo bizarro, if that is, indeed, a TB! And srt4guy...you might want to rethink your offer. My son just gave his left nut yesterday...for different reasons. The outlook is good, though. I wouldn't have mentioned that, but Planet has met him, and she'd want to know. Miss ya, girlfriend!
  20. My husband works with security and alarm systems of all sorts. I found this in the garage today, destined for the trash: I plan to hang it on the back side of a tree just off a half-mile long trail, and will either hide a container inside it, or tape coords behind the spring-loaded door and use it as the first leg of a two-stage multi (if the final were close to a fire tower or fire station, even better). Has anyone hidden anything in this manner? If so, how does it go over? If not, I claim the potential bragging rights.
  21. I'd rather cache by myself on the edge of a cliff in the dark in a secluded location than the location described by the OP; I'd feel much safer. Sometimes, the truth hurts...I see the log as necessarily harsh.
