  1. I'm lazy so I don't look long. 15 minutes max?? Although I might go back a couple times on other days. Not sure how these other cachers can go 1-2.5 hours! That's cray cray. If I DNF and think I didn't give it enough time I'll say that in the log.
  2. Actually the first "Döner's Tag" event was held on Holy Thursday in Berlin to honour the Döner Kebap (click here). Hans Seriously? It's a day celebrating meat?! I had no idea, interesting. Thanks for the info! Though I'd waaaay rather celebrate PIE. Not much of a meat eater. :D
  3. Lol!! So I guess your answer to my question was, "Not me, I'm in traction!"
  4. Oh that is a huge bummer!! Hope you were well enough for the leftovers at least.
  5. A force field that is impervious to mosquitos, ticks, and stinging nettles. A bison tube sniffer outer for when they're hidden in super woodsy areas. I get too impatient. The ability to twitch my nose and have food appear for all those times I come ill prepared and get hangry.
  6. CONGRATS!! I think for your reception everybody gets a GPSr and they have to "find" their way to their table or to their piece of cake.
  7. I didn't place these, but I found them: Stuffed animal - pig. (it's tied to a tree so it never touches the ground and wasn't dirty) Plastic moose head. Shoe. Many things from hardware stores including a Women's restroom sign. (log was on the back of it). Spider. Bird. Those are a few off the top of my head.
  8. Get new caches into her phone: She needs the Groundspeak geocaching app (I like that one) and all the caches in all the world will be right there. How to log: She can log from a computer or she can log from the above app while out caching.
  9. Congrats on the holiday finds!! I had to look up turkey picadillo and it sounds yummy!!!!
  10. You let 5 miles stand between you and a Thanksgiving day cache?! Haha just kidding. I didn't make it out either and I was not flying.
  11. Oh now!! It won't be that bad. In the 30s and only an inch or two of snow. I planted one once in a blizzard. People came looking for it in that blizzard. The only way to get over the climate here is to dive in. Try walking across a frozen lake at 20 degrees below zero towing an ice House. Or going through the woods like that. Dress for it and have fun. I think that I will sneak out and get some. MN Treker means you're probably in my 'hood. It was probably ME that went looking for that thing out in a blizzard. See? I get out once in a while. I did go out one Christmas and the snow was up to my hips and it was blizzardy. (granted I'm short, but c'mon!) I thought when I moved here I WOULD dive in. Even joined a Snow Lovers Club and never went to one event. So far. Hehe. H A P P Y T U R K E Y C A C H I N G! Ya gota love Minnesota! I hid that thing in an April Blizzard. No you did not look I placed it in Brooklyn Park, MN I have now hidden it again in Cambridge, MN Bring a longggg TOTT. I think that I ran into you at a Happy new year guardrail10 event. Have fun today. Happy Thanks giving Yesssss, I thought your user name was familiar! The bridge-y cache no one could find. Man, that was cold. The blizzard cache I tried to find was in Shakopee. Got out of the car and was practically in hip deep snow. No fun for me! Haha! Good for you for getting out yesterday! Actually we hosted so we were still cleaning and getting all the food prepared. Then we were exhausted and in a turkey coma after. Blah. We are about to hit 1000 so we have to make it good!
  12. That's why wine should always be served at big family gatherings! I'm "working" today so no sneaking out today, either.
  13. That just makes it more challenging. And fewer cachers get in your way! Happy Thanksgiving!

  15. I thought many months ago we all convinced you that cold weather caching isn't so bad! Whoa! You have a great memory! Well, I'm still a weenie, BUT I did actually go winter caching last year. I went out and bought a better, jacket, better gloves, better boots, and long undies. Set me back quite a bit, but I was toasty! (It's still not my favorite thing to do, though.) Maybe I could couch cache?? JK.
  16. If someone form Turkey sneaks away to Geocache they probably won't be going to Russia to do it. Very good point!! Just more trouble brewing.
  17. No time for me "before dinner is served" because I'm the one servin' it! Lol! Lucky! And very nice to be at a fellow cacher's house. They gitchya!
  18. Will your family even notice you're gone? Will it get you out of doing the dishes? Can you get back before the pie is served?! I likely won't. The weather here is supposed to be teeeeeerrible and I'm a big, fat, weenie. We are also at 999...
  19. Me too! But we live in a virtual world now. Virtual education. Virtual doctors. Virtual dating. Virtual souvenirs!
  20. Meeeeeee! Thinking about changing it again, too. ) I guess you must be thinking about doing it?
  21. Simplest way (camel's nose in the tent) might be to just download Locus Map Free, then go to the satellites screen. (Tap the compass icon at top of screen, then swipe sideways or tap "GPS".) Like a Garmin, it'll show a series of vertical bars to represent the satellites it sees. Hopefully a lot of 'em. I think Groundspeak's apps work offline if you want them to. Some of the others do too. I do almost all my caching in offline mode, because I'm a skinflint when it comes to data. Pre-load vector maps, pre-load some PQs, ready to go. Yeah, it takes a little while to figure out... Hm... not sure I'll understand all this so I might have to stick with my quill pen and parchment paper!
  22. Yes! That can be handy at times. Hmmm --- I had never noticed or clicked that link before. Same here! I just noticed it recently. Kinda cool! But mostly I don't use the friends list for anything.
  23. I'm definitely more productive since before I started caching. And smarter and funnier and prettier and faster and nicer and more able to scale trees, rappel down cliffs, and spelunkier. True story.
  24. Wow, thanks for all the great examples! I'll be checking them all out!
