I've searched all over the forums. I must be using the wrong search words. How do I receive an email notification for any new geocaches published in my area? I don't see anything in my account to activate notifications. Thanks!

That doesn't explain this statement: "I am disabling this because I used my own time and money to place this along with the rest of the Geo community. I wasn't payed to place this and don't support you making money off of my work. I will no longer take part in geocaching and all of my friends will be disabling there geo's as well."

Groundspeak's phone app limits 'basic' members to caches with a difficulty rating of 1.5 or lower. Debated OFTEN here in the forums, one of its purposes is to encourage players to put a little more investment into the hobby before exposing more intricate, more expensive, perhaps more vulnerable caches to incidental phone-cachers who may not have the perspective required to respectfully deal with other people's creations. Good or bad? Bag-o-worms. I have a "premium" membership using the Cachly app. Thanks for the clarification.

When you look back at your cache page after a few years, you'll have a few logs finally, but they might actually be interesting ones, someone taking the time (with a real keyboard maybe) to share their story. A page worth reading. It's like 2005 all over again. I'll make a more concerted effort at this. Thanks for this comment. I had been simply logging a thank you and an occasional longer comment. I guess I was following the examples laid out before me.

That's too bad. I understand your frustration. We were literally introduced to this 2 months ago, so we are using the phone app. While hiking, trail running, camping, canoeing, and mountain climbing (I guess basically anything that keeps us outside) are a big part of our lives, I'm embarrassed that we've never done this until now. We absolutely love it though. On a side note, what is the 1.5 threshold?

Yes! That's the one! We are still unable to log it because it has been archived. I did reach out to the owner though. I read their comment in the log. What do you think happened?

We are relatively new to this. I was looking at doing a geocache earlier today and parked my car within 10 meters of GZ. Landscapers were cutting the lawn right where the cache was. So, I decided to go back tonight with the family. I had seen a photo and knew that the cache was a Nalge bottle hidden inside a plastic fence post by the North Face store in Victor, NY. Anyway, we went back, found the cache and signed the log. Problem is, it's not showing up in the app or on this site in order for me to log the find. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
