  1. SporTrak Pro, D/C 4402, puchased from offroute.com on 9 September 2003, shipped to Alexandria VA (I'm an Aussie - I was on holidays at the time, and decided to take advantage of the low, low prices). No cracks. I'm not exactly gentle with it - it lives in the glove box of the car or the bottom of a backpack.
  2. Picked up a Magellan SporTrak Pro from Offroute.com during a recent visit to Washington DC. Total cost, including next day shipping to where we were staying - AUS$390 .
  3. Sorry if this has been discussed already - did a search on 'offroute' and/or 'membership' but nothing similar seemed to pop up. Premium Membership at gc.com is $30 per year. When I bought my Magellan SporTrack Pro through offroute.com, it said that the price included "a 5-20% contribution that will be made on you behalf to support GEOCACHING.COM." If it was around 13% or higher, then my purchase earned gc.com the equivalent of a year's membership. If I keep buying stuff through offroute.com (power cable, dash mount, etc), then I keep contributing to gc.com. My question - is there any way offroute.com purchasers like me could eventually rack up enough purchases to earn Premium membership? Seems to me that the dollars I earn the site through offroute.com should be just as good as those sent via PayPal... Cheers! Matt in Canberra, Australia
  4. Hi all A quick introduction - we're Matt and Hazel (aka Team Chiptole) in Canberra. We've just started geocaching, although we created a geocaching.com account waaaay back in September 2000 - ph34r our m4d 1337 three-digit user ID . We're using a borrowed Garmin 12 at the moment, and we're hoping to buy a unit of our own ASAP. We thought we might go with something cheap and simple like a Geko 201 or an eTrex. However, we've begun to lust after the Magellan SporTrak Pro. Minor hitch - magellan.com.au sets the retail price at AUS$875. gpscity.com.au will let us have it for AUS$499, if they ever get it in stock (two updates of the two week delay son't fill us with hope). gpscity.com in the US has it for US$299, with a US$50 rebate, for a total of around AUS$420. Our mum lives in Washington DC (I guess that makes her our 'mom'), so we could get the unit shipped to her and then ask her to send it on if gpscity in Adelaide can't get their act together soon. Long story - here are our questions: Is it possible to change the US base map to the Australian one? Where would we get the Aussie map from, and how much would it set us back? Could we back up the US map for when we visit in September? Can the unit store more than one base map in the writeable 23mb of memory space? How much Mapsend Streets data will fit in the 23mb? Is it enough for Canberra? Canberra and Sydney? A whole state? Thanks! Team Chipotle
