  2. It certainly is - 9am Saturday 9 June here as I post this and my coin has been placed. Though I'm not the first - I see a New Zealander got in ahead of me!
  3. Thanks Glenn for giving us a chance to be in the International Coin part of this great project! And thanks for clearing up the matter of starting it in a micro - I think they must be rarer here than in the US and the only one anywhere near me would be too small for the coin. As it'll be the 9th here before it is in the US, we can get a head start . . . but I suppose we'll have to finish before you too!
  4. Change that to: SOME Aussie geocachers pronounce it geo-kay-shing, some pronounce it geo-cash-ing and I think there are other versions! Also: remember that when you are here, YOU are the ones with the funny accent. Hope you have a great time, Camnpete.
  5. I wish I'd said all that. Couldn't agree more.
  6. Despite the OP asking for an "official" answer, most posts seem to be giving an "opiniated" answer.
  7. I’ve heard of all the following cases where the finder couldn’t sign the logbook but still claimed a find: 1. Found remains of muggled cache. 2. Found spot where cache had clearly been but it was gone. 3. Found cache with container and/or contents wrecked by elements (fire, water etc) 4. Found cache but couldn't open it. As far as an “official” answer goes, who is the umpire? http://www.geocaching.com/faq/ contains the following: "What are the rules in Geocaching? Geocaching is a relatively new phenomenon. Therefore, the rules are very simple: 1. Take something from the cache 2. Leave something in the cache 3. Write about it in the logbook" If you consider these to be the “rules”, if you can’t sign the logbook, then no find can be logged. (In theory they exclude TNLN, too!) On a semantic point though, what you log is a “find”, not a “signed the logbook”. I have logged a find in the case of a muggled cache, but sought the OK of the cache placer first, and emailed them photographic proof. I have also accepted such finds on my own caches.

  12. I believe that's from the Canadian National Ukranian Festival in Dauphin, MB Go to the top of the class! Beddy-byes for me now.
  13. I've no idea, but I've got a question for you A google image search using relevant words including "festival" and "Manitoba" gave this picture: What is it and where in Manitoba did it occur?
  14. Thanks - email sent - I hope it (and any reply) gets through, as my ISP and gmail have fits of "I'm not talking to you". A couple of my trades have got messed up by this.
  15. I’d forgotten how foreigners associate Vegemite with Aussies. What follows takes its inspiration from something in the Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. In that story, there was black spaceship that had black controls, labelled in black on a black background. When they were operated, a black light lit up in black to show what you had done. (Reminds me a bit of a CD player I had once, actually. ) So, given the base of black nickel, a Vegemite Geojelly obviously has to have a main colour of black with black highlights. The cacher’s name, flavour and tracking number should be filled in with black. Unfortunately such special requests are ruled out – if they could be allowed, I might just do it . . .
  16. Here 'tis. BTW what does "Markwell" mean?
  17. Time differences can be a bit of a problem - just signed on for Wednesday here! Email sent.
  18. I’m not surprised that there is so much confusion about international postage costs in the US! Here is a list of what I have received in Australia from the US recently (all posted since rates changed) giving the number of coins in the package and the postage on the label: 5 for $8.85 4 for $5.40 1 for $1.80 5 for $7.20 3 for $3.60 5 for $6.30 And, wait for it, ONE coin sent with postage $11.00. If there is a pattern there, I can’t see it.
  19. I'm not advertising, but just type "14eur in usd" as a Google search. Added in edit: just type what's between the quotes - not the quotes.
  20. 'Twas I who started that thread here. The problem is - there IS a website gc.com, though it seems to have changed a bit since I started that thread. I have also pointed out a case that was worse in a sense - no website at all - see this thread. Checking such things gives us pedants something to do
  21. This would appear when I choose to log on late for the day (3pm Saturday here). Not sure if there are any left . . .
