  1. But still hasn't managed to catch this one. Won't be long though. -
  2. You scrub up well Andi. and, congratulations.
  3. Ditto, but then again we've been to Austin again this month. I've loads more caches to log when I can find my notebook. Seems to have been mislaid in transit somewhere. Five trips to the States in the last 13 months and I've only arrived home with a full set of luggage once. They can get a man on the moon but they can't get a suitcase from Chicago to Manchester. But I have got a carrier bag full of travel bugs here and haven't had chance to do anything with them. Anyone fancy an inpromptu gathering for travel bug swaps at the weekened? Unless someone wants to call round here before midnight and collect them!! Lottsa bonus points
  4. More a case of good practice and ettiquette than an issue for guidelines. If you find it inconvenient to wait a short while for the person who put the bug in the cache to be able to log it in there correctly, then don't take the bug in the first place.
  5. Yes, that was a shame. Grllfrog is still around and still looking for Mr. Right. We had a few beers with her on Saturday night in Texas. Come on you single guys... send her a valentine.
  6. There are a large number of urban micros. Easy to find but can be vey hard to retreive due to the high muggle traffic. You will see when you do the first one. I did them the week before Xmas which has to be the worst time of year. Many of the locations have security car roaming around and you have to dodge those. Unfortuantely, ther aren't many inside the parks anymore due to GC not liking the commercial nature of the venues. Now how do they think that the Magic Kingdom is commercial?? If you are having a break from the parks, then head out towards Titusville. There are some great caches out there especially this one. HTH Alex.
  7. If you have to check everyone's scores then I can see it becoming a real pain. I thought that everyone just claimed their own scores and submitted their own totals? I have to agree with rutson, there's no way that trigpoints should be worth anywhere near the same points as cache finds. They are marked on maps and put in places that make them easily visible. It's not rocket science finding a trig point. And as you don't need a gps to find 99.99% of them, neither is it really anything to do with geocaching and COTM. I would favour trig points being removed from COTM altogether. My dislike of being able to claim 10 points for a travel bug that you see on a table at an event cache is well known. The emphasis of travel bugs is TRAVEL. Unless people move them then they don't go anywhere. 10 points for moving a bug along and 2 points for just logging it. Or even better 0 points unless you move the bug. No tweaking of the points was allowed during the whole of 2004 in case it upset the balance of COTY , so surely its better to try and iron out the rules before anyone starts posting scores for January 2005. Cache finds = 10 Cache hides = 30 Trigs = 0 Bugs moved = 10 bugs logged = 2 that's my two-pennyworth anyway... -
  8. Yes, he's a top bloke that Fruity. Here's a picture of him and Rutson out caching after the pub meet last Saturday. -
  9. You quite obviously don't understand the point that Teasel was making. Try to keep up to speed if you are going to post on this issue. And your Avatar title is not helpful and not funny.
  10. A great turnout. An excellent time was had by all even if the food was a bit ropey. Nice to see everyone again, and it jut goes to prove, it isn't always all about getting a smiley. -
  11. Some co-ordinates might have been helpful. See you there though, albeit a little late - as usual.
  12. It might have made things a little easier if he had explained what he was doing instead of just cutting and pasting an obscure reference to a thread on another forum entirely when he closed the first thread on the UK forum.
  13. I used to be in favour of using bin liners for caches as I concluded that it meant that a cache was less liable to be disturbed by muggles for many of the reasons highlighted above - body parts, dog poo etc. Now, having seen the results, I would never use one and do sometime remove the bags from caches that I do, particularly when the presence of the bag achieves little or nothing anyway. Use decent containers, that's the answer.
  14. http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4155403.stm MapAction website Amongst all the arguing about raising money and such, it's nice to see a ch@rity involved in the relief effort that at least has some relevance to our sport. Favourite ch@rities are a very personal thing and people usually have very strong reasons for giving to one and not another but there people have just jumped to the top of my list. 15. A T&J bear on Ebay?? ...now THAT brings back memories.
  16. My mum has told me to stay out of chat rooms.
  17. If this a party, I paid for my ticket, so I think I'm entitled to an opinion as to whether it's a good party or not, and whether I'll buy a ticket for the next one. And don't forget who pays the bills for Mr. Irish's house. -
  18. Well the ones in Orlando were hidden in lamp-poles in Wal-Mart car parks. Pretty easy to find. -
  19. Did some in Orlando just before Xmas. I'm ready for them!! -
  20. Opps.. I almost got my ticket bought before I noticed that you were advising people to get INTO the country, not OUT of the country. Jacksonville and my 2000th cache will have to wait a little longer.
  21. Jeremy and his Groundspeak mates were in bed (not together I haten to add). It was 5am on the West Coast. One can only assume that Keystone Disapprover thought he was doing the right thing by closing all the threads. However, all it did was open a larger can of worms. Ever seen the film Dr. Strangelove???
  22. Irritate? Moi ?? Some mistake surely. But in deference to those sensitive folks out in the colonies, I shall try to be a bit less flippant for the rest of the day. I'm sure Chris and Maria will be doing the same as they have had their forum account restricted for 48 hours (as has my SlytherinAlex account been similarly restricted) I told you mentioning the Dingle's would cause nothing but trouble. -
  23. How goes it in Florida, Alex? Have you found all those 500 caches yet?!!! Fair to middling. Bagged 50 on the first day, 18 on the second but now theme parks have got in the way. Looks like my target of 100 in the week is going to be unattainable. -
  24. That's a tough break. And with your local technical expert being 4000 miles away too. When I get back on Monday, you can borrow my spare. -
