  1. Your situation sounds similar, but one big difference is that quite a number of cachers had already logged the coin using the engraved number. At some point in time after traveling, the engraved number became associated with a different coin.
  2. Garmin Etrex yellow - got it in 2001, started caching in Feb 2004 (carry as a backup in my pack) Garmin 76cs Jun 2004 - Dec 2005 (stolen from my truck along with my cell phone, multi-tool and pocketknife Garmin 60cs Dec 2005 - ?
  3. I got an email today from a cacher who found one of my MD coins, and when he tried to log it, he had no luck. He asked me to verify the tracking number, and the one on my Owners Options section of the coin page did not match the one on the coin even though many cachers had already logged this coin. When he used the number engraved on the coin, it was for another MD coin circulating in Utah. When he used the tracking number I gave him, it worked fine. Could there have been some type of snafu with GC tracking number database?
  4. We'll take one regular. Silly us, we were within 100 feet of one last year, and didn't know it until a week later. Most likely get it next month.

  9. TFTB (Thanks for the Bump). I hadn't read this thread before today, and I feel the need to publicly apologize for leaving a negative feedback on this sale. While the feedback was classified as negative, my comments were (I feel) fairly neutral, along the lines of "Ordered 5 weeks ago, no coins, no response to email". Now that I know the whole story, I can sympathize with you, and I'm sorry for my uninformed feedback. I'm pretty sure I can't change my feedback (I would if I could), and I wanted you to know that I'm sorry and will be more diligent in getting the entire story first. Joe The Fun Group

  12. I recently released 4 MD coins in the wild (in Arizona, Arkansas, U.S. Virgin Islands, New Jersey) and I included a note similar to tokencollector's note. I chose not to deface the coins because I didn't think it would stop someone who really wanted it, and I just couldn't bring myself to do that. So far, they are all moving well, one of which has almost 9000 miles on it!

  14. If I came across one of these geocoin "copies", I would not log it. In fact, I would be a bit disappointed and upset if I saw an icon on the cache listing only to find a picture of the coin once I got there. To me, it's a slap in the face which says, "I don't trust you. But if you want the privilege of increasing your numbers/icons, you may look but don't touch. Remember - I don't trust you." I only have a small collection, but I bought some extras to travel. So far I have been lucky them. If/when they go missing, I'm not going to get angry, but rather I'll reflect on where they've been and what enjoyment they might have brought to somone else. I'd rather release a coin and have it go MIA than log a coin copy.
