  1. I did a search and came up empty so....

I would like to see my friends finds shown on the Google map, similar to how I can view PQs or My Finds on the map. It would make it much easier to plan caches to visit together.

  2. There is a cache near here that I do not own but maintain on behalf of the owner who lives FAR away. It is placed in a guardrail and seems to slowly wander further down the rail, after a month or two people start posting that it is ...Feet from coordinates and I go back to fix it. I think that they keep putting it back 1 support to the left.

  3. Is there any simple reason why all caches shown in the latest Google Earth (5.0.11337.1968) are now yellow pushpins instead of the usual cache icons, except when hovered over?

I use GE to plan where I want to search, but it is nice to be able to see what the cache type is without having to "mouse around the page"!!

Why do things get "improved" and then cause gazillions of issues?? (ok,only one so far, but you know what I mean!)

There are already several open topics about this but basically to fix it:

Right click on the "Geocaching Network KML" in places tab

    Click on "Properties"

UN-Check "Allow this folder to be expanded"

    That should fix it

  4. Hi all,

Being new to this whole geocaching business, I am hoping to write an article for a class assignment as well as a magazine campus newspaper to explain just exactly what geocaching is all about.

Would anyone be willing to take the time to answer some questions?

Please try to elaborate in detail if possible and if you have any thing else that you may like to add, please feel free to do so.

    Thanks,

    hodge757

  5. on the left side of geocaching page click "trackables" enter the tracking code and it will bring up the items description/mission page, you can then log that you grabbed it and it will appear in your inventory.

  6. Good call.. thx for the tip

Thank you. I can now look at your bug without that little bit of worry. Silly but true.

You also have to watch out for the goofy brother who memorized your vehicle travel bug and steals your truck every once and a while and hides it in some far off cache.

  7. So which is the correct spot.. the green box or the yellow pin? Google says the yellow pin is correct. I've never had a google map off that far except overseas.

The yellow push pin is the actual location, entering the coordinates manually gets you very close but the automatic ones do not come even close.

  8. We have a bison tube hidden on a fence behind a Home Depot.

The latest log said the manager came out and said the cache was causing too many people to go behind his store and he didn’t like it. Since we placed it on November 2, 08 it has 28 logs or about 7 – 8 visits per month. Should I address this with the managment or just ignore it?

If it is on private property and the store manager has expressed concern and seems to want it gone, then unfortunately I think you should honor his feelings.
