  1. We've been doing some sprucing up of the site (the holiday season is approaching and we've got to look our best!). You are now able to sort the coins in your Trading List by Status to see only the type you're interested in (Seeking, Availale, etc.), and we've added a new "Do Not Disturb" feature - so much trading has been going on that some people wanted a way to turn off the incoming emails while they vacationed - it's now possible to turn off your incoming email. It doesn't affect your ability to send or to receive Group Emails from the Managers of Coin Editions in which you have a coin listed. We're also putting together a few more features which we'll unveil over the next few weeks. Happy Trading! --Marc November 7, 2005 @ 12:57 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  2. Make sure your envelopes and packing are up to snuff. I had some trouble with torn envelopes if the coins are able to move around at all inside, even though I used good mailers (as you recall). I am sometimes amazed at the flimsy envelopes that have arrived in my mailbox with loose coins inside - Not that you'd do that, but just mentioning how much centrifugal force must be in store for mailed packages in our USPS was my purpose. --Marc November 1, 2005 @ 5:12 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  3. I guess I'll be the first to inquire if there is any info on the status of these coins. Thanks! --Marc November 1, 2005 @ 12:57 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  4. Last month a SilverMarc coin sold for $24 on eBay, last week one sold for just $10 or so. I think that's a good sign - perhaps the novelty of pricey geocoins on eBay will wear off and we can just start trading them like the hunks of metal they are. Artistic, yes, but hundreds of dollars each... who needs it! --Marc November 1, 2005 @ 12:51 AM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  5. His action serves no purpose. If he hasn't paid for a Trading List, he'll have only the coins in his list that he's already listed in the existant Coin Editions, and everyone can see his posts in those lists (and contact him) anyway! It's not "pay to be reachable" - anyone can be emailed with the free registration. He still cannot list any coins other than those already in Coin Editions. That's what adds the value to the paid Trading List - you can list all of your coins, whether in a Coin Edition or not. Makes no sense to me! --Marc November 1, 2005 @ 12:17 AM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  6. I wanted to have a "full rack" before I committed it to a photo. I just won a second eBay walnut display case like this one for 5 additional "unracked" coins... and a few more on the way! --Marc October 31, 2005 @ 4:45 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  7. Any updates on this? Not yet. 2005 Washington Coin activation? Any Updates/Reasons/Apologies? Just curious, thanks, since it's been another month or so now since we asked. --Marc October 30, 2005 @ 9:11 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  8. Request for invoice sent. --Marc October 30, 2005 @ 4:18 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  9. What firewall are you using? We would like to get to the bottom of every issue so we can have solutions for people moving forward. See if you can log onto our discussions and we can continue it there if you'd like (there's an "open discussion" area): Discussion Area --Marc October 30, 2005 @ 4:11 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  10. I'd be interested in the Delaware coin. I have an Alaska and other coins available. Here is the link to My Trading List --Marc October 30, 2005 @ 4:02 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  11. If your browser isn't "accepting" cookies, you'll have the results you describe. Try a different browser if you cannot set yours to accept cookies. We get 10 to 15 new completed sign-ups a day, so the programming seems to be working, but we do get reports of the issue you mention too, from time to time, so we believe it's a local browser issue on the user's side. --Marc October 30, 2005 @ 3:50 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  12. Check my signature for a great hosting place (it's not free, but it's low price with lots of free features built in). XYZservers.com/hosting --Marc October 27, 2005 @ 7:49 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  13. Every Thursday evening (tonight!) @ 10:00pm (eastern) there is a "Coin Mint and Coin Making Chat" that's open to the public: Click Here for the Chat It's scheduled so that whether you're on the East or West Coast you can still watch Survivor! (Midwest, I guess you'll have to "TiVo")! --Marc October 27, 2005 @ 6:55 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  14. We worked up an improved beta version of our site-wide Coin Search. A suggestion to add checkboxes to focus in on a particular coin status was implemented, and Willie did a few magical waves of his coding wand and now when you click a coin in the Search Result screen it "pops" that coin to the top of the result list! More to come, don't touch that dial! --Marc October 26, 2005 @ 10:28 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  15. One of each (Ladycacher and Boys of Ladycacher) arrived and are already in their place on the display! And I have one extra of each for Future Trades! Nice coins! Thanks for making them! --Marc October 26, 2005 @ 10:16 AM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  16. A quick mention of our newest new web site features: We're now sending out an automatic Email Alert whenever a new Coin Edition or Trading List is created online. Stay a step ahead of the pack if you want to catch the newest coins for trade! Anyone can sign up for the Email Alerts: New Coin Alerts We're also trying out two interactive features, a Discussion Area and Public Chat Rooms: Discussions and Chats Happy Trading! --Marc October 26, 2005 @ 9:26 AM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'

  18. I think this report of a theft of a geocoin shows that the guy this fellow tried to deal with is dispicable, but I'd like to dig deeper into the more sinister message. Has anyone actually been victimized by a "fake" geocoin? Do you know of fake Moun10Bike coins (or others) out there? That's where the artificial market value (I'd call it the "eBay Value") of a coin will make a difference - lowballs will create junky fakes of hard-to-find coins. 19. For what it's worth, the ones I have don't say coins and pins on them at all. (I think that was added for people stealing their images). Thanks for the note. That their company logo isn't part of the coin is nice to know - but they should remove it from the picture though, since it turned off at least one buyer (me) until I found out otherwise from another source (you). I also have a problem with it being called a "geocoin" right on the coin. Why not just "Compass Rose" ? They're trying to play up its value, in my opinion, but that isn't necessary. Anyway, aside from the fact that there will likely be 1000s of them out there over time, I'll buy one for the display rack! --Marc October 22, 2005 @ 10:58 AM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  20. Yep, it's the first geocoin I saw in person. I guess it's not so hard to find, there seem to be a lot of them out there, I just don't have one yet. --Marc October 22, 2005 @ 10:24 AM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  21. I'll pass. The CoinsAndPins "ad" and the overdone reference that it's a "Geocoin" in the design is a turnoff to me. At least the names on personal geocoins are geocachers. --Marc October 22, 2005 @ 10:11 AM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  22. Well, I'm still looking to trade it for another 1.25" coin like Avroair's or another similar size item. --Marc October 22, 2005 @ 10:04 AM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  23. Is that a geocoin? I answered this question at another place also, so in thinking about it, I ask the question, "Is it not 'a geocoin' (or is it?)" I'm not trying to do any tricky dealing... I found it in a cache, does that make it a geocoin? I found it in Central Park shortly before the "In a Rutt? Try the Hutt!" Geocoin Trading Event a few weeks ago. (Waypoint GCQH6H). It's been on my display rack since then. I brought it to the event, but I arrived late and had just enough time to leave with Avroair on his "Decommission Mission" and I never managed to ask anyone about it. Here's a scan of the back too. It doesn't have any reference to geocoins, (or mints), but it was cache stashed! (BTW, I have an Alaska Coin that was a sample from the Alaska Mint, and it has the full mint info on the back. This one does not reference a mint, and doesn't look like the Alaska Mint coin.) I will look back over the cache logs and see if anyone visited from Alaska and see if I can get any info on it, but regardless of whether it's "a geocoin" or not, it's a nice, hefty, solid shiny silver coin with a reeded edge and looks nice in my display, and probably will in yours too. I wanted to trade it for an Avroair since they're both of equal sizes (and of all the coins I've collected, that was the first one I saw, and that got me interested enough to mint my own!) I ought to have one already! It's In My List --Marc October 22, 2005 @ 12:33 AM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  24. I would like to score one of those Avroair coins (the smaller ones). I have an "Alaska Last Frontier" coin to offer in trade. My Coins Are Here --Marc October 21, 2005 @ 3:39 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
  25. I have one last Alaska coin to trade for your Compass Rose... Here is my coin list: http://cointracking.com/public/SilverMarc Let me know! --Marc October 21, 2005 @ 3:36 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
