  1. I've looked over the entries on caches I maintain and see dozens of duplicate "Found" entries by the same users. Some are identical, perhaps hitting a button on the Geocaching App twice (or even thrice!), some are similar but a day or so apart.

It would be a TERRIFIC feature for the CO to be able to sort for "Duplicate Found Entries" by the same users in one cache's list to make removing each duplicate easier. My caches have over 3000 listings each.

    Thanks for considering!

  2. I was able to use RedShoesGirl access info to log in as her, and everything was working a-ok.

I emailed her to ask if she made sure her browser had "cookies" turned on - the login requires cookies.

I have also been working on revamping the Help Files and a couple of other issues that broke on the new server after a somewhat minor update.

I am almost finished those fixes too.

Thanks for letting me know via email about the problems - I don't follow all of the threads here as often as I'd like due to work, but once I know something is amiss I get to it as fast as possible.

  3. I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if you had the following coins still available:

Vintage Air Power P-51 Mustang Antique Gold

Vintage Air Power F-16 Falcon Shiny Gold

    Colorado Benchmark Micro Antique Copper

Also, would you happen to have: a New York and/or Pennsylvania Coin, any other Colorado coins...

    Am looking for:

    Johnnie Lacey 2005

    Groundspeak Project (square metal)

    GD Mystery Coin

  4. Yes, exactly that. When you click that button, a little pop-up window will appear. Make sure your GPS is plugged into your computer and the power is on. If you have more than one device connected to your computer (say, an iPod as well), you may have to select your GPS from a pull-down menu on the little pop-up window. Once your GPS is selected, click "write."

Yes, as easy as pie, as they say. That's a big help and it's the complete solution - usually it's the obvious that's so hard to discover.

Related issue: I have attempted to install the Garmin Communicator Plug In several times - It works in Firefox, and I have uploaded the caches to my Garmin. But I cannot get the plug-in to work with Safari. It shows in Safari's installed plug-ins list as being there, but the pop-up screen shows "Garmin Communicator Plugin NOT detected."

I suspect I simply have to wait for an upgrade for use with Safari 4, but if anyone has a fix for this I'd be glad to know of it.

Thanks for the details in the previous posts too, I appreciate the help, and I'm back "on track" now!

  5. Searched and searched the forums (just like I search for geocaches!), but need help with the following:

I have a Garmin eTrex LegendC, and updated the software.

Installed Garmin Communicator. In Firefox (on the Mac) the test screen shows it's properly installed. But I don't quite "get" how it's supposed to work. Can't see anything different in Firefox that gives me any clue at all as to what the install accomplished.

Essentially, what I would like to do is upload the data from the geocaching.loc file(s) to the Garmin. I used to do this with GPSBabel or MacSimpleGPS, but times have changed.

Can you recommend an app and a path of action that I can use to move the geocaching.loc file(s) to the Garmin and I'll give it a try.

    Remember, I'm on a Mac (that's not a pc...)

    Thanks!

I have a Proto-Picnic Geocoin (2007 in black nickel) available for trade.

Here's the link to my list: SilverMarc's Coin List.

It's a souvenir for the Proto-Picnic Geocaching Event (Waypoint GC13FKG) which takes place on Saturday August 25th.

If you're near enough to New York City - come in for the event and find some Central Park geocaches!

    Geocaching the Top 40s

  8. Each week the Groundspeak Weekly Notification arrives by email, but because there is no "space" after each new cache's URL, the link connects with the mileage on the next line. Clicking the link fails unless I manually delete the last few characters which are usually something like "98.9mi"

This is what the incorrect links look like in the email I receive:

    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=b17bc98b-b32b-48a2-87cc-f1a4deb40045

    98.9mi

If you could program in a simple "space" character after each URL I believe this wouldn't happen.

    Thanks, and happy caching!

  9. new owner of a 60csx.I have to say..if you dont know the basics...it sucks. In one week $650+ on gps and accessories, became premium member, bought GSAK,Bought cachemate, 20hrs of reading all and I mean all websites, forums, post, and personal web blogs. Iam hooked on this.We did are first cache....kids got lucky. Now I spend all my free time trying to get a hold on all this tech to get out and be productive. One big comment.WE/Groundspeak/geocache could use more help for new members.

There sure are alot of code words in this game. If it wasnt for the kids turning me on to Harry potter reference I dont think i would have ever got the "muggle" any way...I will become a lifer for sure.

  11. I shut off my Garmin Legend and stash it in my pocket regularly. Once when I grabbed it, there was an unusual screen showing - It had what seemed to be satellite info, frequencies, and other interesting info. Using the "page" button took me to additional screens that I've never seen before, and can't seem to access via the regular menus.

Then, to make sure I wasn't dreaming, it again happened a few days later, and I tried more diligently to figure it out. The only way to leave these pages is to shut off the GPS.

Anyone know how to access these pages on purpose? I don't have my docs handy - perhaps it's there, but I cannot get to the printed info if it exists.

    Thanks.

  12. As I am waiting for another coin I know things seem to be bogged down right now. Any more word other than "next week"?

Please email me with the details and I'll look into it.

    Thanks!

  13. The contents of 3 big boxes of Manhattan Urban Cachers coin sets have begun making their way around the world via the USPS!

Just a note that all the coins have been shipped to US and most overseas addresses!

    Enjoy, and Happy Trading!

The mint reports I will receive the shipment on March 31st. These are the photos from the approved sample run the mint provided. I haven't seen an actual coin yet either.

  16. One of those really good days...

  17. The Decon containers were $1.25 each at Rangersurplus.com, but last time I ordered, they were out of them.<BR><BR>"It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues" - Abraham Lincoln

For historical purposes... I just purchased 2 Decon Cannisters from RangerSurplus today for $3.49 each.

A higher price then in 2002, but in a half hour of internet searching this was the only place that had any.

If anyone knows other places, I'd still be interested in knowing about them.

    Cache on!

  18. Any updates on shipping of this series?

    Thanks

The mint will be emailing photos of the sample coins from the re-done dies on March 11th (there were some errors between the artwork and the samples which are being corrected.)

I expect the new samples to be perfect, I expect to okay the production run, and I expect to receive the coins as soon as the mint finishes them and ships them to me. Then I will ship them out to everyone the next day!

I'm looking forward to them also, and it's been longer then I wanted but the mint (CoinsAndPins.com) has worked with me every step of the way to get these just the way I want them. I'm the stickler here, for the record, but I don't want anyone to be unhappy with the coins they'll receive.

    Happy Trading!
