  1. I bought a Forerunner 50 with Heart Rate Chest Monitor from Amazon cheaper than buying the chest monitor on its own. It displays the heart rate on my Oregon but doesn't log it. However the watch does and can be transferred to PC.
  2. Make sure your battery selector in "setup" is set for NIMH instead of alkaline. Also if these are brand new rechargeables they won't reach their full capacity until after a few charge/discharge cycles. Most people are finding that in v2.85 the battery meter has seen a vast improvment on accuracy. As far as battery life you should see anywhere from 10-16 hours depending on your usage of the compass, backlight, waas, etc. Also the temperature was below 0 Celsius and I recently read that NiMh don't like the cold.
  3. This picture on Amazon shows an OPTIONS & SHORTCUTS button at the top of the screen! Mine doesn't.
  4. Today I used Energizer 2650mAh rechargeable batteries in my Oregon for the first time. The unit shut down after approx 5 hours saying the batteries were low. I guess the batteries are not low but the gauge is wrong. Is this the fault the 2.85 update addresses?
  5. Does anyone else find it a bit quiet when reaching a route point? p.s. I tried the alarm for the first time as suggested, I see what you mean.
  6. I would like the compass to display degrees but it will only show directional letters. SETUP>HEADING>DISPLAY Directional Letters, Numerical Degrees, Mils. However no matter which I select I get Directional Letters. Am I misunderstanding something?
  7. Can the Garmin Discoverer SD card maps be transferred and viewed on a computer. I currently have Garmin TOPO GB maps loaded on my computer but can remember reading "Maps on microSD/SD cards cannot be copied or viewed on a computer."
