How intriguing - wonder why they contacted someone on the other side of the pond?
-
You can try GSAK out for free before paying for it.
-
yeh I just discoverd that earlier - must try it out to see how it works. To the OP: If you mainly go cacheing in the summer and think the $30 is too much, premium membership is avalible for $10 for 3 months. IMHO I would dgo for that as it is not teribly expensive on the baises that you can try it out and see what benifit you would get from the upgrade. If you decide the upgrade isn't woth the extra then you don't have to go for it again and you still have the 200 caches + whatever else you have downloaded in that time. If you do like it then you can just upgrade for the 3 months each year you wish to. But the choice is yours.
-
Yes if you are a premium member($30yr) then you can use pocket queries allowing you to download up 500? caches a time based on size/ type or within a certain radius of a chosen point amogst others. Most pepole I think agree that it is well worth it. Edited for messed up linky.

Have a look at this post in the FAQ for the info.

I have been following your posts, but havn't replied because some of the posts in those threds threds IMHP could have done with a good spray of water to put the flames out. You are a new cacher as I am still who needs the assistaence and guidence of others when asked for as all of us do when we sart. Thanks for your note, although, from my perspective, it was not really necessary. And, from my perspective, while I certainly felt annoyed by some of your behaviors, I did not dislike you personally, and I understood that I was reacting simply to some of your behaviors. I suspect that what I just wrote about my own reaction to your posting behavior is likely true for many other folks on this forum as well. So, I doubt that anyone here hates you! I wish you the best with all of your activities and projects, and with your life! . I ceartnaly did not feel annoyed, just felt like I or someone more experienced needed to help Crab Soul as he requested. A lot of pepole, here being no exeption I should imagin have health social/ learning/ mental health or some difficultys/ issues that can't prehaps be seen when in personel contact with them let alone on a internet fourm. Speaking as regards to myself I would also hope that pepole who don't know me would if I did or said something that might seem offish or I behaved in a way that was diffrent would prehaps stop to think that I might by design have difficulty in communicting sometimes. I would also hope that is one of the things that GSP had in mind when the guidlines were wrriten. I will leave by saying that unfortunatly this seems somewhat tame compared to a ceartain local fourm, but it is by no means the rule here, otherwise I would have given up posting and trying to help pepole - isn't that one of the main reaons for these fourms?
-
No it's not just you this seems to be a frequent problem with me. For example at around 23:00 - 00:00 ish GMT yesterday/ today I couldnt even get in to the fourms let alone the UK ones for about an hour due to 45 sec time outs and the data base has reported an error 'too many conections' stuff. I have mentiond this before (threds here and here) Iit is realy iirritating, so I asume TPTB are aware but unfortunatly I have yet to find out what if anything is being done to correct this. It has been happerning to me since I joined in November and seems to have gotten worse in the last few days. But I expect that if enougth pepole who are experinanceing(?) this mention, it in this fourm then we might have some indication as to when this might be fixed. Question to GSP: how and when might this be fixed? (if you would be so kind) Edit for GSP info if rquired: Running; IE7 Vista x64 16mbs broadband reporting as 15125kbs

Whilst I agree with mtn-man in principle I have spoken to Garmin today about not being able to lock on to EGNOS (which is aperantly nornal as the system is only being tested) and the inaccrucy of my Oregon 300 and the person I spoke to said it was the first time he had heard of this and informed me that the Oregon ws a very good unit and rather bug free compared to what would normaly be expected. 1. is the Colorado the standard of normal? 2. I phoned tech support not sales- I allready have 2 Garmin units for myself, maybee I'm supposed to buy more. In other words yes the words of the humble consumer help but not as much as the orgonisations who require a GPS as part of their activitys and atualy work with Garmin to increase the abbility of their products to preform for the orginisation, thus increasing sales for all and increased participation with the afore said orginisation. Just how it seems to work to me in my fairy limited experiance in life. Edits

Don't worry I've worked it out now. Sorry to trouble you

I have just uploaded 21 logs from my Oregon 300 to the site, they have been accepted and uploaded accordingly but I have not gotten any simlies or logs on the cache pages, no finds or DNF's This is not a feature I envisige useing much and only have to try it out and because I am to tired to log them individualy at the moment and intend to elaberate on them tommorow. What am I doing wrong?

You need to mark a waypoint and then edit it and change the co-ords to where you would like them to be. If we knew what your unit was someone might be able to give step by step instuctions (Sorry just read the title again doh) but if you look in the manual for how to set/ mark a waypont the it should show up as a blue flag if it's a Garmin. Edit: See this pinned FAQ

Have a look at this FAQ.

There is a theory that compinies sometimes design there products to breakdown just after the warrenty runs out. But then I do belive that the British goverment is remote controled from Washington DC.

Fine - sounds close enougth to me.

For anyone who is intrested htere is a good guide to rights of way law on the ramblers site. There is also a good guide from Natural England. But essentaly from what I know (not much) then if the path is not on the 'definitive map' held by the local athority then there unlikly to be a right of way although there are exeptions, as apparently not all RoW are on the maps. After 2010 I think it is when a new law comes in all RoW not on the 'Difinitive Map's' will cease to be RoW.

When you are at home (or just outside if like me you can't get a signal inside) mark a waypoint to your current location (see manual if not sure how to or here) and the logitude and latitude of that waypoint are you home co-ordanets. Go to 'update home co-ordanites' on the right hand side of your profile and enter them in to the text box. I think there might be something in the FAQ in one of the pinned threds at the top of this fourm. I just tried having a look but he server is playing up again and won't let me in to the fourm again. Edit: ok I was wrong I can't find anything in the FAQ's but there a usefull read anyway

Is it just me, or has the forum shrunk?

Glad I'm not the only one to get confused by that, wnadering if this is new or just us? -
Untill someone comes along with some tech knowlege have a look at this usefull site. I'm of to hit the hay - Oh gosh it's 04:30 I must learn how to turn of the computer

I'm assuming you are atualy where it says home on that shot. I can't even get a signal at home not even with my vista HCX. When I come home after a days caching and leave it one until it compleatly losess siganl it jumps all over town - it can be streets away in fact. Best way (I think) to check how muchthe signal is jumping and not maching up the track logs isto do a walk for instance along a road )to give you a point of refrence) and then go up (or down) the same strech later in the day.

I did think about that but someone has been and taken a coin out and logged it out but they havn't logged the cache as a find and their not new to this either by their finds. Not worried just a bit odd - although they all wouldn't be on there own.

Sorry for another how to log a TB/ Geocoin type thred but I'm slightly confused. I found this coin (TB2G7FA) in this cache (GC1BKWR) but it wasn't listed and in fact was dropped into a cache in Italy about 6 weeks ago. So I grabbed it diped it in and out of the cach I found it in. Whats doing me is that I thought it was this coin that was dropped only 2 days before but not in the cache even though it is listed as such. The pepole who dropped it in also left a TB TBGZ6M that has been logged out by someone else but they havn't logged their visit to the cache. Maybe they logged the TB out but didn't know how to log the cache (not the useual way round I know) but that dosn't explain why they would log the TB but not either of the coins if it was this person - might not be. So I'm confused - if it was a simple case of finding a coin that wasn't logged in I could handle that, but this ones making my head hurt a bit. Anyone have any ideas? Edit: Didn't know wether to post this in the TB or geocoin section so I put it here - but then you know it's here - or do you?
