  1. I like the amount of data you can display on the different screens. Hadn't tried two different routes at once. Cool. -MIQ
  2. A great source of info on the iQ is here:iQ Forum My wife has an iQ and I have a 60CS. We like to use the iQ for routing to the cache but then switch to the 60 for the "off road" search. The iQ is killer as an in vehicle navigation unit. The lack of battery life and the fact that you have to be "careful" with it limit our use of it "off road". There is quite a bit of software for Palm devices, some of which take advantage of the iQ's GPS capabilities. Check out the link and search for more info there. -MIQ
  3. Here's a thread about the map size limit: PDA Street Forums The site this came from is the best for info on the iQ. -MIQ
  4. If there is a temp sensor in the unit why not make that info available for the user? It is true that to utilize the "temperature" display data box you need to have water temperature info fed to the unit. -MIQ
  5. Why not a Garmin iQue 3600? Has GPS built in. -MIQ
  6. You could do some reading here It is a forum dedicated to the iQue. This is a FAQ put together by members of the above forum that has a ton of good info. The iQue has limited battery life and is not super rugged or waterproof. I would have reservations about recommending it for serious hiking. For autorouting, lite hiking, and as a PDA it is great! You can still use the iQue with Mapsource but the transfer of waypoints is not as simple as with other Garmin units since the iQ uses the internal Palm address book to store waypoiints. The screen is fabulous and having the ability to store maps on SD cards it great. Also, there are a bunch of cool programs for Palm devices. Check it out. -MIQ
  7. Yes if you have an iQue 3600. There are a few threads about it here: pdastreetforum It is a little difficult to get it set up. But there has been some grassroots support for the iQue at NG. Other than the iQue, Garmin GPS only use Garmin Maps with one exception. You can also create your own maps (very time consuming process) using a program called Mapdekode. There are a few threads @ the link above about that process as well. -MIQ
  8. I thought of another feature I would like. It would be nice if you could store and be able to retrieve split times in the Stopwatch mode. -MIQ
  9. RockyRiver, It's not that easy but you can get the GPS derived elevation. From the Satellites page press Menu then scroll down to GPS Elevation and hit Enter. If you use MapSource to record a track for you (60CS connected to PC) it will record the GPS derived altitude and NOT the barometric altimeter info. -MIQ
  10. I did some experimentation tonight. The Tracks that are recorded to the CS internal memory and then transferred ("open from USB GPS") to MapSource use the altimeter for the altitude information (like 76S). If you record tracks on your PC from within MapSource, using the GPS tab, the GPS derived altitude is recorded. -MIQ
  11. I like the more Proximity Waypoints, louder/adjustable beeps, different beeps for left and right turns, and more altimeter functions ideas. There are way more Red Light Camera intersections where I live than 10, so more Proximity Waypoints would be nice. Also, the beeps do get lost if you have tunes on in the car. Does the altimeter data get transfered when you save a track in MapSource or does it use the satellite derived altitude? Also MapSource does not allow you to view the elevation info vs time or search by intersection, two things the CS does. Why not? -MIQ
  12. Got my CS a few weeks ago and have used it for hiking, biking, skiing, and auto-routing. Works great! The elevation profile info is pretty cool to check out but I haven't used the compass too often. Maybe if I start caching. There is a new firmware release available at the Garmin site. here Addresses some of the problems people are seeing. -MIQ
  13. Does anyone know if you can transfer the stored altimeter data from the 60CS to your computer similar to the tranfer of the positional data from a stored track log? I assume when you look at an elevation profile in MapSource, the elevation info comes from the GPS data and not the altimeter data. Is that correct? -MIQ
