  1. Howdy all, I am planning, possibly, to visit my parents next year. So to start doing some research I mosey on over to Expedia to check out some airfares. I type in that I want to go to Johannesburg and would you believe it Johannesburg comes up as a destination. Could have knocked me down with a feather.
  2. Vartan84, I figure an easy solution would be to buy a gun and take it Geocaching. That way if the situation occurred again you could pretend you were hunting and, if perhaps an errant round found its way in your direction, as an earlier poster suggested, why, you could respond with an errant round of your own . If anyone asked why you were hunting you could proclaim that you were Geocaching and the gun was just for protection. See that way you got all the angles covered.
  3. Check out ebay they have a few right now. Be quick cos I am looking for a new one or two
  4. An iPhone is the only protection you need from bears
  5. Briansnat and Starbrand, while what you say may be true, I have also seen cases where people have made a path to a cache that has never recovered and to this day, two years later, is still visible. No it was not animals or seasonal variations it was cachers. The rangers have since removed the cache due to the damage done to the rocks and fragile flora. Not every one lives in areas that get rain. I live in an area that gets an average of 286mm rain per year, a few years ago we had none for the whole year. No amount of denial on your part is going to help the vegetation recover when there is no rain. Incidently we also had 4 farmers a month on average commit suicide because they could see no way out of the drought.
  6. However, I am quite certain that you will when Geocaching becomes banned/prohibited in an area because of those exact few bent blades, as has happened in other places
  7. I am assuming that this means that you have extensive knowledge of every situation worldwide. It only takes one instance to get caching banned, no matter how far in the sand you stick your head
  8. There used to be a site for this. You actually got paid around $10 for each one you returned. For the life of me I cannot remember the address. Basically the it stopped due to lack of funds. I don't believe that it was NOAA, I think it was a private company somewhere in Texas that provided remote communications. HEY, now I remember Skysite
  9. I use a LED Lenser. I cost around AUD125.00. I have the P14. It uses 4 AA batteries and has 180lm. I have tried many others but these things are awesome. For you American fellas here is the U.S site Led Lenser
  10. Dadgum you beat me to it. And why do you supose that they passed that law (not only in SC but in other countries as well) South Carolina seceded again? I believe they are still annoyed about the last time ...
  11. Some of you guys seriously need to slow down and think about it a bit...WOW! What he said. All this fuss about a dead guy, do you honestly believe he cares one way or another. Now before the flames come out, I spent time in the army, got shot more times that I care to remember, lost more friends than I care to remember, got my fair share of revenge. Difference is we had 2 choices 1) go to army 2) go to jail for 2 years then go to army I did not like it nor would I recommend it to any one else. I could rant on for pages but won't
  12. Yeah but the OP is talking about a cache site with a cache nearby. How easy we try to proclaim our innocence. There certain caches I will not look for cos I think that I will cause too much disruption to the surrounding enviroment.
  13. Dadgum you beat me to it. And why do you supose that they passed that law (not only in SC but in other countries as well) (edited to say that I am amazed that the forum software changed my word to dadgum)
  14. Yeah, but it is just me. I'll probably let them stand.
  15. I wouldn't do it, EXCEPT, I have recently adopted some caches that I had previously found. So I am now considering deleting my logs...

  21. Get gpsbabel from gpsbabel.org (don't forget to donate). Download the track to your computer, convert it to a gpx/kml/kmz, open it with google earth.
  22. Hi all just a note, and I know I have mentioned it before but, If you ever find one of these it is not a sig card as such. Post it back to me and I'll gift you a membership. There are 3 out there. I am looking for some one in the U.S. who will place 1 or 2 for me, so let me know via PM. Initially near the Seattle area but later on to move around the country. It would be cool to get it into every state including Alaska and Hawaii. thanks
  23. Sorry folks. I meant no insults except to the OP. You other folk are just wierd. Nice, but wierd, definitely not trolls, but still wierd
