  1. While I like theme caches they seem to degrade over time. I see nothing wrong with logging the cache with only a TNLNSL. It lets everybody hunt and does not degrade the cache. Doc
  2. Personally it doesn't bother me at all. I have never been a FTFer and if people get off on that then let them go. It doesn't bother me at all! Doc
  3. Not a long hike!!! 9 miles might just kill me! Hike away Thrak!
  4. My wife and I hace distinctly different tastes. Yesterday, we were driving through beautiful countryside and was of course looking for caches. I found some interesting ones but got several " it's too hot, I'm not dressed right, I have on flip-flops". She difinitely were rather cache in town. I prefer to go to places I have never seen or been and find beautiful scenery. My question is, Are you a city cacher or country cacher. ( I know everyone does some of both). Doc
  5. I am way away from those sites. I use mine mostly in Ky and Indiana.
  6. I have had my Magellan Sportrac for about 3 years and have never had a problem. Lately it will act like it is not getting a signal or misread my coordinates by miles. Yesterday, I was within 200ft of a cache and all of a sudden it started reading it as 9 miles away. Anyone know what gives with this? Is the unit playing out. Most of the time it is fairly accurate but it sure has been screwing up over the last couple of weeks. Thanks
  7. I sometimes like micros if they get me out on a trail or someplace interesting. I am placing a micro this weekend. I chose a micro because it is in a flood prone area and I need to get it up high. A micro is easier to hide in this situation. I chose an area rich in history and geography (written up in National Geographic) so you can get something out of going there. Doc
  8. DH is for dear husband, or on some days dadgum husband!!
  9. I'm glad I made a good choice. Thanks for the replies! I'm not sure who will be more excited him or me...
  10. I ordered him (its for me too) a Magellan SporTrak GPS a few days ago. Is this a good model for hunting, caching etc...?
  11. After my dh introduced me to this web site, I could not wait to get out there and find a cache!! Lucky for me, we live about .5 of a mile from the Officers Club cache. I found it this afternoon with no problem. I don't have a GPS unit yet, but will get one soon. This is a great game!
