  1. If you want your TB to travel with a pal, why don't you give it a mission to carry other TB's? Let Tootles have a mission to visit specific places (every state, national park, etc) and have him/her offer to give another TB a ride. Would that work for you and Tootles?
  2. Larry and BlueDeuce, thanks for the info! My main concern was that a vehicle bug could be considered a traveler, I guessed it was so because it does have a tracking number. But again, I want to stay with the proper etiquette. I have tried to recalculate the mileage on the bug but it isn't working. I will do some more dipping and see if that helps. Thanks again for the help!
  3. I am new at the TB thing so this may be a worn-out question but I can't see it posted anywhere else. I purchased a vehicle TB and have dipped it twice. The first dip was in a cache I visited (logged as found) and the mileage didn't show up. So I thought maybe it was due to the bug not having a starting place. So I went to one of my kid's caches (nearest to my home cords) and dipped it there. Still no mileage. I realize there are issues going on right now with the system so I am not clear on a couple of things. So this is what I need to know: Is it ok to dip a vehicle bug, one that will never stay in a cache? (I have the dogtag on my cache bag so it actually makes a physical visit to the caches) How do I manually log miles? I only plan on keeping one personal bug for now so I don't mind plugging in the miles myself. And last but not least, can I go back and dip the bug in caches I visited a while back but are a distance from my home cords? If I just add a note instead of another find, is that ok to do? I just want to keep with proper etiquette. I have had the TB for a while but I've never been sure if I could dip a vehicle bug or not. Thanks in advance to anyone who provides info. I plan to travel from OH to NC this summer and I want to move several TB's during my trip . But I also want to keep track of my own miles and I want to know the right way to do it.
  4. I used a similar pack but have switched to a new style. Check out the Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack. Sorry, I'm having trouble pasting the website. I also like the low center of gravity because I have a lot of low back pain so the lumbar pack worked well for me. But I've started to carry a pistol when I cache and needed a different bag. The Versipack is awesome. Our SWAT team uses them and no one has a bad word to say about them. Most of the places sell them around $90.00 but I found mine on Amazon for less than $70.00.
  5. I plan to place a cache behind the firehouse where I work. I am going to add a TB that will be a fire truck with a mission to reach a specific cache in Calif. Once it gets there, is it possible to change it's mission to head to another firehouse cache? Or do I have to load all the information in the description when I register it? My hopes are to have it go coast-to-coast then return to me. I know it may take a while but it sure sounds like a fun trip. (I wish I could go with it!)
  6. Do you live near an international airport? If so, is there a TB hotel or dump near the airport? That may be a good way to get it out of the country.
  7. I have encountered a lot of muggles in my short time of caching and usually just tell them what I'm doing. People who take their dogs to the parks on a regular basis are used to seeing cachers. But I can't wait until I have a kid muggle. I'm going to tell him/her that I saw a rainbow end at that very spot and I'm looking for the pot of gold!
  8. Just to clarify, the bug will only be on one vehicle at a time. I will probably keep it on my truck unless we decide to take the motorcycle or car out on an adventure then we'll move it that day. It will be no different than if we take the truck everywhere. I'd just as soon have the bug moving than sitting in our driveway if we use a different ride.
  9. I'm just getting started in Geocaching and have an "etiquette" question about a vehicle bug. As Team K&L we have a car, truck and motorcycle. When we go places other than work, we take whatever vehicle fills the need for the trip. Is it unfair to get one magnetic bug and just move it to the "vehicle of the day"? Yes, we could purchase three of them but we think we would enjoy knowing our bug was spotted while we were out and about vs. just sitting at work. I (K) will have a cache at my place of employment soon but there are some near L's work place. We are enjoying this so far and even got our son-in-law (combatmedic1) hooked on it last weekend! We don't want to "cheat" so I thought I'd get on here and ask for some advice! Thanks!
  10. I have only been out a few times and my Legend has been nearly pin-point with the compass. However, yesterday, I was off by 30', 13', and 9'. The last one I did was pin-point. The only difference I had was the first three were in a park, the last one a parking lot. Trees or topo making a difference? Not sure. I did learn that my granddaughter has a knack for spotting the caches! I'd be looking around and she'd take off towards a tree, squealing in delight. So with her and the GPS, I'm all set!

We have some beautiful places to seek for caches around our county. Miles & miles of bike trails, river areas, parks, etc. so if you've never been here, what are you waiting for?

Warren County reporting! There are 7 city employees from Lebanon on here, (maybe more) I'll try to get the rest of them to check in. (2 fire dept, 3 police dept. and 2 electric dept)
