  1. I have Cetus and Cachemate on my Visor right now, however I'm unable to use Cetus until I get an interface cable. (I know where to go, I just have a lack of funds) Will I probably want to be switching to Cachenav instead? (Also, I haven't paid for Cachemate yet... seems I need a HotSync name and I manager to sync without creating one... oh, the trials of Linux! )
  2. Man... I already made plans to go to the Exploratorium with the kids tomorrow... Oh, well. I'll have to hit this one on Sunday.
  3. I am going to be using mine for APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System) as soon as I'm able to get an interface cable to go between my GPS and my TinyTrak.
  4. One of the biggest limitations I've noticed so far of my GPS (A Magellan 310) is that the waypoints only allow four characters, so I need to be more clever with my naming.
  5. Let's see... that's Palm Sunday.. and the only Sunday I'm not super-busy in April. I should be able to attend.
  6. I doubt that it will ever be "finished'. GSAK, like lots of software, is constantly being updated with improvements, enhancements and bug fixes. Clyde is getting ready for another major release, based on what I've seen... but I'm betting that the work for him won't end there.... (although he may want it to... )
  7. Hm. That's a good start, but I don't see GSAK nor Cachemate included on that page. Are the products on this page ones that were developed by people at Geocache.com, and no others are allowed to be included?
  8. I will make the usual apologies about not finding this anywhere in the forums, but I was wondering if there was a central page for the different varieties of geocaching software available. I know about spinner, gsak, cachmate, etc. from reading the other thread, but I was wondering what else might be available. It might be helpful to have a page with links on the Geocaching.com website for the different platforms (PC, Linux, Mac, Palm, PPC, Psion, etc). Thanks!
  9. I'm still waiting for Tetris and Freecell. Also, there's a cache out there with a Cribbage hand problem? Cool! (although it's probably nowhere near the SF Bay Area... Grumble...)
  10. Wow... really close by. No, he doesn't. I met him through a different interest. And to be quite technical, I don't geocache either (yet). I still need to get a GPS.
  11. Sextant, straight-edge and compass. (Although I'm pretty sure someone's already used this joke...)
  12. I have a friend who works for PalmSource (which is right up the road from where I work). Where's the conference?
  13. Careful, the new models like the 60C/60CS have games. Games are OK as long as the rest of the unit does what you want. My main question is why do they put games in them? Are they trying to compete with cell phones? (Which do everything but give you a nice clear signal to the person you're calling) For me, it just seems out of place to put games in a GPS. It's not like you'll be playing while you're hiking/driving/boating with it, since you'll most likely want to see where you are.

    Why PST??

I just put a hold on that book at my public library. Looking forward to reading it!
  15. Oooooooh! Julie Newmar!! I don't think I've seen this one!!
  16. I find I'm on here when I need to take a little break.
  17. I'm not a fan of the "I want one device to do everything" concept. That's why my cell phone doesn't have a camera, why my ham radio is used for talking, and why my GPS (when I get one) will not have games. I was really interested in the Garmin IQue when they first were talked about a year or so ago, but now I'm not so sure. If one thing breaks on those devices, do you have to throw the whole thing away?
  18. Is now a bad time to mention the Lowrance and the Cobra?
  19. I can see that a lot of you people haven't had the experience of Fry's.
  20. From the bottom of the page on the Meridian Gold:
  21. I also found some on REI's website. Sorry about the lack of link... there's not a general page for them. (Go fig)
  22. Funny... when ours decides to come out, it's yellow.
