  1. Will there be banjos involved? So the night of GWVI I told sillygirl we didn't have to do another mega-event for at least a decade, but now that I look at the map... How far is this event from Atlanta? (We used to live there.) And when we did I thought of Chattanooga as less than 2 hours, & Nashville as a 4-5 hour drive... So that would make Bell Buckle 3.5-4 hours from Hot-lanta, is that about right? Must start planning... jrr We live just north of Chattanooga and have about 300 active caches between just my wife and I in the area with plans on placing at least 250 or so more for GW7. We have also already been in touch with a bunch of our friends from our local club, www.getgc.org and they all want to get out and place caches so look for a BUNCh of new ones between Bell Buckle and Chattanooga.
  2. We have stayed at the Knights Inn Murfreesboro several times in the past and it's ok for the price, of course they are higher priced on the holidays and tend to get full pretty quick. They also have a pretty good wireless network for those needing that sort of thing. Decent clean rooms... It's also right across the street from the Cracker Barrel and a cache!
  3. We have a room booked in Manchester for the weekend. We are planning a little caching fun for the out of towners on the southeast side of the event area. We like to call it a ........ "Country Geocaching Run"
  4. These coins are not authorized by any clubs in Tennessee except for Billys club. Heck, "Billy's Club"(?) didn't even authorize these coins...Did it need to??? Oh yea, I was asked if I would offer any kind of a discount on maybe a 5 pack of the coins and I said why sure so here's the deal... If anyone wants 5 or more coins the cost goes down to $5.50 a coin. For the folks already on the list that reserved 5 or more coins, you will be billed the discount price. Thanks!
  5. We live a little less than a hour away from the site and got the word today that the nearest motels are already taking reservations and one or two are already booked up! Better make your reservations early. There are VERY few places to stay within 15 miles or so of the actual event site. The closest places to stay are around Murfreesboro to the northeast and Manchester/Tullahoma to the southeast. Shelbyville is about 20 or so miles to the west and has a few motels.....
  6. Just wanted to give a sneak peek at a upcoming geocoin..... The coins will be 31/32" x 31/32" and 2mm thick. Only 250 coins will be made. They will be trackable at gc.com with a unique new icon... Just a little more information on the geocoins... Pricing of the coins will be $6.00 per coin + $2.50 for S&H for up to 5 coins and then it goes up a bit. Shipping outside the US will be more depending on where. We are taking reservations for the coins and then as soon as they go into production we will start collecting the money... Anyone wanting to get their reservation in now will need to send a email to... 2008tnmicrocoin@gmail.com Please include the following information in your email... Caching Nickname Real Name Shipping address # of coins wanted Paypal Email address Remember, as of now we are going to do a run of 250 coins so if you want any it's best to get your reservation in quick.....
  7. If you go with the "Quality Coin" then be prepared to fork out the big bucks. I am speaking from experence for having our Puzzle Cache Geocoin made a couple of years ago...
  8. Ok, here is a little wonder we came across and just had to post the picture, I know...It's not a dog but we though she was kinda cute! She was just waking up from a KittyNap...
  9. Don't believe this person over this yellow jeep. If you look at their Ebay auctions they have a lackey coin up for auction right now and in the auction description they claim that they were married to one of the Groundspeak Lackeys is how they got that coin. It would figure that if they were married to a Lackey they would probably know all about the Yellow Jeeps... Just a observation from the shadows........
  10. THANK YOU - I played around with the site even more after I posted and was able to see it said my name as the owner. I tried to pick up/retrieve the Volcano one that's not where I said it was but I need the tracking # and that's at home so I'll have to "retrieve" it later and place it somewhere else. Thank you!!!! If you pull up the coins page the tracking number will be listed up in the right hand corner under where you would type it in....
  11. $3 a month gets you all the member only benefits and perks.... Good deal if you ask me!
  12. What??? Someone doing a Phone-a-Friend Geocoin??? Oh yea...we did that one a couple of years ago and yes we have the official name "Phone-A-Friend" geocoin on our coins and the icon to go with it.....Would that mean that we have some kind of recourse if they use our coin name, which we have had for over 2 years now??? Why the nerve of some people! Here's the picture for the record...

  14. I found one of these this weekend....it was in the middle of a handshake. Thanks!
  15. We did the 4-piece Puzzle Cache coin sets and worked with Groundspeak very closely during the whole process from start to finish.
  16. "ODS" type caches, "Seed" type Caches, "Pay it Forward" type caches. Just wanted to find out if these type of caches were still allowed and in what form, if they are allowed. If the placing of a new cache is only optional instead of a requirement are they still allowed? I have heard several different stories about the allowing of these type of caches and just wanted some clarification on exactlly what the policy/guideline is.... Thanks!
  17. Put a swingset together for the kids Christmas present?
  18. I like to put STF prizes in my caches to keep the FTF hounds at bay!
  19. Ok, I knew about the revision back in Feb. but has anything changed within the last month or two? And I was out caching but I didn't know I was out that long!
  20. Got word over the past few days from our state Reviewer that some changes to some of the placing guidelines have been made. Can anyone fill us in on this?
  21. To remove the "Needs Maintenence" Attribute, post a Maintenence Performed note to your cache, that should remove the "bad" attribute.
  22. I was the one that listed the earthcaches that AB4N is talking about. At the time I listed the 2 earthcaches near where he had 2 caches placed at waterfalls he had all but given up geocaching and devoted almost all of his caching efforts to terracaching. The two traditional caches had been out over a year and the earthcache program had been going for just as log or longer. The earthcaches I listed in no way compromised his caches what so ever so I saw no need in asking for his so called permission to list the earthcaches. Geoware approved the earthcaches without question so they must have met the guidelines. I see no problem in placing a earthcache on top of another existing cache especially when the earthcache does not compromise the existing cache in any way. Heck, our state reviewer even placed a traditional cache right on top of one of my earthcaches upon his visit which I thought was very cool, it just lets me know that my earthcache was placed in a great area, at a great earth feature! And for the numbers/icon folks out there it makes for a twofur! Some folks need to remember that this is only a game and we play for the fun of it and those who don't should find another hobby....
