  1. This topic probably has been hashed and re-hashed, but I'm relatively new to the sport, so I'm gonna say it anyway. I'm not old, and I'm not young. I'm one of the middle-aged geocachers who sometimes finds it very hard to traverse a mossy cliffside, or climb a tree, or scale a steep muddy embankment. Don't get me wrong, I love the sport, and love hunting in unusual places for caches....but sometimes I think some of these caches are hidden by US Navy Seals, or in the least a vengeful Gollum! Does anyone else find that some innocent looking caches, with a difficulty and terrain rating of 2, have you traversing slippery rocks and dancing on the edge of a precipice that would be out of the question for any cacher who has small children with them? Secondly, if someone is hiding a microcache in a heavily forested area, wouldn't a hint be in order since most GPSs lose accuracy in heavy tree cover? I don't mean to sound bitter or angry, I'm not, my wife and I are enjoying the sport immensely and are addicted to it, I just wanted to see how others feel about this.
  2. We have a Magellan Meridian, we bought the swivel mount for it that attaches to your dashboard, however not wanting to drill holes in our dash I bought one of those sticky pads they sell in Wal-Mart. It is a small black rubber-like pad that has an adhesive quality without the glue. I put that on our dash and set the swivel mount on top of it...works like a charm! It doesn't go anywhere as the car moves and it allows me to easily take the GPS off the dash when we get out of the car.
  3. The contest is only open to U.S. residents and such (see the official rules and regs). While I'd like to see one, I personally wouldn't return it to my home and native land. I like to think I'm not the only one who feels this way, but they would certainly make an interesting collectible after the close of the contest.
  4. New to the forum, so if this is the wrong place to ask this question, please feel free to correct me (gently!). I'd like to send a hitchhiker of a different sort along the way, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I tried purchasing some geocaching objects online, but being in Canada I wasn't permitted to buy certain objects. My husband collects hiking staff medallions for his walking stick, and I'm not able to buy one. Would it possible for someone in the U.S. to obtain one and send it along? I will gladly reimburse cost, postage, etc. Many thanks for any advice/help!! In response to welch: A 'hiking staff medallion' is available on the Groundspeak website to U.S. customers only.
