  1. I may be missing something here but I don't think the OP was complaining about the log. I think he liked it. On the other hand, I saw this log on a cache that's one of my all time favorites. It bothered me for days. "Don't bother sending a clue; I rarely seek a teaser cache at all and did this one only because a view seemed enticing. The only regret is that trash caches deter others from posting a credible cache." I think if he'd found the cache he would have felt differently.
  2. I've been having the same problem since May or early June. Some routes delete OK but some don't. These are typically the ones that show "0" turns. I started a topic about the problem but it didn't generate much interest. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=167028&hl= Thanks for bringing it up again, maybe something will happen on this go round.
  3. The "My Finds" PQ will always return your logs, regardless of how recent they are. I use CacheStats which scans this query directly. I set it up to scan for FTF! rather than just FTF. Than way it doesn't flag places where I've congratulated someone on their FTF. As far as where the log appears, I don't think it matters. I've been first to find and second or third to log many times and vice versa. No big deal.
  4. I would think that after the event was over they should disappear but that doesn't seem to be the case. Change your "will attends" to "notes" and they'll go away from your profile page.
  5. My guess is this was taken by a muggle. A real geo bandit would have taken everything or left only a note to tease you. A geocacher would have also realized that ammo cans are cheap, $4 to $6 bucks in my area, not much of a prize. A muggle would have thought "Score!" then maybe felt bad after reading the info and left the other stuff neatly ziplocked so as not to totally spoil the game. I'd move it a little and hide it better (the muggle may come back for another can) and not worry too much about it.
  6. I'm a premium member but my wife isn't. When we cache together and find a members only cache she uses one of these methods. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...p;#entry2668173
  7. Congratulations to the Chumpos on 1300! I hope you're having a great vacation!
  8. Congratulations dmagoo on 100 finds!!!!!! Way to go Debbie, nice job!!!!
  9. Congratulations to Dream Cache R on hitting 500!!!!! Good going Nancy!
  10. I've been involved in a couple of events where we needed a good head count in order to plan food and space. I think this would be a great feature.
  11. My experience has been about the same as yours, I get a reply about 50% of the time. To answer your specific question. If someone emailed me about something, yes I would reply. As much to the point, if I emailed someone about something, I know I would appreciate a reply back.
  12. Me too. Somehow telling her I'm going out geocaching and I'll probably head towards Idaho, just doesn't cut it..... It may be none of my business, but what the hell are you doing talking to MA's wife? Har Har Har. You knew what I meant but I fixed it anyway.
  13. Me too. Somehow telling my wife I'm going out geocaching and I'll probably head towards Idaho, just doesn't cut it..... I've probably come closer to being lost since I started geocaching than I ever did before I carried a GPS. I used to pay close attention to where I was and what route I would take back. Now I have my nose glued to the little arrow that I follow to the cache. Several times, after signing the log, I've looked around and realized that I didn't really know how I got there, or exactly which way the car was. Of course it's easy to back track with the GPS, but if it chose that moment to "pack it in", or if the batteries died, I could have had a problem. This is a bad habit I've been working on correcting!
  14. No, I think he got it right. When you're out caching and you find one, it's nice to have a "wee nip", to celebrate, and after a DNF maybe a full shot. But when you can't cache and you're stuck reading the forums, it's double shots all the way......now if my wife would just quit guarding the booze.........
  15. I love sig items and these are great! I wish I'd thought of that. It really says it all....... Cheers!
  16. I just noticed that I can delete a "good" route (one that has no problems), but can't delete any of my problem routes, which were the only ones I'd tried to delete before.
  17. Thanks, I did that and found a couple of recent threads discussing the problems people were having creating routes but none specifically about being unable to delete them, which is why I started a separate topic about that problem. There doesn't seem to be much interest in it though. I guess I'll just go back to doing "shotgun" PQs and running my routes through GSAK.
  18. I guess I'm probably a FTF Nut. I've been known to head out at 10 PM on Christmas eve for a FTF, (and get home about 2 AM Christmas morning). I can't explain why any more than I can explain why I enjoy geocaching to someone who doesn't think it sounds like fun. Different people enjoy different things...
  19. There appears to be quite a few problems with "Caches along a Route". There are several threads going about these problems, but so far I haven't seen any answers. Every now and then one of the routes I create works perfectly but most of the time there's some problem. They look fine in the preview but when I save them they don't plot on the map correctly or the wpt/turn count is zero. If I delete them they still remain on the list (I started a topic about this earlier but haven't recieved any comments yet). If I try to create a PQ on one of my "deleted" routes I get the same error message you do.
  20. I hadn't seen this before, thanks. I'm not sure this is showing the actual problem. I tried it on several other GC pages including the home page and I get the same errors on all of them.
  21. I've had a lot of trouble using the "Caches Along a Route" feature and as a result I've created several routes that don't work. When I delete them and then recheck the list, they're still there. It's starting to get confusing, I can't tell which of my routes work and which don't. Any ideas?
  22. With IE6 and 7. I don't even see any of the information that would normally be on the right side of the screen. No navigation panel, log your visit, watch listing, map, nothing. I also don't see any logs or anything below the description.....
  23. Thank you, MtnGoat! But it's not only us... Cheers to clh-fighting-duo for hitting the big 1200 as well! Thanks Don, It's hard to keep up with all the milestones. Congratulations to "clh...." Cheers and best wishes from MtnGoat50!
  24. Congratulations to my good friends the Chumpos on 1200. Cheers and best wishes from MtnGoat50!
  25. I would say "do it yourself" but I would suggest starting with a small pre made one to get the basics and perhaps the pouch or container. Look for sales at REI or one of the mail order discount camping places. I had one I used for 30 years, it was like an old friend but it was stollen with some other stuff last fall. and I still haven't made up a replacement. The pre-made ones all seem too big but buying the contents separately is expensive so a basic kit to start with is a good idea. I wish I had some pictures of my old one to show you. It was perfect.
