  4. Sorry if i'm missing something here, but second hand CDs are sold in a lot of stores, why would they need to be sealed as new? Look at them as a gift, you purchase it, open the CD and write "Love AlliedOz" and then give it to someone, no need to be sealed
  5. One huge tip I found after having a few DNF's was the Garmin colorado (not sure on other models) needs a calibration after each time you change the batteries. This has helped a lot as the difference can be several meters, many a time when out in the field and I remember to do it it goes from 12 meters away down to 7 without moving. If your unsure on how to calibrate your model a google search brings up all you'll need to know. Hope this helps
  6. Andrew the link seems not to be working. All good here, the link is working fine, but now I'm considering if it is worthwhile me adding my name to the list I wouldn't want to try and compete with Andrew, but always wanting and willing to help.
  7. I'm loving the idea of a music or better yet a dvd cache! As there is a Book exchange cache in my area that is great. But my concerns are the extremes in weather and the impact on media sitting in the summer sun sweating away. But a quick search on google puts those fears to rest. With different media having different limits, but in summary I found this snippet. (everything you read on the internet is true right? ) "The specifications for the optical media are far in excess of what you would be able to reach in normal circumstances, they are nothing short of bulletproof, with an average disc able to be stored at an astounding -40.C all the way up to 70.C." So with a team promise that we would not hide our first cache until we hit 100 finds and had a decent idea and place for the cache, we can cross off 1 out of 3 with the other two being worked on.
  8. Guys and Girls If you do fall into this contests guide lines do yourself a favour and take up the challenge! Not only will you find out some great history of Geocaching while you research all of the questions, you will be better equipped to use the Geocaching web site and these forums at the end of it, giving you a overall better caching experience no doubt. To top it all off the prize is a cracker, I wish I could say more So get to it it's great fun even if you don't win. This is a total unsolicited bump! I had fun doing it and wanted to spread the word.
  9. I'm so glad you scored one bluecherry, after having to get rid of some of your coin collection recently. The Geo_bandit is watching and has a good heart, well done.
  10. Watch it GG the sun over here has a real bite, not like that watered down stuff your used to
  11. Snow? what's that A few Aussie cards we got this year, we got our fair share of the typical snow cards as well but these are true blue plus a hand made one from a good friend, she is so talented. Plus a penguin card cos who does not like penguins (same people that don’t like puppy’s I bet)
  12. About 90% of our caching is the full team of 2 adults and 2 kids. Our team "The jokers" carry two bags into the field. One contains the much needed drinks and snacks a 6 and 4 year old always seem to need no matter how long the hike, along with the Bug spray, sting goes and some rubbish bags in case of cache maintenance or trash needs to come out. I get to carry the heavier and cooler stuff. Camera (being used of course) GPS Heaps of swaps selected by the kids trackables we are taking on a trip (a coin and TB in the pic) Torch (It found us a cache today in broad daylight in a dark spot deep under rocks that we both had previously looked) Battery's for the GPS of course some spare log books spare pens & pencils of all sizes to drop when needed. Some PT's to drop in caches (not pictured) Of course you can add any toys the kids want to bring and get bored of 5 minutes after we leave the car, extra water at times if the hike is long, a video camera if we are going some place that we might get some decent footage... the list goes on. I think I need a sherpa
  13. My few things that I'll be pissed about if I have not done when taking my last gasp -To visit the USA again and do and see all the touristy things we missed our first time around. -Visit Alaska (2012 we hope if the exchange rate improves and I have not spent all my cash on coins) -One day walk the whole of the Bibbulmun Track (maybe when I retire if my knees are still working as it is a Loooong walk)
  14. Thanks for your speedy replies Bluecherry All paid, adopted and set, now for the mail man wait.
  15. ** Must... Slow... Down...** Or do more overtime at work to pay for the addiction. Its the latter for sure.
  16. Nice one. I'll be doing my best to lay my hands on a couple of these beauties
  17. 1 am here and some serious clicking has secured me some nice coins (well I hope so, I got an e-mail confirming the order) In hindsight I doubt I should have messed around browsing and buying turtle pins in matching colours in the same order.
