  1. In California (at least my area, Sacramento, CA) I've come across quite a few cachers while seeking. It could be because of the concentration of caches or the concentration of cachers (both good things). I tend to jump right in and say Hello. The first time I met Snowrider was at Scooby Doo (now archived) I asked him what he was doing and he said he couldn't tell me. Since the coords were obviously way off we both didn't have out the GPSs. Well we started talking and found out we were on the same quest and we found it. Personally I think it's a great way to meet people and share common interests. Now unless it's a newbie I reconize them because we have had a few meetings.
  2. I think it also has to do with that some of the first caches placed in this area started that way. Maybe for extra waterproofing and the black bags tend to blend in. Personally I do it without the extra protection. (sorry couldn't resist some of that off color humor). There are quite a few in this area that are ammo cans and other waterproof containers without the bags. Maybe you just got lucky and got the ones that were. There is one cache in the area that is a definate must do (but a little hard for out of towners) You need a couple of days and a computer connection. It is Survivor placed by kimbo. It doesn't look might much to start but it keeps you interested to say the least.

  4. Sacramento Geocaching Picnic just approved. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=28379 There will be lots of activities available. But since it's been so hot lately maybe we should add in a water ballon fight.
  5. I already have two dogs so I don't think we can help. Both we got the same way. One is named Kota (short for Dakota, my favorite truck) and Kia (named for... well i don't remember now?).

  11. I totaly forgot about Orangevale Park for a picnic. Waldo stopped by today and noticed that there are tennis courts, horseshoe pits, frisbee golf and a volleyball area. Oh yeah and there are a lot of hiding places. We (Waldo and I) are thinking Aug 3 for the date of the picnic, now we have to come up with a time. August tends to be hot so maybe earlier 11-12am or after 6pm???

  13. We (c Mc5 and myself) could set something up But I would need to talk to past organizers for advice and even a volunteer or two to help with everything involved. I know I would forget something.

  15. I had a thought for stage 8 and even for 7 of waldos poker game. Deal the cards to the players at a getogether near the end of the game (or hide them in caches at the picnic). That way I could hand out the certificates directly to the the winners. The last friday if we play it out would be Aug 2. So any picnic in that timeframe plus or minus would work. I would also suggest lake Natomas for a picnic. The end by Nimbus dam has more facilities and Negro Bar at the other end was the locale for a Geocaching picnic that turned out very well.

  17. Food-- I don't put food in caches personaly although the cache item I have had the most problem with is anything liquid. Like kiddy bubbles and such. They have ruined three of my caches total. Odlaw-- Nice name. Can't wait. Picnic-- We haven't decided yet but we hope to.

  19. I forgot to mention that a new and improved Atlantis should be out shortly. It will be a slightly different cache placement. No special equipment but.....

  21. I like the idea! Will it be out soon so I can look? I made the first one of mine easy, maybe later in the game I should increase some of the difficulty.? Hhmmmm some evil thoughts come to mind. But don't worry I won't make a five star stage.... yet.

  23. After some thought I think this game will stay the way it is. Although I would still appreciate any ideas for the next one.

  25. I just got back from camping this weekend and just saw what was going on with the poker game. Quite a bit more response than I expected. So I was trying to come up with ways to make it more enjoyable for more people. These are a couple that make a little more sense than some others. 1. Make it five card stud. You stop picking up cards when you get five. That would open up the game to a few more people. 2. Add another deck. That would make it possible to get some relly wierd hands. ie two ace of spades. 3. Change the name to friday NIGHT poker. That way people that have to work monday through friday have a chance to play as well. Let me know what you think and if you have any ideas as well. Jeo
