  1. Are you not aware there are other caching apps? Most have the Groundspeak seal of approval, and some are fully-featured like you wouldn't believe. Here's the official but slightly out-of-date list: https://www.geocachi...obile/partners/ Thanks for that, but I paid for this app and now they are deleting the version that works for this new one that I totally dislike. Problems: Screen goes to sleep No Landscape Rotation No way to dip coins- EDIT: found the log option, but why is it not in the "Found" page like the old app and where it should be? Is there a settings page somewhere? I tried using this app since Thursday and found numerous caches. I became so frustrated I quit using the new app and went back to the old app. Now with the old app I get an annoying (app retiring) message every time I re-open the phone.
  2. Thanks. It is great fun and it gives me a reason to visit the parks more, but I'm disappointed that they are just collectible coins. I wrote Ga State Parks and asked them to change their description so there is no confusion.
  3. Has anyone completed the Georgia State Park Geo-Challenge and received their Geocoin? I received my Bronze Geocoin the other day and it has no tracking number, which means it isn't a Geocoin. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or maybe I just got a bad Geocoin with out a tracking number?
  4. I had a member pick up my TB and 8 others and still holds them. I emailed him and he responded saying he has been to busy to drop them off, even after he continued to log caches for 6 more months. He won't respond to emails now. I emailed the powers that be here and never received any reply at all. Not even a thank you very much, but there is nothing we can do. I will not be paying $30 to renew my membership.
  5. Yea, it took a pretty good trip too! Glad it showed up.
  6. It sad that you felt the need to NA a cache that you had never searched for. You deserve the anger people feel towards your actions.
  7. That's fine if that's what you like to do but it's not even remotely close to how travel bugs and coins were intended to travel and be logged ! Travelers that are dipped aren't picking up or accumulating "real," miles when they're in someone's pocket, backpack or home in a drawer. You're supposed to leave it there and part of the fun and excitement of the travel bug is to see who's going to pick it up and move it next and where they're going to take it. As I stated earlier, the charm is lost. I see a lot of cachers dipping their own personal bugs/coins. So if I have coins at home in an album and I dip them into every cache I visit, seriously, has that coin gone anywhere ? Are those miles real ?? We had a cacher once visit and log a series of 17 caches we own. 3 weeks later he posted a note on each of those 17 caches pages stating he was dipping his personal coin and he would delete all the notes when he was done. I have to be frank, I thought it was absurd ! Fake miles. Yea, I even use fake gas to take my personal coin to all the caches I visit so it can log fake miles Maybe you should take some fake Beano to prevent the fake gas LOL!

  9. He either changed his email or he's ignoring me.
  10. Well, it's been a week with no response to my email. I guess I'll give it a year and re-release, until then I'm putting a note on the TB page saying it was stolen by "offender name". What's he going to do, throw it away? He might as well.
  11. If you go to a TB page and click on "Print Info Sheet" in the text it states "If you are willing to log your part of this Trackable's journey and place it in another geocache as soon as possible (after you log your find), grab it from this geocache." Is that confusing to anyone else? I don't want to suggest changing to "Retrieve" if I'm the only one that has an issue with the wording. Need to make this process as simple as possible in my eyes based on past posts.
  12. Thanks BlueDeuce, I swear that "Watch Topic" wasn't there 10 minutes ago Thanks for the writeup also, very helpful.
  13. you can just subscribe to it and will be in your forum profile This should be a sticky, but since it's not, how do you suscribe to a thread as you stated? I even used the "help" feature and couldn't figure it out.
  14. That just reminded me about my Slug Bug TB. Some guy took it to Israel and logged it into a cache on 2/16/10. It sat there for almost 5 months with nothing happening. Then the same guy retrieved, but logged the retrieve as 2/17/10, 1 day after the original drop. Come to find out he dropped it and later the next day he got to thinking about the cache not being in a secure area and went back and retrieved it. When he got back from his trip he had to have leg surgery and didn't get a chance to complete the log until 07/09/10. Moral of the story (lol) - I do realize that cachers are human and have issues, but to hold 9 TB's is a foul.
  15. I think it is a good idea basically, but... How would you suggest activating it? Right now there is a note if you hold them too long (2 weeks ??) But that only works IF you have logged them at all! Would this be a TB Owner activated complaint to GC / GS HQ? Or something that would be owner activated directly? Also what would be the next step if ignored... perhaps then would be the time for 'refreshments' and moving on? Doug 7rxc Well, I think it would have to be submitted by the TB owner to GS HQ for activation on offenders acct. This would be more work for them, so I don't ever see a process like this becoming a reality. I think it's a sound idea never the less. squirtchy, I totally agree. I'm done buying TB's and Geocoins, it's not worth the money when stuff like this happens.
  16. On the other hand you could simply put a hold on his acct. not letting him access anymore caches until he reads a short statement advising him of the proper way to collect and drop TB's/Geocoins. After reading the statement all he has to do is hit a button that says he understands and his acct. is restored. I firmly believe that most people who do this don't understand the proper procedures.
  17. I'll email him again and see what happens. (Fingers crossed)
  18. Not a permanent ban, but some sort of a hold on his acct. until he acknowledges the error of his ways I don't see anything discouraging what the offenders do. Maybe public floggings?
  19. I know this has been discussed, but something needs to be done. In July a cacher picked up one of my TB's and has yet to drop it off. I emailed him after 3 months with no response, then again after 5 months, again with no response. So I look at his profile and he picked up a total of 9 that day and still has them in his possession. I think the powers to be should lock members acct's that do this type of non-sense. What else can be done?
  20. About a year ago I ran across a thread that explained to how add TB's and GC's to our profiles. I thought that was cool so I added my inventory to my profile. Just recently I activated another TB and want to add it to my profile also, but after much searching I can't seem to locate the thread. Anyone know how to do this, or know of the thread? Thanks!
  21. It seems I'm having this issue now on my Air Force Geocoin. I was doing some back logging (dipping) last night and every drop I entered isn't showing miles. I have tried recalculating without any luck. It's weird because pages 1, 2 and 5 show the miles, but not pages 3 and 4. Do I just need to be patient and let it go a few days?
  22. To the OP, why not post the size? It's available on the description page for a reason and I personally believe the size should be listed.
  23. Here's mine and it wasn't too long ago. GCT2JA Here's the entry: January 31 by Len & Cheri (75 found) My wife and I were just signing the log when around the corner came a Deputy Sheriff in his car who acted like he was after someone. He asked what we we were doing and my wife said "Geocaching". He responded with a weird look because he obviously didn't know what she was talking about. I told him " It's a high tech hide and seek", he said "It must be high tech" and drove off. Our first encounter with a LEO and I'll bet it won't be our last.
