  1. Got my tokens yesterday...actually very nice as everyone has stated. Durable, will hold up very well if they travel from cache to cache. Going to go put some out today! bad cell pic...sorry
  2. That is what I would do. Doesn't hurt to see if someone wants to adopt them and take them under their own visual. What will it hurt? If no one does, then archive them before you leave.
  3. You can get them at Groundspeak's shop. Go to Geocaching.com home page and you'll see the link to shop on the left hand side. Had my magnetic one for awhile and no one has logged it. Even at events... One problem is that the numbers are small so as far as driving and someone seeing it, it probably isn't going to happen. But I await that day that "Cache Force One" gets it first log. It'll happen, I know it will!
  4. Wait...maybe I am missing something... What will that macro actually do? It almost sounds like paperless caching, but the 60CSx can't do that...can it?
  5. I have done that with plenty of stuff..lol; however my favorite memory of something like that took place when I was a kid and my grandfather put a glass pie plate on the roof while load other stuff. We were taking it back to my great aunt's house and we got a block from home when he went around the corner and I watched the pie plate sail past the window and shatter into a million pieces. I learned new words that day that I never heard before!
  6. And this would seem to indicate that this user is operating a business rather than merely selling personal items which is likely a violation of the forum rules. http://myworld.ebay.com/yurcoscom/ http://shop.ebay.com/yurcoscom/m.html?_nkw...om=&_ipg=25 It also seems like a very high price, especially considering you need to add shipping onto that. I think I have 3 Army & Navy Surplus stores withint an hour of driving here and basically at the most expensive one the 50 cal ammos are $6.99. At the cheapest, $5.69. 20 cals go for $3.99. I personaly would be leary of this as stated by other cachers.
  7. I saw that thread over on the Pathtags forum...Happy Birthday right back at you!
  8. So today (well, yesterday now) I turned 37. Family got me gift certificates to Groundspeak which I blew each day as I got them, lol. But today my wife surprised me with some awesome gifts from her and the kids. They got me..... From CoinsandPins.com; a 100 Finds Achievment Coin, a 10 Hides one, and a 25 Hides one (I haven't hide 25 yet, but if I follow through with plans, I'll be there in about 2 months.) I am amazed at just how cool these coins are. They also got me the TravelTurle or TurtleTraveler...something like that and the Spaceshuttle one too. They are trackable items as well. So then with the other gifts and gift certificates I got this stuff: The list breaks down as this: * Tech + Nature = Geocaching bumper sticker * Geo sticker * GPS sticker * Geocaching.com world marble (these are really cool. Too cool that I won't use it as a FTF prize as I first thought. * 4 mini logo stickers * large GC sticker * Geocacher multitool * 5 Travel Bugs * Offical Earthcache Geocoin * GeoTriad geocoin (which I posted elsewhere on here a few days ago when it first arrived.) All in all I think I made out pretty good in the geocaching department.
  9. I have a bug that is in a race with my brother's bug. We are racing from Alabama to Arizona, and someone picked up my bug and took it too Germany!!!! Das ist nicht sehr gut!
  10. Still awaiting the tokens but I believe they are on the way!
  11. Personally, I ignore that 1:1 thing when people say it, mostly because the common rule doesn't apply to Hitchhikers (TBs and Coins). I would rather someone take my traveler while taking 5 TBs so it would be moving then it sitting because someone only takes one. That isn't a TB hotel, that's a "TB Hotel Californa" "Goodnight says the nightman, we are programmed to recieve. You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave." LOL, just heard that song and it popped into my head with this. Not fair to those whose bugs get dropped in a secure place to have them sit there. Great they are safe, but they aren't doing what their purpose is...travel. If someone finds the cache and there are not bugs...well, then there are no bugs. Sign the log and be happy with the smiley!
  12. Sorry all, this one was shipped out yesterday. Mods...the sale has been made and you can delete or lock this thread as per instructions in the sticky about listing things for sale. Thanks!
  13. So instead of being a geocache, you wish o be a TB...COOL!! seriously...I did not read that before my last post. lol
  14. There is one somewhere near us, I have never seen it, might be an urban geocaching legend or something; but the person who died was a cacher and knew they were facing their end with cancer. Had it arranged to have a multi set up in the cemetary and had his tombstone engraved with one of the set of co-ords. Kinda cool...I personally want to be perserved, have a TB attached to me and ship me around to be discovered at all the events I will miss.
  15. I requested my tokens over a week ago and still haven't seen anything to even put out.
  16. TOPO 08 doesn't autoroute, so your unit is using the Basemape that does. The resolution of TOPO 08 is equivalent to 100K, so when zoomed in farther than that you will see that your GPS can provide a higher level of resolution than your map was made at. I am certainly getting a the TOPO O8 details on the screen. Without them it was the basemap, with them I have all the topo lines and detail. Wait..think I just understood you. So if I turned it to off road the confusion between the two would be fixed?
  17. I just found where I went to setup>routing>and turned the guidance method to "off road", then the follow road method to "shorter distance" and the next turn pop-up to "off". Think that will take care of the problem, but it is now after 3am here and if I decide to wake up the wife and tell her I need to go outside to test my GPS so if the baby wakes up she needs to feed him...well, let's just say I am glad I put a lanyard on the Garmin so I had something I could pull it back out of my butt with.
  18. oh...and also noticed that at times when it is tracking, the map seems to be off a little...don't get that. using TOPO 08s.
  19. I am sure this is an almost simple answer, but I can't find it and getting frustrated. I recently got a Garmin 60CSx off of the GPS garage sale forum and it is working good as far as zeroing in on the targets, but I am finding it very frustrating how it wants to pull up driving directions for me. Yesterday, I was about 1 mile away from the cache, could see it on the map of the handset, and when I clicked on the "go to" button, it pulled up a road route that was about 4 miles in distance and had me going on an interstate. There was a road that went right to the cache even, but it took a driving route. My eTrex that I had been using would give me a line on the map that was "as the crow flies." I am sure this one would do it too, but I can't find the setting to change, nor can I find it in the documentation. Thanks
  20. One of your problems is that you got a serial cord to hook it to the computer. Radio Shack has adapters that should take it from a serial connection to a usb connection for fairly cheap. However you should be able to enter the co-ords in by hand through one of the screen pages. The book should tell you how to do that. Good luck!
  21. Been looking for a certain coin to show up and when I went to the mailbox toay, it wasn't there, but an order that I placed with Groundspeak just the 2 days ago came. That's fast service. Got the "Tech + Nature = Geocache" bumper sticker... AND the Geotriad Geocoin. I have a family trip in the works for next summer to the west coast, particularly Washington. Anyone know how I get an invite to The Lillypad? My new goal is to complete the Triad. Sorry for the bad cell phone pic.
  22. Sale Pending...should know soon. I took the first one in line to make me an offer so if it doesn't work out, I'll be in contact with others.
  23. Sending email as well...just in case there are some left!
  24. That's easy if you don't mind a little substitution. How about going around your area and filling up 50 caches with McDonald's flyers. Then reward yourself by cutting a geocoin sized circle out of a cheeseburger wrapper. Mail it to yourself with a thank you note from Ronald (fake his signiture). Put your new coin and thank you note on your mantlepiece. Make sure to point it out to friends when they come over. seems like someone has got a bug in his Vegamite sandwhich...
  25. Have you updated the firmware and the chip thingy??
