  1. http://www.huntinggpsmaps.com/ I am just wondering if anybody here has tried Hunting GPS Maps? I was in a Cabelas a few days ago and ran across this. I was thinking that this could be handy when I bring a GPS Along for ATVing, because it shows property ownership.
  2. http://www.severscornmaze.com/ I just thought I would post that I took my family to Sever's Corn Maze this fall. It was my first time, so it was kind of interesting to get a map and follow my sons around locating points inside the maze. I brought my Garminfone with and it was interesting to look at the track on the map. It sort of reminded me of geocaching! I am just curious, has anybody here visited any corn mazes this fall and, if so, did you bring along your GPS?
  3. I just bought the Garmin Nuvifone G60 a few weeks ago and it is working well for me.
  4. I just bought a Garmin Nuvifone G60 a few weeks ago as well. While I haven't geocached with it yet, I suspect that I will sometime when it gets warmer.
  5. I geocached one day last year and I want to try it again. I finally bought a Garmin Nuvi 500 a couple of weeks ago and I added POIs, updated the software to add TTS, transferred Favorites from MapSource, addeda 4 GB micro SD-HC, etc. Now I want to focus on trying to geocache with it. Where do I start? Are there any certain books, on line articles, etc that I should read first?
  6. I searched the forum looking for this, but I couldn't find anything. Have people been discussing the leaked Garmin Oregon 550 Series With Built In Camera?
  7. I bought a used Pharos GPS Phone 600, which is the same as the ETEN Glofiish X500, and installed Garmin Mobile XT. It is a nice combination. It is an unlocked GSM phone, so in the US that means AT&T or T-Mobile as the biggest GSM carriers here.
  8. Nuvi 500 at Best Buy $223.00 if you can find it in stock. You may have to call a store and ask them to look for it at other stores in your area. http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=123759
  9. I just bought Garmin Mobile XT and I am using it on a Pharos GPS Phone 600. How well would this work for geocaching? Here is a compass that can be downloaded to a pocket PC. Maybe I will dig a little deeper into paperless geo-caching with a pocket PC. http://www.mobiletopsoft.com/pocket-pc/dow...ompass-2-1.html
  10. I just joined this forum a few weeks ago after my first time out geocaching. I haven't gone geocaching since, but I do already have an automotive GPS (Garmin StreetPilot 2730). I am thinking about getting another GPS for my other vehicles, geocaching, and ATVing. I saw that REI has the Garmin Nuvi 500 for $289.99. I am tempted to get that, but then I ran across this thread and I am wondering if I should get a different GPS and download GSAK? I am wondering if anybody here can compare and contrast the Garmin Nuvi 500/550 to a different Nuvi with GSAK. I am not interested in any sort of handheld GPS at this time. One of the biggest advantages to me to using a different GPS would be something with a wide screen, multiple destination routing, and spoken test to speech, like a Garmin Nuvi 750. One of the biggest advantages for me of the 500/550 is weather resistance. I would not mount it on my ATV, but rather have it in a cordura nylon case in a storage compartment when needed. If my wife has any input on this, she would want a pink or red Nuvi.
  11. http://www.rei.com/product/775807 It is on sale until 12-01-2008. Considering the current economy, I suspect many stores will price match. This also points out that there is a considerable margin of profit on these devices. Clearly the Garmin Nuvi 500 isn't for everybody, but given its weather resistance, it will be just the device for many people. GPS Deals Finding the Best GPS Deals on the Web http://bestgpsdeals.net/ Although this may not be the optimum GPS for geocaching, if you are looking for an automotive GPS, maybe this is worthy of consideration at this price. Here is the GPS Tracklog review of the Garmin nuvi 500: http://gpstracklog.typepad.com/gps_tracklo...n-nuvi-500.html
  12. I am brand new to this hobby and forum and I am looking for any suggestions for a used smart phone. This will not necessarily be used for geocaching, however. I like to ride my ATV and I am occasionally in areas that my work Nextel does not have coverage. Because of that I would like to find a used smart phone that works on a network other than Nextel. The phone will only be used for wireless 911 in an emergency or I may possibly buy pre-pay minutes. I would like to get one that also has either wi-fi or GPS that will work directly from the satellites and not via the cell phone network. Does anybody know what smart phones would meet these requirements? Also, is Ebay the best place to buy a used smart phone. (I already have a Garmin StreetPilot 2730 for automobile navigating and it is possible I will get another GPS soon for a second vehicle and/or one for geocaching.)
