  1. Sorry I did not see your post about having TOPO. For that the whole CD does not install. If you already have a Mapsource product installed, TOPO will not full install. It will integrate itself into the already installed mapsource. After that it you will need to put in the CD every time you want to use it. It works this way even on a full install. So if you don't want to have to keep putting in the CD you can use the Alcohol 120% solution.
  2. I believe when installing, you select the regions you want installed, or you can select "All" to select all the regions to do a complete install. Then it should install the maps you selected. After that, you should not need the CD. If you really want to copy the CD onto your HD and run it from there, then you will need to make a "disk image", and install software that creates a virtual CDROM drive that can read the image. A great program for this is Alcohol 120%
  3. The only thing that I noticed is that it will monitor only 8 satellites instead of 12. I guess monitoring each channel takes up more power.
  4. I was wondering, can you load waypoints from Cachemate directly to a Garmin GPSr? On the Cachemate page it only refers to Magellan. Thanks!
  5. I'm sorry, I must be missing something here. Can sombody please tell me how to manually set a cache in the gsak database as found? Thank you!
  6. But my $10 box is sooo pretty! Actually I was seriously considering the 5555, after all the biometrics sounded very cool. But size was the deciding factor for me, which is why I also did not get the 4355. I don't have anything that secret that I need that much security anyway. I will be keeping my eyes open for that one too

  8. I have an ipaq 4150 too, well actually a 4155 which is exactly the same thing. Sure it is a little smaller, but it fits very neatly in my pocket, clip-board, or anywhere else I want to put it. Now if it could talk to my 60c via bluetooth, I would probably have an orgasm. BTW if you really miss the extra 64MB om internal memery try this.
  9. I'm new to geocaching too, but I have not needed a compass yet. My 60c has put me within 10 feet of a cache every time. I have heard that electronic compasses are not very accurate, need frequent calibration, and uses a lot of battery power. If I ned a compass, I will buy a good regular compass. That way if the battery on my 60c dies, I will still have a compass to use.
  10. I'm not, but my wife the Tigger Lady is! I told her I will buy a left handed GPSr.
  11. I am using Beta1, I saw on you site that there was a Beta2, but did not d/l yet. I think I will do that now. Thank you!
  12. Sorry, It looks like I spoke too soon (again). I am using Mapsource v5.4 trip and waypoint manager v2 that came with the 60c. On GSAK I go to File -->Export -->Mapsource MPS File. I select the Geocache and Geocache Found icons from the drop down menu, then export the MPS file. When I open with Mapsource, now I get "Circle with X" icons for both geocache icons. I do it this way, because I am using Mapsource to transfer to the 60c via USB cable. I can manually change the icons in Mapsource to the geocaching icons, and then load them correctly to the 60c, but with over 100 icons, this gets a little tedious. Am I still doing something wrong? Thank you again!
  13. Just need a bit more info here to get to the root of the problem. Are the icons correct in Mapsource? There was a problem here with Beta1 because it assumed you were using version 3 of MapSouce. Beta 2 now has a combo box that allows version selection and the default is now version 5. If the icons are correct in MapSource but then not so in your GPS I need to know how are you sending the waypoints to your GPS. IE are you using MapSoruce to do the sending or GSAK? Finally either way you are sending waypoints to your GPS make sure you have the correct brand and/or Model set in the configuration. Thank you very much for responding! I found the problem. I was formulating a reply to you, and was going over the steps, and I found in the Export to Mapsource dialog the drop downs for the icons. I did not notice these before, what a dope I am! I apologize for wasting your time.
  14. I admit that I am still new to geocaching, so please go easy on me if this has already been asked. When I export the GPX file into mapsource format, and then upload to via USB to my 60c I loose all the geocaching icons, and they all turn into amusement park icons in my 60c. All except the geacache found icon which turns into a glider area icon. Am I doing something wrong? I have searched the help file, and the forums here, and cannot find an answer. Thank you for all the time you put into development, this is a great program!
  15. Just testing from a newbie!
  16. You're right. Not all environmentalists are haters of humanity. There are the other type who worship nature as their God, and any defilement by humans is blasphemy. I should say that this is an obvious generalization, and of course does not apply to all who might consider themselves environmentalists, but for the hard core environmental movement this is mostly true. When you worry about the insignificant impact of an ammo can placed by people who obviously care for the environment, then I place you in that category. If that does not fit you, then I apologize.
  17. Why is an object of human origin intrinsically bad? That is what drives me nuts about "environmentalists"; they are essentially haters of humanity. If placed with minimal impact, and does no damage, I don't see anything wrong with it.
  18. I have been considering getting the Mapopolos Bluetooth GPS for my ipaq 4155, but I still have some questions about it that I cannot find answers for on any web site. According to the Mapopolis site the GPS unit also serves as a stand-alone unit. does anybody know the capabilities of the stand-alone unit? Has anybody seen or used one of these? Thank you for any information you can provide!
