  1. I agree. You can use whatever you can to make cd images (you can with nero, clonecd, probably roxio, etc) Then use daemon tools to mount these images as virtual disk drives. This way you don't have to tweak the registry and its keeps the file nicely packaged (1 file for each cd) - it will make these images show up as a cd rom drive, so the software is nonethewiser DT webpage: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/
  2. For converting formats, check out the gpsbabel software at http://www.gpsbabel.org/ or even an online version http://wayhoo.com/index/a/gpsbabel/ Indispenable! And i would recommend converting the GPX format Its universal (kinda)!
  3. You actually have quite an assortment of software for accomplishing what you want easily. With your GPS being a Magellan, most of the softwares out there support your unit. All you would need is a cable to attach it to your computer and you can use one of several softwares out there to download the track data from your gps to your pc. For software packages you might want try out these (assuming your a pc user): Topofusion (www.topofusion.com) - you can download a free demo that puts the word demo on topo and aerial photos - has an amazing array of features. Quake Map (www.earthquakemap.com) - free and full featured. you can even plot earthquake epicenters on your map Natl Geographics TOPO (http://maps.nationalgeographic.com/topo) - costs a few $$, but they have the nicest topo maps, they scanned their own rather than rely on the terraservers. ExpertGPS (www.expertgps.com) - madeby the same people as easygps, very good solid software. Costs a couple bucks as well. Theres more out there, but these are what i typically use and can easily recommend.
