  1. Disa actually hates water It may be in part from a mutually-traumatic bathing experience when she was a kitten, though. She's getting more "ok" with it, but by no means what's typical of Bengals. Luna, however, has jumped in the toilet before (mainly trying to jump on the toilet seat, and not checking to make sure the lid is down ), and enjoys playing in the sink if you're using the toilet. Luna: cute, but not so smart.
  2. My first time participating in a cointest, but thankfully, my girlfriend and I (the both of us compromising thy_avatar) love our cats! Our two cats are Disa, aged 2 yrs, and Luna, aged 7 months. Disa was our first kitten we adopted from the Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter; she was 8 months old. She's part tabby, part Bengal, which gives her some beautiful coloring and some astounding athletic abilities. As for Luna, we recently adopted her from a fostering friend at the tender age of 5 months; as far as her medical history states, she was born missing most of her tail. She was with her twin sister (fully-tailed, as it were) when we adopted Luna. Ok, on to the pictures!
  3. I use a Garmin GPS V with an external antenna (both mounted on a 'stick' so it's one handed). I can get about 6ft-7ft accuracy in the clear to light cover and between 15ft-30ft accuracy in heavy tree cover or thick clouds. I've never had over 40ft accuracy unless it's been super thick cloud cover and pouring rain. The advertised battery life is 8 hours on four disposable alkaline AAs, but I think the external ant. and backlight reduce that-mine also will NOT run properly on rechargeable batteries-it turns off without warning after a few minutes. It can use most of the maps Garmin sells: road, TOPO, fishing, water/marine charts. It does not have much internal memory for maps-but you can always swap out for maps of the area you plan on going to. The screen is B/W and easily viewed in the daylight by adjusting the contrast, wearing polarized sunglasses will mean you have to tilt the screen in order to view it properly though. I think it's a good unit that has the capability of being used in many different ways.
  4. Way to try to discourage a new cacher. From the reviews of this thing on Amazon it looks like it would be dangerous to use in the real world-and very dangerous to use in unfamiliar or uneven terrain, since you only get to see 'night vision' out of one eye. You may want to look into a tinted flashlight. I have a blue LED key chain flashlight that provides a good view a few feet in front of me, does not mess with my eyes being adjusted for night vision too much, and is not very visible from a distance when pointing it towards the ground. It does have a very limited range due to it only being one LED in a key chain. Colors defiantly look allot different under it, but you can see whats underfoot, or in a tree hole decently. You may want to try poking around the flashlight section of a sporting goods, hunting, or boat supply store and get an idea of what's available-you should be able to get something descent for $30 or under. Something to keep in mind with LED lights they usually provide a good amount of bright light in a small area, unless you get something with a few LEDs in it and they are properly positioned and reflected to flood a larger area-like a 'regular' flashlight (allot are not). You would probably need to shell out some big bucks in order to get the kind of night vision device for what you want to use it for. Just my $.02
  5. Bottlecap Micro Cache This micro cache is a great size - a bit smaller than a film canister - for almost any hiding spot. Water resistant (if closed properly) with specially designed logs that you don't need tweezers for, the logs can hold a little less than 150 names per 'booklet'. Each micro cache is handmade and sold as-is; they have never been used and been cared for lovingly in my home. This bottlecap-combo cache measures approximately 1.2" high by 1.3" wide. With each cache I'll include two log booklets - one pre-rolled and inside the cache, another as a refill. Each log has about 100 slots for signing, plus the blank space on the back of each page. The first batch is available here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=250384646601 This batch are all red like the one pictured, more are available-but are not 100% ready to go yet, are various colors and slightly different in size, and do not have extra logs yet. A magnet can be glued inside or outside to increase the possible hiding spots for one of these.
