  1. ok thanks, that should be enough to get me pointed in the right direction.
  2. I have been reading different threads and many of them mention using a laptop while caching. I am not sure if there has been a prior post on this, but I have faith that I will be pointed in the right direction. How do you go about doing this away from home? I just purchased a laptop and think that this could be very beneficial. I do get tired of shuffling through all of the printouts. Thanks for you help
  3. Oops, I apologize. I didn't read all of the posts regarding this topic. My bad All I saw were the posts about lame caches. Please forgive my lack of attentiveness
  4. If a cache has no redeeming value, does that mean that it is lame? I have a cache that right in the cache description I have said that there is no redeeming value to it. It is only there for the accomplishment of the find as it was the first one (that I know of) in this area. If you read the logs, you will see that no one has said it was lame. Yeah, I agree that there is quite a bit of trash around (it is across the street from a recycling center), but that makes a good opportunity to practice CITO!
  5. I am an avid reader. I also do counted cross stitch, knit, crochet, and cook to name a few. I also am an official with Oregon Swimming, Inc. and officiate at swim meets on weekends.
  6. Can someone tell me how to get them to appear on a cache page? I dropped one off in one of my caches today, and would like the page to say "Geocoins have been seen here" and also show up on the main listing page. Thanks
  7. Speaking of geocoins, can someone tell me how to get them to appear on a cache page? I dropped one off in one of my caches today, and would like the page to say "Geocoins have been seen here" and also show up on the main listing page. Thanks
  8. THe safety thing is a big issue with me. There are numerous caches hidden along a nice new walkway on our local river that are just perfect for lunch time finds, however, as a woman, I won't go by myself. Just too many weirdos out there for me to feel comfortable.
  9. I have finally gotten around to downloading Easy GPS to my computer. Now when I have tried to use it, I checked about a dozen caches at geocaching.com, clicked the download button and saved to EasyGps on my computer. However, when I opened it up, only the last one that I checked has downloaded. How do I get more than one to download at a time, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.
  10. Well that certainly makes sense!! Sorry if the questions seem less than smart. Still learning. Thanks for your help. Kathy
  11. I was looking on the geocaching site at some caches and noticed that some of the caches have red checkmarks and asteriks next to them. What do they mean? Thanks
  12. Thanks. I guess we aren't snoopy/patient enough. Kathy
  13. My husband and I are new to this fun activity and we are confused about the difference between the various GPS units. We have heard that depending on the unit used, the coordinates could be slightly different. Why? Aren't all units reading the same satellites? We have been skunked several times. Our coordinates are right on the numbers, but even with the hint, we have not been able to locate the cache. Our most recent skunk led us to an old garbage pile. (We did practice caching in and garbage out). Are we doing something incorrect? Thanks for your help.
