  1. Just out of curiosity, I was wondering where you are located that you found the 400 for $99. I just bought the 300 for like $120 and was upset becuase I didn't realize it didn't have sd capibilities. However, I looked at the WalMart website and the 400 is still like $190. Thanks!
  2. Maybe I am not being clear. I am looking for a way to cache using the Triton 300 where it will let me know what direction, and how far away the cache is. Any help would be great!
  3. Not trying to be rude here, but I understand that I can do it this way, it is just not my preference. I am wondering how or if I can have it track similarily to the way my old unit did it. Thanks for any info!
  4. I realize that that is a possibility but I am not fond of not knowing exactly how far away the cache (coordiantes) truely are. Maybe it is just because i am realitivly new to caching, but I typically like to track a cache from a couple of directions to figure narrow down locations where the cache could be. That is why I am not happy with just zooming into 100 feet on the map. Also I am still using the map that came with GPS (haven't looked into changing/creating/buying a new one) and that might be why it kinda sucks to just zoom in.
  5. Ok, so i am using the 300 for geocaching. I realize this isn't the topic for that, but I think the answer to my question is realitively simple, I just can't seem to figure it out. So I enter in the geocache coordinates and start heading out. However, when I get there, I do not know how to create a more precise measure of where the cache really is. On my old unit, it would bring up a compass and the needle would be pointing to where the (waypoint) or cache was and underneath the compass, it would state how far away the waypoint was. So, I am wondering how I can make the 300 just a little more geocaching friendly... Thanks! p.s. let me know if I need to be more specific
  6. I just got a Triton 300 for Christmas. I realize that it dosn't have an external sd card, but i was wondering if I could donwload a differnt basemap. I am going to be using the gps for geocaching in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Because we will rarely use it out of WI or MN, I was wanting to get a detailed map because the basemap that is currently in the system.... well sucks. Are there any free maps out there (I'm a college student, had to ask), if not I have heard NatGeo might be the way to go. Any advice would be absolutely wonderful!
  7. Not to go off-topic, but google's browser Chrome is by far the best way to go. The tabs run individually on seperates processes, besides the built in protection. It's defiently built for people who are looking for protection, and a much simplier format than IE or Firefox.
  8. Sorry, very new to adding caches directly onto the GPS. Where do I have to buy a premium membership at, geocaching.com? Also, is the 300 a good thing to start at for the price ($150-175).
  9. My fiance and I got the 300 for x-mas. We really enjoy geocaching and finally got a GPS of our own instead of having to borrow one. However, the in-laws got us the 300, not knowing anything about GPS units. Couple of questions: 1) is there anyway to upload caches to the unit without having to enter them individually 2) are there better GPS units out there for newbs for under $175 (the in-laws got this one for 150 i think) 3) Not sure but is there a way to do turn-by-turn with this beast? -Thanks for everything!
