  1. You can change them to something smaller, like the generic waypoint dot, but not "turn them off". If you change them to something other than the treasure chest the 60CX will no longer recognize them as geocaches and you will lose the geocaching function on the compass page. Interesting. Could I change them to a unique icon that I would normally use? Could I do them all at once or would I have to do them one at a time? If all at once, then could I change them back to the Geocache Icon and then have it gain back the geocach functions? dave
  2. I loaned my Garmin 60Cx to my family and they put on a large number of GeoCacheing sites with icons. The sites are all in one general area. Is there a way to turn just the GeoCaching icons off on the Map without turning off my personal Waypoints. The large number of those GeoCaching Symbols hamper the use of the 60Cx in Auto Routing in my car. I don't really want to delete their GeoCaching waypoints as they may want to use them again. dave
  3. My experience with my purchase of my 60Cx last week from http://gpsnow.com/gmmap60cx.htm. I selected the unit I wanted, add to the cart, filled in credit card number (new customer). Clicked on the continue and noticed that I had an slight error in my address (it didn't quite match my billing address) So I returned and corrected and continued thinking there wouild be a "final submit" button as there are in many places. It ws then that I concluded that I had just bought twoo of them. I thought, ooops, but I could resellit pretty easy. But I no more then thought this when the phone rang from the site Rep asking me If I really wanted to purchase two units. Nope, so he cancelled one and sent me email confirmation of same. WOW. this is great customer service IMO. I thought the price was okay also. dave
  4. A follow up question, If I may: If I get the City Navigator, do I load selected areas of the Maps on to the micro SD? Can load different areas onto separate cards? And can I just pull these cards out and in when I want to travel to these areas? It this how they work. Excuse me if this sounds lame, but I have just purchased a Garmin GPSmap 60Cx and I am having trouble getting my head around this. To be frank, Garmin's website is lacking in this information. Thank goodness for this community here dave
  5. excuse me if this is lame. Can Mapsource data be used on more than one GPS? and. Can Mapsource data be used on more than one computer? dave
  6. I should have thought of that as I just had the Garmin comparison page up and noticed the difference in voltage. Thanks for the quick response. Lonesomedave
  7. Is my old Garmin IIIplus cigarette lighter adapter compatable with a Legend that I just purchased? Lonesomedave
  8. I have yet to get a replacement GPSr and have not sought a cache. I was wondering how much walking hiking would be involved for a typical low to medium difficulty cache. I want to know what I can prepare for. I don't care about climbing since I wont' do that. Lonesomedave
  9. Since my Garmin GPS III+ has quite me and since I have been wanting to get into this great new (for me) sport, I think I have decided to purchase a Meridian Platinum. Amazon has them for $239 with free shipping. That seems to be a pretty good price. Several used units have been going for more. That's always a good indication to me. The new Gold units, being at $199, I think for another $40 that seems the way I will go. Any comments Lonesomedave.
  10. I will get in on this thread. I am a newbie her on these forums but I have sold and bought close to 200 items on eBay and have used PayPal for many of them. I have only had one problem with something i have bought and that was because I was not here when USPS delivered the battery and I think it was lifted from my Mail box. My items that I have bought and sold have been as little as $3 and up to $1100 which was my Studio Camera (I am a Photographer). I also bought a $2000 camera over eBAy. You just have to be careful what you buy and from whom you buy it from. If it sounds too good to be true don't buy it. Also look at the Feedback when buying. See what others have said about him. When looking at the feedback check that what you are interested in is similar to what he has sold before. Scammers will sometimes Highjack an account to list their items. If a "seller" has a history of selling shirts and shoes and dolls don't buy a $1000 computer from him when the normal price of said computer is regularly $2000. As George Bush Sr would say. "It just isn't prudent" When selling an item, describe it accurately and truthfully. If there are scratches and marks and chip on the item show those in photos in the listing. Don't retouch the marks out. Point them out so that the buyer knows what he is buying. You wont' regret it. I put several images of the item form different views in my listings. It costs just 15 cents to have eBAy host your image and you can put up 5 (one is free). Use them. Lonesomedave
  11. In regard to using the Library. When I load the CD into the PC, does it install any software on the computer? I know that it gets the map data from the CD but I just supposed that it also installed some basic App on the computer. Lonesomedave
  12. This is my first post on this forum. I am about to purchase a Magellan Meridian, I think. My question is this: Can I use several SB Memory cards each with a different Map area on it? Then when I want to go to that area I can just insert the card that has that area. You might think that I could just easily upload the area from my CD into my Unit. But the problem is that I don't use a Wintel computer. I am a diehard Mac user of so many years. I do have sister-in-law in a neighboring town that has a PC for me to use occasionally but it is not that easily accessible . Thanks for the opportunity to ask this question. By the way, I have had a Garmin GPS III+ that i have use for a few years. It has now died so rather than have it repaired I decided to get a new one. Lonesomedave
