  1. Yes, it makes surprisingly little difference. Even on a recent hike I did of around 20km with over 1250m of climb it only made about 0.2km difference, about 1% at most, so don't sweat it. Wow I did not realise the difference was so little. But is it as I thought that the Oregon gives the horizontal distance?
  2. I know this has probably been discussed many times before and tried a search but.... Does the trip odometer distance on my Oregon give just the horizontal distance covered or a combination of Horizontal and vertical distances i.e. closer to the accutate distance travelled... Thanks in advance.

  4. 400 they seem to all be mixed together in the file current.gpx
  5. Excellent - that will teach me I use Memory Map most of the time! Is there an accessible location, for waypoints, on the Oregon directly?
  6. Hi I can't find where the Oregon stores its waypoints. So I can transfer waypoints to the Oregon from the computer but can't transfer waypoints that I've created with the Oregon back to the computer. So when I'm walking though I can transfer the track back to the Oregon, all those useful little waypoints like "Good pub here" can't be accessed on the computer (though I can still access them on the Oregon. Can anyone help? TIA
  7. "Truly, all that poster is doing is mistating the facts which is very misleading. He wants you to believe that a simple fix for the crummy view in sunlight is to push a button and you've somehow made adjustments." As soon as you touch the screen of an Oregon the backlight comes on - a "fix?" - its hardly difficult. You are 100% correct, the OP said "have the best sunlight screen visibility without backlight" BUT surely a more useful comparison is which have the best sunlight screen visibility - the answer is probably not the Oregon but why restrict the thread to an artificial situation? If the backlight can be used and the battery life is OK then use it .......
  8. "the test was to find out which screen was best without backlight" Isn't that like saying lets findout whose car is easiest to drive with the headlights off? Someone might want to know this but most people? If the battery life is ok use the headlights.
