  1. With your caching name, I would suggest those LED keychain lights. Put a sticker on it, call it Torchbearer 's LED torch.
  2. I started leaving Tibetan Prayer Flags as my sig item in caches in the fall of 2001. Then I had a CD made of some of my photos from Nepal that show while a Sherpa folk tune plays. I also leave sig cards in the caches that are photos from Nepal that I print on transparency film, then laminate. There are ten different cards. Some cachers try to collect all 10 cards and 5 flag colors. You can see a lot of other sig items here in the MIGO Sig Item Database http://sigitemdb.mi-geocaching.org/
  3. Here is one of the pre TB hitchhikers. I recall seeing a couple more of them, but don't remember the name. Since there were only caches at that time, these were listed as a cache, so when you found one, you got credit for 2 finds, one for the cache the hitchhiker was in and one for the hitchhiker. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...3b-873f144a593b
  4. If you look at the second paragraph down here, it says to look forward to 06. http://jeep.geocaching.com/ How do you enter? the first year, you had to find the jeep tb, then submit either a photo or story of your adventure finding/hiding it. Or you could submit an online entry form each week for the duration of the contest. They gave away 3 jeeps, but that was to all who entered, winning photos, winning essays, and all the online entries, which were advertised in several magazines as well. This past year, they gave away 2 jeeps, one to online entries, and one to a geocacher. To enter that, you had to submit a photo with the jeep tb. No essays. Here is photos of the 15 monthly winning photos, and the jeep went to Malandro in Utah with Jeep Help Everyone. http://jeep.geocaching.com/contest/winners.aspx
  5. Once you get it, you should make it into a TB like this one
  6. Congratulations malandro95. I love the effects of the mud splashed on the jeep Very real looking. Blowing smoke huh?? You the man Dupiedo, great sleuth job. Yeah, I think those were smoke rings, going around my comment.
  7. Earlier today, I emailed all the remaining monthly winners who had not been on here and asked if they had heard anything. Here is a rundown of all 15 winners. Child at work. N/A Work Smart, not Hard NO Where it all Began NO Staples of Americana NO Yankee Doodle Doggie N/A The Mightiest N/A Camping at Lk Bullneck N/A Stay on Course NO Getting Ready to Crash N/A Track-tion NO Dangerous Crossing NO When Pigs Fly NO Toe on the Nose NO Frogs Being Toad NO Jeep Help Everyone NO
  8. Now the question is, how do you know that is the winner? Just curious He doesn't. Just blowing smoke. I just got an email from Malandro95. He says he hasn't heard a thing.
  9. The winner will be notified by overnite delivery on or about Dec 28. I didn't get any overnite package as of yesterday, so I guess I didn't win. That's 2 of us out.
  10. A mechanical pencil or regular pencil and sharpener should be added to all your caches. Ink pens tend to freeze in the winter and prevent entering finds in the logbook. You should also carry a pencil with you for those caches you find that don't have one so you can still enter your log.
  11. Gotta have some of these. I see Ontario out the window at work every night.
  12. Before TB tags came out in 2001, some cachers put out travelers that were listed as caches, since there was nothing else to list them as. One of the first was Mars Rover http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...3b-873f144a593b, which is still moving These are what gave Jeremy the idea for the tags.
  13. Coins arrived in Mich today. Thanks for all the hard work. They look great.
  14. Prizes have been awarded for the first month of the contest. UPS left a package at my door this morning containing a Garmin Legend C GPS. Was sent UPS express, so the others should have been recieved also. Very cool surprise when I opened the package.
  15. Still getting the server down page. How are others getting in to log finds.
  16. What site do we track these on. I would like to get one activated before an event across the river in Windsor this Saturday.
  17. The coins showed up in Michigan on Sat. Great looking and just in time, there is an event in Windsor this Sat.
  18. Put me down for 3 if there are still some available. Check will be in the mail today.
  19. Cache doesn't seal well. Contents will get soaked when the first rain hits it. Needs new cache container.
  20. I took a trip to Nepal in Oct 2000, brought back a few strings of Tibetan prayer flags as one of my souviners. Started caching in June of 2001 and started leaving individual flags in exceptional caches that I found and in caches that I hid. I didn't have many flags so had to be careful not to "spend" them too quickly. Then I found a source nearby (she goes to Nepal yearly) so I leave them in most caches now. BTW Team 360, I hope to get one of your rocks when you come to this area in a few weeks.
  21. Check out the Canada forums for caches that Cliffy has hidden in the Ottawa area using PVC pipe with the upper end sealed and the opening on the bottom. Tie a rope around it and hang it aginst a tree trunk.
  22. Mark, I am so sorry to hear about Bec. It was such a shock last fall when you told us about her illness and future treatments. From reading these logs, I don't think I am the only one with a new emptiness in their heart.
