  1. I'm Sure I'm very late but just noticed that Team Maddie have made their 200th cache found. But I think Team Maddie's main geocaching achievement is not the caches found but the tremendous caches & Multicaches that they've placed out there and also the great events that they've set up along with Jim (Time Lord) over the last 2 years. Great work and really appreciated. Congratulations to Martin, Lynne and Maddie
  2. Its quite interesting to see how much pleasure some people get from a congrats thread compared with what must be no more than a mild irritation to others. Personally, I beleive that if just one person gets enjoyment out of getting a mention (or the ability to praise another) then surely its not such a great problem to skip over these for those that dislike them? A lot of people have a LOT more to worry about - the rest of us should think ourselves very lucky.
  3. Apologies if this is nothing new but I've recently discovered these Internet Radio programmes known as "podcasts" about geocaching. These are all American but I find them quite interesting to listen to. If you've not heard of "Podcasts", they're basically radio style programmes that you can listen to on an iPod, MP3 player or on your PC. You can download the MP3 files directly from the websites or "subscribe" to the podcasts using a free program such as Apple's iTunes or iPodder. It's all free of course. These are the websites of the geocaching podcasts.. CacheCaster PodCacher GeoRadio
  4. It certainly was a great weekend. Despite a couple of Kamp Kommandant misunderstandings it was another terrific event. It was a superb choice of location with some great caching to be had in all directions. We met some great people and made some great new friends. Really enjoyed it. Thanks very much to all involved for making it such a good time.
  5. Tittesworth sounds a great idea to me. Theres an all year camping Club site at nearby Blackshaw Moor and a reasonable pub for refreshments at the Three Horseshoes which I beleive may have accomodation. A couple of nice caches on the Roaches too!
  6. Congratulations! to Mark Lynn and family! Well done on your Century! Onto the next 100? Budak Melayu (aka Martin)
  7. Hey - Congratulations! A Major milestone. Cant say I'm surprised - you seem to have been to all the caches I've been to wherever in the country I go. So onto the next 500!! :-) Well done girls!! Martin (aka Budak Melayu)
  8. Although you cant use memory map as such, you can have the maps in a palm using a graphic app such as fireviewer. I use this a lot when I dont have the OS Map with me. Obviously it doesnt connect to the GPSr or anything but it does allow you to take the map with you.
  9. 4869 - thanks for bringing this to everyones attention. Very sad.
  10. We will be visiting the Christmas Markets in mid December and would like to attempt to find a few of the better geocaches on the route between Brugge and Aachen and some of the best around each of these great cities. I'd appreciate any recommendations as our time is limited. Thanks in advance.
  11. Personally, I like to see others Calling cards and will usually have a quick glance at these even in hard rain whereas, like others have said, in order to keep the logbook dry I sometimes have to be very economical in what I will record in the log book. However, what seems a little worrying is the number of "RULES" that some appear to try to attach to our fun and very open hobby. With common sense, there's no need for rules on how to behave. I'm sure the hobby gives different things to different people so why worry?
