  1. OK thanks for your responses. I have no problem paying for the app, I just didn't understand that the premium membership was the $30. John
  2. I guess I don't understand. I pay $10 for Geocaching App, and then pay $30 for a membership to use the App. Is this correct? And is there a better way to do this? I see many Geocaching Apps at the Apple store, but don't have any idea if they are any good. I see Commander Compass and Spyglass but they look complicated. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks John
  3. GPS and Charger are both sold..thank you for asking John
  4. Any interest in this, I need to get rid of it. John
  5. If my price is out of line thats 1 thing but when I read your post and do a price check I find no price near 189 and REI price at 299 which is around the average retail price it seems. If I missed some hugh special off sale in my search than I am sorry.
  6. I bought new a PN-40 with 8 rechargable batteries and a MAHA C9000 Charger all at the beginning of last year and I was ready to take on the world. Well I used the PN-40 about 3 times, said oh well ,then the iphone came out and I havent touched it since. The PN-40 is like new all original packing comes with topo 7..I know 8 is available. Cost me 350..plus shipping. Is 250 shipped fair? The charger was the one everyone on the forums told me to get, so I guess its good, hasnt had much use. will charge 4 diff batteries at once and they dont have to be the same type..each cell is independent of each other. This comes with all original packing also and 4 Maha Imedion 2100 low self discharge batteries and 4 Sanyo 2700 batteries. This package cost me 81 plus shipping how bout 50 shipped. Let me know if my prices are in line or not. thanks John
  7. Well I didnt realize the price had come down on them like that. What is a good or fair asking price. I am not going to give it away. Make me an offer I guess. My idea was to buy one of those garmins that last for 20 hours. I am more interested in compass and altimeter than super great mapping.
  8. Anyone looking for a new Delorme PN-40? I bought it and really probably shouldn't have. Way more than I need for what I wanted. I paid $350 for it and put a Zagg protective shield on it. This is very good handheld gps and comes with very good maps of the whole United States. Looking to get $300 out of this. I took it for 1 walk so its not new but its as close as you can get to new. I am in the Rochester NY Area if anyone is close. Thanks John This is the add i put on here last Xmas. Nothing has changed. I did take it hiking once and my problem is the batteries wont last all day. Anyway, Im not using it like I thought I would and I would like to sell it. It is still like new , I have the original receipt , box, and everything it came with. The receipt says I ordered it from Tiger GPS Nov 20 2008. It has Topo 7, not the new Topo 8. is $300 a fair price? Let me know. Thanks John
  9. Just for the record, I was not tring to take advantage of anyone. As I thought I explained I am just tring to get some money back for my purchase. As it is I will just probably keep this and try to learn how to use it to its full potential rather than sell it for a large loss.
  10. Tiger has them for $299 w/ free shipping would $200 plus shipping buy it. 73170 zip code OKC, Ican do paypal, send a bank check or I have family in syracuse. No but I can get it to Syracuse for 300

  12. Oh my, what did I do. It seems these pn-40's are not exactly point and shoot. The quick start guide says load region map first, the region map disk says load topo first. All I want to do is go outside and play but the Topo USA requires a college degree to understand. well its not quite that bad but....if I want nys region and Topo for my area on the gps which would you suggest I put on first, which one should go in memory and which 1 on the memory card. And also I know its not a car gps but is there a way to display street address on the screen. I think thats fun when Im out drivng around. Thanks John
  13. Well I got my new gps in the mail today. Now all I have to do is learn how to use it. i figured it was a good deal when you figure the maps that come with it and most of you that have the PN-20 are happy with it. Hope I made the right decision. I'll let you all know and I'll prob have alot of questions for you all..... John

  15. What is a Vista? I wonder WHY when I read..Garmin eTrex Vista HCx - very similar features to the 60CSx but a bit smaller and much cheaper.....Why is the Vista much cheaper or why is the 60 so much more..... Thanks
  16. 1. The DeLorme PN-20 comes bundled with the DeLorme mapping application, Topo USA 7.0. The included Topo maps are far more than sufficient for geocaching. The maps maybe zoomed in to the city street level for urban caching. (These maps are USA only.) 2. The Topo USA 7.0 software application runs only a Windows OS. Some people here use a dual boot utility, Bootcamp is one, and then purchase a copy of Windows XP to load and boot into for working with Topo. Check here for a thread replete with Topo 7.0 - Mac information: http://forums.delorme.com/viewtopic.php?t=15350 One really nice advantage of the Garmin that I see is the Send to GPS feature at the geocashing website. Is there a workaround or a software program that gets that to work with the Delorme?
  17. After looking around alot I think I might try a Delorme PL20 ..I think thats it. But now I wonder...will the Delorme maps and software work with a Mac? And also are the maps that come with Delorme good enough to make average hiking geocashing street map guy happy. Thanks John
  18. just couldnt do it. price almost doubled in the last 10 minutes of auction. To many unknowns about a used unit. I will find one...thanks for your replies..
  19. I have a chance to buy one of these used on EBay. I guess its a couple years old. Age shouldnt matter does it?.. isnt it a good unit and the software just keeps getting updated? Thanks
  20. thank you all for the replies. This is all new to me and very confusing. I just like to hike and decided to try and play with a gps a little. Guess I need to do some reading...
  21. Ok thanks for the replies..I downloaded Garmin RoadTrip and installed the maps, but something is just not right. It seems to show Canada detail pretty well but not US detail. No US detail at all ...any ideas..thanks
  22. I downloaded these maps onto my Mac...yes the Mac version thinking I could just unzip them and look at them on my computer. I must need a software program to do that. Any idea what a good program for a Mac would be?, or am I doing something else wrong...Thanks
