  1. Perfect Mark doesn't seem to be on the iPhone store anymore. Any other free apps out there?
  2. I have both hidden caches and also tried to find caches with bad coordinates. So I have some experience. I'm downloading the app now.
  3. Can you recommend any iPhone apps for getting a good gps reading. Preferably something that will take the average gps over a period of time.
  4. I'm just wondering if you use GC code on a regular basis. I've created a geotrail with 15 caches around Iceland all hidden at famous film locations. I'm printing pamphlets to distribute in hotels and tourist informations to advertise the geotrail. There is very little space, but I'll squeeze in a list of the 15 caches, and I was wondering if I should include the GC code. The main reason to have it is for people that are familiar with geocaching, they could use it to find the cache on their mobile phone more easily. The downside is that people that don't know what geocaching is might find having the code confusing. So I want to ask you, would it be of any help if you had these on a pamphlets? If you want to check out the geotrail, i created a facebook page for it at facebook.com/IFLgeotrail
  5. The geotrail is up already. The list is here: http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=3cd3f6a7-08a5-4cc1-b733-0fb8d07c5272 I just have to print out the pamphlets. And no, there will be no price except the adventure of finding the caches.

  7. I tried GCStatistics but it doesn't give me any info about caches that I've hidden. I'm looking for info like how many times have my caches been found, how many favourites points have they gotten and so on
  8. Sorry, I don't speak German, so have no idea... Only thing I can suggest is don't use a password you already use. It's asking me for the password of my geocaching account.
  9. Thanks. But it seems like it only gives statistics about my finds, not finds on caches that I've hidden. But please correct me if I'm wrong.
  10. It's asking me for a password. Is it safe?
  11. Does GSAK work on mac? How do I get over the learning curve?
  12. I've seen a few people that have extensive statistics about their finds in their profile page. I've hidden 15 caches (on another account) that I wanted to post statistics about, for example total number of finds, favorite % and stuff like that. Is there a program that does that and puts it on my profile?
  13. Is there a database of Benchmarks in Iceland somewhere? This looks like more US orientated.
  14. I agree that to many cachers are afraid of muggles, don't talk to them or ignore their approach.
  15. I just found a peace of paper where I had broken down all the things that make this hobby enjoyable, and divided it into percentage. 10% internet geekiness 30% treasure hunt 15% outdoor activity 20% social 10% trading items 15% traveling bonus secrecy and physical activity. Does that make sense? Since then I've mostly stopped trading items tough What's your percentage?
  16. You know, it's very easy to do multiquote. Just hit "MultiQuote" on the posts you want to quote and then hit "Use Full Editor" at the bottom. (The quotes are there just to show how it would look) On topic, I don't bother with milestones. Probably because I don't have any yet.
  17. I liked Wave a lot more then G+
  18. I do most of my caches by bike. Although there are not many left that are reachable by bike. I'm counting on others here to add more I have an el-bike that I also use daily to get to work.
  19. Unoriginal cache in an uninteresting place hidden in a place that makes me look for 20 minutes. What a waste of time.
  20. It looks like they come in numbers first and then the alphabet. First 0,1,2...7,8,9 and then a-z For example after GCZ6M3 comes GCZ6M4 And after GCZZZZ comes GC10000 Not quite - not all the letters are used. See this brief explanation: http://www.markwell.us/geofaq.htm#Hexadec Thanks for the link
  21. Wow, that's amazing. How far has it traveled from it's last cache to the letterbox?
  22. I have to ask, what's a power trail. I thought that was a series of caches in a row, each about .1 mile apart from each other. If that's the case, than what I'm talking about is not a power trail. They are scattered around the country in locations with a specific pop culture theme. If I put up a cache page, but don't publish it, how much info can I change without the help of my reviewer. I guess I can change attributes, description. But can I change the size of the cache, a regular into a multi or changing the cords?
  23. Thank you for all your help. I will do that. At least it gives me the headsup about anyone seeking the same location. Thins aren't very active here, so odds are, all the locations will be free for months to come. I think we have two different deffenitions of the word GeoTrail. Did you read this blog http://blog.geocaching.com/2011/05/geocaching-com-do-it-yourself-create-a-geotrail/
  24. Hi. I'm planing a lot of caches of a GeoTrail. This is going to take a few months since I have limited spare time to work on it, and I want to have high quality caches. I already have the places selected, but still have to deside which are going to be multi caches, mystery or just plain regular. It's rely going to be petty if some of these locations will be taken up by someone else in the meantime. Is it possible to reserve the location, for example by submitting the cache without adding a lot of info about them. That way it's in the system but I'll add the rest of the info later on. I tried contacting my local reviewer but haven't gotten any reply, and it's been over a week.
  25. I haven't hide any caches yet, but I definitely won't trow them away. I'll use something like this so that I can stock them up. It helps if you always buy the same kind.
