  1. No reason really. Just wondering if it is possible. I've heard WAAS is useless when driving on the highway.
  2. Been in SC all my life so I'm just used to it. I grew up not knowing any better than to walk i circles. It's kinda like learning to ski in North Carolina. You don't know any different until you go out West. I guess we're a bit more rugged down here. What's the waffle fairy?
  3. Good looking Jeeps there. Looks like they were born at Maisto I think the WJTB's are the 1:24 scale models and not the 1:18th scale models in my link. Does this sound right? ---edited for clarification---
  4. Will someone post what happened for those of us that couldn't make it?
  5. Okay, I just listened to the program. I didn't expect TV's to be brought up. This is something different than what I was expecting.
  6. I've not heard this particular program. I have heard that GPS satellites will, in the future, beam a more powerful signal that could be received indoors. Shopping mall caches come to mind almost immediately.
  7. I am giving Rep. Ceips the benefit of the doubt. I believe she would not intentionally lie to pass legislation. The problem from the begining has been communication. Rep. Ceips has been misinformed by her constituents and her staff. As Ambassadors to geocaching it is our job to tell the truth and educate unknowing people about our hobby. If this is off topic I'll move or delete this entry.
  8. Shhhhhhh, be very very quiet. I'm hunting WAAS. Dude, j00 R l33t h4x0r. Thanks.
  9. I have a Magellan Sportrak Map. Is it possible to turn OFF WAAS on this unit? I didn't see anything in the setup/preferences menu.
  10. Yes, it's a small, freely distrubited newspaper around Columbia.
  11. They are a smaller Columbia based newspaper. They're reporting focuses on the Columbia area. The Columbia Star P.O. Box 5955 Columbia, SC 29250 Contact The Columbia Star
  12. This is our chance, as ambassadors to geocaching, to explain and report the facts correctly. Write letters and make phone calls.
  13. I make a trek up to Snowshoe Mtn. a couple of times each year. I wonder if a staff member or someone that lives there year round would hide a cache either on the slopes or somewhere around the resort area?
  14. South Carolina Educational Television is partnering with NASA to offer their educational programs as streaming video for SC K-12 schools. This one program just happens to touch on the subject of geocaching.
  15. The Tree House Detectives are discovering geocaching. When their GPS'r and walkie-talkies stop working properly they start an investigation into what might have happened. The term GPS is mentioned 83 times. The words cache and geocache are mentioned 23 times collectively. The term travel bug is mentioned 9 times. Description from the NASA website: Program 9: The Case of the Technical Knockout Starts airing: Wednesday May 18, 2005 11:00 a.m.–12 Noon EDT "In today’s world of high tech devices, the tree house detectives discover that technology has its flaws when everything electronic stops working. Eager to get to the bottom of this electronic blackout, the detectives quickly organize, but are surprised to learn that they must follow the wind to the nearest star…the Sun." Streaming video is provided by South Carolina Educational Television.
  16. Okay I'm thinking it's be really cute to put a tight fitting muscle t-shirt on this fat little prairie dog. Can anyone put the numbers 76 on the front of the shirt?
  17. Now that's how rumors get started. LOL anyway!
  18. Uh-oh. Somebody's got some 'splaining to do. I have not seen the print article. I will pick up a Greenville Newspaper today.
  19. The Geocaching article from the Greenville News just showed up on WIS-TV News in Columbia, SC. Because this article went out on AP it's going to be picked up by multiple newspapers and television stations. The article that I read online is a fair article that sums up things to this point. Let's use this press to our advantage!
  20. You might also consider writing to the representative for the area you had planned to visit. Express your displeasure with this piece of legislation and tell them why you are not spending your money in SC. Also the SC tourism board would love to hear what you have to say.
  21. Correct. They passed ammendment #4, then Ceips stepped up and brought out ammendment #6. Her ammendment #6 passed after she read aloud the letter from the Jewish cemetery. Her ammendment #6 is what is on the bill now and if unchanged will eventually go to the Senate. I think I'm right on this.
  22. Here is the archived streaming video of H.3777 debate from 5-11-05. Running time is 52:49 Ms. Ceip's comments begin about 32 minutes into the video. A recent copy of Windows Media Player is required to view this video.
  23. They broke for lunch. Come back at 2 PM Eastern.
